Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO

Chapter 2398; God Jovras Zhurel!

Orunis died with his eyes wide open.

He had been able to toy with the Warlord and even outmaneuver the Great Saintess, how could he have failed to grasp the limits of Emmanuel’s strength?

Alas, even a Sage Saint, after ten thousand correct predictions, could lose his life by being wrong, just once.

“Mackenzie!”

Emmanuel didn’t waste a moment on Orunis. The man was nothing more than a defeated underling. He rushed straight ahead, he had to get inside and protect Mackenzie.

But the moment he broke into the temple, he was stunned to see his wife glowing with a golden light, radiating like the sun itself.

Mackenzie looked like she was in great pain. A strange force had seized her, keeping her from struggling, She could only stare at Emmanuel helplessly.

“Emmanuel… is that… you?”

“Mackenzie! It’s me!” Emmanuel’s heart leapt. She remembered him!

“I’m coming, Mackenzie!” Without hesitation, Emmanuel charged toward her, but before he could get close, a powerful force blasted him backward.

Worse, the two Heart of the Sun inside him were forcefully pulled from his body and sucked toward that thing in the test tube.

“Gautier?!” Emmanuel was stunned. But in the next second, he realized it wasn’t just Gautier, it was two bodies fused together.

“Emmanuel… save… me…” Gautier stretched a hand toward Emmanuel, begging one last time.

He could feel his body being devoured, someone was eating him alive. The ancient monster wanted to seal his younger body.

“Fine.”

Emmanuel didn’t hesitate. He sprang up and slammed his palm straight though Gautier’s body, blowing it apart.

Even as he died, Gautier’s eyes widened. He clenched his teeth and cursed, “You b*stard!”

Emmanuel chuckled. “You must be out of your d*mn mind if you think I’d ever save you!”

Gautier bit down so hard his jaw trembled.

But then came a horrifying sight, even with his body destroyed, Gautier didn’t die. His brain was sucked straight into that fused body. The process was revolting, beyond belief.

Emmanuel didn’t waste time on him. He immediately used the Blazing Dragon Grip to seize the Heart of the Sun back.

He managed to snatch them back, but the monster absorbed them again, and this time, the suction was even stronger. So strong, that even someone capable of slaying top Sage level foes could barely hold on.

“D*mn it! Emmanuel wrestled on back and swallowed it on the spot.

Let’s see how that monster plans to steal it now!

However, it burned. It felt like swallowing fire.

Just as he was about to swallow the second one, the monster suddenly awoke. It clamped down on his wrist. Their eyes locked for a split second, and in that instant, an overwhelming pressure burst out like a tidal wave crashing through the skies.

Emmanuel felt as though he’d been slammed into by a raging sea.

“D*mn it!”

He struggled with all his might. Even with lower quadruple S level power, he was completely helpless in the face of this being.

Is this… the might of a god?
“The Heart of the Sun! That’s my heart!”

The monster spoke.

His entire body radiated terrifying light. His face grew younger by the second shockingly, it started to resemble Gautier’s.

If Emmanuel hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he wouldn’t have believed it. The impossibility of it defied every natural law he knew.

Seeing that the second Heart of the Sun was about to be stolen. Emmanuel clenched his teeth and hurled it toward Mackenzie.

Mackenzie, having just watched Emmanuel swallow the first one, didn’t hesitate. She opened her mouth and forced herself to swallow the second, despite the searing pain.

“D*mn you! I’ll kill you both! I’’ll cut you open and dig them out!”

The monster’s voice echoed with unnatural reverberation, sounding hollow and chilling.

“Mackenzie!”

Emmanuel saw the monster charging at her. Without hesitation, he launched himself forward to shield his wife.

The monster had already absorbed the full power of Mackenzie and all the Sun Stones. The saintess had lost her value, so he intended to finish her off. But Emmanuel got there first. Wrapping his arms around his wife.

Bam!

The blow struck Emmanuel’s back. Still holding Mackenzie, he crashed through the wall and was flung out into the void.

Behind the temple was a bottomless abyss.

“Ah! Ahhh!”

Now that he had failed to obtain the Heart of the Sun, the monster flew into a frenzy.

Everything had been meticulously calculated by the Sage Saint, not just the absorption of the Sun Stones, but also the powers of two generations of Saintesses, and four major containers. He had even predicted that Emmanuel would deliver the Heart of the Sun himself.

But he hadn’t foreseen that the most critical Heart of the Sun would slip through his fingers at the last moment.

He was one step short of perfection.

Still, the power he had absorbed was enough to evolve his body into a divine container.

“D*mn it! Why hasn’t Emmanuel come out yet?!”

Outside the collapsing temple, Quintus shouted in panic.

He and Xarri wanted to go back in to rescue Emmanuel, but both were heavily injured. With rubble crashing down all around them, they were powerless.

“We need to retreat!” Xarri had no choice but make the call.

Two massive chunks of stones came crashing toward them, just as Mia appeared and shoved them to safety.

“Get out of here!” she shouted, not waiting for their thanks.

Once Quintus and Xarri made it out, she turned back again. There were still people inside, four women in the containers, and one man.

Yosef.

Whatever his backstory, if he hadn’t helped just now. Emmanuel never would’ve taken the Dragon Spear and defeated the Sage Saint.

“Th… thanks…” Yosef was badly wounded but still alive.

“You’re welcome.” Mia glanced at him. His gaze was a little devilish, but she had to admit, he had a certain charm.

The moment the four of them escaped, the divine temple finally collapsed in on itself.

Those still fighting in the surrounding area were crushed or wounded beyond help. The women in the containers had their eyes closed, no one could tell if they were alive or dead.

“Retreat! Get our now!”

Sage, following Emmanuel’s earlier order, was barely holding on himself. He knew at this point survival was the only goal.

But the remaining soldiers of the Wolf Warrior Unit were already gravely injured. Almost none of them made it out alive.

Sage was no different. Covered in wounds at completely exhausted, he tripped and fell hard as he tried to run.

A boulder cam crashing toward him, but just before it crushed him, a woman in flowing white robes swooped in and pulled him to safety.

“Thank you, Music Saint!” Sage gasped once he realized who had saved him.

Looking behind her, he spotted two more people she had brought out, Savage Martial Saint and Maestro Moretti, both severely wounded.

Liora didn’t acknowledge Sage. Her eyes suddenly turned upward.

Floating in the sky above them was a figure wreathed in cold, dark energy. His presence turned the entire sky black.

“Wh… who is that?!”

Sage and Quintus both stared in shock.

Behind them, Blake, Nathan, and Ashdon all barely alive and soaked in blood, gazed at the same figure in despair.

Even Yorick, Isabella, and Liora found themselves shaken. The power emanating from that figure went beyond anything they could comprehend. Even as saints, they felt pitifully small before him.

The cultists of the Holy Fire organization looked up in awe. The aura was overwhelming, frigid, and absolute. One by one they dropped to their knees.

To the, this was a true god, even if they didn’t know his name.

“His real name is Jovras Zhurel.” Came an aged voice from behind the crowd. “He only started calling himself Ashur after descending into the mortal realm and entering the Eagle Nation.”

“Old godfather!”

The hopeless crowd suddenly caught a spark of hope.

Especially Quintus, he had witnessed the terrifying strength of the old godfather before.

Even if Emmanuel, the ‘side character,’ had gone down early, as long as he and the old godfather were still standing, there might still be a chance.
