Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO
In such a situation, Claudette was still apologizing to Emmanuel.
“No, I will protect you. I promise!” Emmanuel quickly reassured her, but he had to temporarily leave her on the ground.
He needed to find a way to divert the enemy’s attention to ensure Claudette’s safety.
He had to put other matters temporarily aside.
Claudette looked at Emmanuel’s face and felt his current tension. Instead of being afraid, she tried to comfort Emmanuel, “Emmanuel, you will definitely win!”
Emmanuel lowered his head and met her gaze, nodding solemnly.
Then, he picked up a stone from the ground and threw it into the distance.
Bang!
As soon as the stone hit the ground, it caught the enemy’s attention. Bullets started raining down on that area one after another!
Not only that but bombs also dropped from above, turning the surroundings of that stone into a chaotic mess!
“That guy’s firepower is too much. Looks like he didn’t underestimate me,” Emmanuel said with a bitter smile, reminiscing about the feeling of being on the brink of life and death, which was a sensation he hadn’t experienced for a long time. He was no longer the same Wolf Warrior from the past. Now unarmed and with a wounded person to take care of, how would he find the confidence to fight back and kill the enemy?
They were practically trapped. Unable to move even an inch, they were filled with a sense of impending doom.
At that moment, Claudette seemed to understand his thoughts. She suddenly spoke weakly. “Emmanuel, you are not alone, are you? Don’t you still have me?”
Emmanuel was momentarily taken aback. He knew Claudette wasn’t joking. What is she planning to do? “Ms. Lenoir, what do you want to do? Please don’t do anything reckless!” Emmanuel quickly looked at Claudette, fearing that she might make an impulsive decision.
“Seeing you so worried about me, I feel that I’m worth something!” Claudette smiled softly, gently pushing Emmanuel away. “If I can distract the enemy for you, you’ll have a chance to escape or even counterattack, won’t you?”
“Claudette, what are you thinking? Do you want to go out as bait? No, absolutely not! Magnus may not be here, and if you reveal yourself, you might be mistaken for the enemy and get killed!” Emmanuel hurriedly held her, not allowing her to do anything foolish.
“You’re the person I love. How can I let you fail because of me?” Claudette said as she struggled to get up from the ground. Half–kneeling, she held Emmanuel’s determined face in her hands. “Emmanuel, for the last time, let me help you complete this magnificent turnaround!”
Her breath was gentle as it brushed against Emmanuel’s face. Emmanuel desperately shook his head, his eyes indicating that she shouldn’t do anything reckless.
“Magnus, I know you can hear me! I know you’re still here!” Claudette suddenly called out. At the same time, their surroundings were already hit by sniper rifle shots, and soil flew everywhere. If luck wasn’t on their side, they would already be lifeless bodies!
However, Claudette wasn’t afraid. She continued to shout loudly, “Magnus, even if you kill me, it only proves that you’re a failure! I will never like you, not even in death!” After her words, the bullets indeed stopped; the bombs didn’t continue to rain down either.
Emmanuel was slightly surprised and started to appreciate Claudette more. He had always thought that she lacked wisdom compared to Mackenzie, but now he realized that she was not inferior to Mackenzie in terms of intelligence and courage.
Claudette knew that Magnus was an extremely proud man. He desired not only her beauty but also a status–a title he had set for himself. Her title as a princess was not something she was born with but rather came about after Magnus proclaimed himself her knight.
After all, what else could a woman protected by one of Zovince’s top four men be if not a princess?
There was a saying that went, ‘What you can’t have will always stir your desire.‘
Claudette’s deliberate rejection of Magnus now ignited his desire to conquer her, making it impossible for him to bear killing her.
With the bullets no longer firing and the bombs no longer dropping, that was the best proof!
