Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO
Chapter 2401; Don’t Sit at the Wrong Table on a Blind Date! (Final Chapter)
“D*mn it… It’s still Emannuel in the end!”
Quintus lay on the ground, staring up at the Angel-God with envy. Wings stretched wide, a golden spear in one hand, the women of his dreams in the other. Jealous couldn’t even begin to cover how he felt right then.
Blake grinned beside him. “Next time, I want a better role! No looks, no power, this character is trash!”
“Emmanuel Lowe!” Gautier’s eyes instantly turned blood-red. A black aura exploded around him as he prepared to take flight.
However, due to time and narrative constraints, Emmanuel had no intention of dragging this into a drawn-our fight. With a flick of his golden spear, a streak of brilliant gold light flashed, and the weapon pierced straight through Gautier’s chest.
“Why…” Gautier’s eyes winded in disbelief, unwilling to accept the outcome. “I gave up everything… endured so much… and I still lost in the end…”
His final glance was for Mackenzie. But in her eyes, there was no sorrow, no pity, only cold indifference.
With the collapse of the Solaris Island operation, Eagle Nation no longer had the strength or strategy to stop Chanaea’s rise.
As the global situation evolved, the once-dominant Eagle Nation found itself surrounded on three fronts by Chanaea’s influence. While many believed they would fight to the bitter end, in reality, they hesitated, afraid to launch a large-scale war. Their hegemony began to crumble. Chanaea, at last, rose in peace and reclaimed its rightful place in history.
Time passed in a flash.
Twenty-five years later, in Hero’s Village, and old man couched outside the old Lowe residence at the crack of dawn, grinning to himself like a kid with a crush. “My goddess… how is she still so beautiful and elegant in her fifties? She’s doesn’t look a day over twenty! Still got it, hehe…”
“Quintus Lenior! What are you doing sneaking around here?”
A sudden voice behind him made the big man jump in fright. He turned and, trying to mask his panic with bluster, barked. “Magnus Zelinsky! Don’t talk nonsense! I wasn’t peeking, today’s Caden’s 26th birthday! I’m his uncle; of course, I’d be the first one here to celebrate!”
“Heh, sure you are, Quintus. But I’m pretty sure you’re really here to sneak a look at his mom.” Claudette, standing beside Magnus, covered her mouth and giggled playfully, still as gentle and lovely as ever.
“Hey! Hey! Don’t go saying nonsense!” Quintus bared his teeth in mock warning, wagging a finger. “The eldest son stands in for the father, and now that Dad’s gone, if you piss me off, I still won’t let you two get married this year!”
Magnus immediately turned to Claudette with soft, adoring eyes. But Claudette’s expression remained calm and unchanged.
Twenty-five years ago, Emmanuel had become the Angel-God. His heart of the Sun possessed the divine light to resurrect those whose bodies still remained. Thanks to that she and Magnus had survived.
Over the years, Magnus had proved his love again and again through his actions.
But every time he proposed, Claudette gently turned him down.
Quintus’ disapproval was one reason, but the bigger reason was her heart. It has always belonged to Emanuel. Even though his life was full, even though there was no space left for her, she still loved him in silence. But she never crossed any lines.
“Heh… Quintus, you heartless b*stard!”
Just then, old Santiago limped over with Shane’s help. Reeking of booze and still grinning, he laughed, “You’re content being a lifelong bachelor, but are you really gonna let your sister stay single forever too?”
Of course, Santiago had survived the war as well.
After the final battle, Emmanuel and Mackenzie decided to finally live a peaceful life.
With the nation secure and at peace, Emmanuel stepped down as the Northern Region Supreme Commander. Mackenzie handed her chairman position at the Chamber of Commerce back to her grandfather and followed Emmanuel to Hero’s Village, choosing a quiet life as a village wife. But her capabilities remained unmatched. After the old godfather passed away, the villagers unanimously chose her as their new village chief.
As for Terence, he lived to the age of 99 before passing, just short of a hundred, a small regret in an otherwise long life.
“Haha! Being single is the best!” Quintus puffed up with pride. “Chanaea’s number in the world now, and the retirement benefits are top-notch! Besides, Emmanuel had three sons. His youngest promised to handle my funeral when the time came. That basically make his mom half my wife, doesn’t it?”
“You shameless old man! Hahaha…” Everyone burst into laughter at Quintus nonsense.
“What are you idiots laughing about outside my sister’s door?”
Just then, another convoy of cars pulled up outside the gate.
The arrival immediately drew a crowd of curious villagers. There weren’t just any vehicles, they were high-end new energy flying cars, proudly made in Chanaea. And there were so many of them. No doubt, this was a visit from some seriously wealthy folks.
The trunks popped open, revealing gift after gift, all brought to celebrate the birthday boy.
The woman behind the convoy was none other than Beatrix, now head of the vast Quillen family enterprise, accompanied by her husband Frederick, the famous “Live-in son-in-law” of Quillen family.
To fulfill Terence’s last wish, expanding the Quillen bloodline, the couple had gone all in, having ten children; four boys and six girls. Every one of them had come along that day.
Of course, the kids were too young to understand why their parents had gone all out to celebrate someone else’s birthday in the village. They were clueless as to just how legendary their aunt and uncle in this old house used to be.
Not that anyone could blame them. Emmanuel and Mackenzie had kept a low profile after retiring. She took over as village chief, and he lived as the humble old village doctor. Honestly, most kids in the village didn’t even know how bad*ss they’d once been.
“Yo, Fredrick! You had another kid?! Shane saw Fredrick holding a baby boy and rushed over to brag. “Good thing my wife didn’t fall behind, nearly fifty and still gave me one! I’ve got eleven now, hahaha!”
He and Fredrick went back and forth, full of competitive energy, while the others stood around, their skin crawling from the sheer intensity of the baby-count battle, especially the other couples quietly arriving in the background.
Yosef had returned to the village with Emmanuel after the war. With Santiago’s matchmaking, he eventually married his goddaughter, Xylie. But the two still didn’t have any children.
As for Yorick and Yuna, they had remained in Zovince, though they’d also come to the village for the occasion. Alongside them were several familiar faces, Liora, Jane and Isabella, each over eighty yet still radiantly youthful.
Then suddenly, the whole village erupted in noise.
“What the hell? More people?!”
“There’s over a thousand of them crowding into our village again! If we didn’t know better, we’d think a gang had shown up!”
The villagers outside were in a panic.
It turned out to be Rhett and Xarri, arriving with the full entourage from the Dark Night Islands to celebrate Emmanuel’s son’s birthday.
After being brought back from the brink, Rhett hadn’t returned to his role as a Holy Guardian. Instead, he succeeded Emmanuel as the Northern Region Supreme Commander. Most of the elites from the Dark Night Islands had also retired, but anytime the Lowes had a major event, wedding, funeral, birthday, they’d definitely show up, usually led by Rhett and Xarri themselves.
Nathan was no exception. He even flew a helicopter directly over Hero’s Village to join the celebration.
Hero’s Village was livelier than ever. Some people laughed, some boasted, some argued, it was chaotic in the best way.
It wasn’t until much later that Claudette suddenly noticed. “Hey… why haven’t Emmanuel and Mackenzie come out yet?”
At that moment, Emmanuel’s youngest son, Elian Lowe, emerged from the house with a medicine jar in hand. “Caden’s gone out for a blind date today, Aunt Claudette. Aunt Sarah set him up with another beautiful girl!”
Claudette was momentarily speechless, then burst into laughter.
The Lowes had always believed in raising sons with resilience and daughters with luxury. After college, Caden had left the village to build his own life from scratch. The kid had no idea how amazing his parents actually were.
As for Sarah, after being revived in the war, she formally acknowledged Santiago as her father, but her personality hadn’t changed a bit. She returned to Hero’s Village and immediately resumed her rivalry with Mackenzie.
Whether it was fighting over men or village duties, Sarah was all in. Now, she was even competing to arrange Caden’s love life.
Rumor had it… that day marked the 17th time she’d set him up on a blind date.
All the village, clinic, Mackenzie was tugging at Emmanuel’s arm, urging him home, while muttering. “Caden is just like you used to be. Slow to react, tongue-tied, doesn’t even know how to talk to girls! And now he’s been dragged off by Sarah again to meet someone.”
Emmanuel simply laughed without saying a word. He didn’t think being bad at flirting was such a terrible flaw, after all, if he had been any smoother back then, he might never have married his eternally youthful wife.
“That is what… his 18th blind date now? You think he’ll mess it up like you did and sit at the wrong table?” Mackenzie shook her head. “Forget it, I’m calling to check on him!”
She dialed, putting the call on speaker while Emmanuel listened in from the side.
“Hey, Mom, don’t worry. I’ve got this!” Caden’s voice came through, already annoyed. “Back in the day, it was just Grandma nagging Dad. Now I’ve got a whole lineup of people on my case. I found the girl you guys set me up with, all right? I’m not dumb like Dad was. Her name’s Ayla Shepherd!”
Ayla shepherd? Mackenzie froze. That’s not the name of the girl Sarah had set up for him! Wait Sarah didn’t even go with him today?!
Had Caden followed in his father’s footsteps and sat at the wrong table again?
Was this the beginning of his own legendary story?
(The End)
