Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO

Chapter 2397; Just Because You Guessed, It Doesn’t Mean You Get To Live!

Emmanuel instantly felt as if all his internal organs had shifted out of place.

This old man’s internal strength is insane!

“Get the Saintess inside, now!”

The Sage Saint, wary of unexpected disruptions, quickly activated the mechanism to open the final gate of the divine temple.

With a twisted smile, Gautier took advantage of the moment Mackenzie’s curse worm began to weaken. As her headache intensified and her resistance faded, he yanked her into the inner chamber.

Once inside, Gautier was taken aback.

Though the room had an ancient, ceremonial atmosphere, the walls were lined with high tech machinery. In the center stood a glass tube filled with a strange liquid, and floating inside was a shriveled, elderly body, its wrinkled features unmistakably Eastern.

“So, this is Ashur?” Gautier stared at the scene, his grin growing both excited and deranged.

The next moment, Mackenzie’s body began to glow with a strange golden light.

The power of the Sun Stones, which her body had absorbed, was being forcibly stripped away. Not only that, but the entire chamber was also embedded with Sun Stones, she was acting as a conduit, drawing energy and having it siphoned out at the same time.

Suddenly, Gautier leaped onto the glass tube and kicked the aged figure out of the liquid, laughing maniacally. “Ha! Did you really think you could restore your godhood, you old fossil?! Thanks for preparing all of this for me!”

But then, something unexpected happened.

Gautier, relying on the Dragon Tome he had learned from Teddy, found that the immense power flooding into him was far beyond what he could endure. His body was already on the verge of bursting.

What the f*ck?!

He was screwed!

Outside, no one had any idea what was happening within the chamber.

Emmanuel, still calling out for his wife, forced himself back to his feet.

“As expected of Chanaea’s war god.” The Sage Saint said smugly. “Your strength has already surpassed the other six Saints.”

But Emmanuel had no time for empty talk. Without hesitation, he unleashed the Northern Region’s Dragon-Breaking Palm, determined to crush this obstacle and charge into the temple to rescue his wife.

From the shadows, Yosef, who had been secretly observing the battle, narrowed his eyes. He was eager to see just how far Emmanuel had advanced in his martial arts.

Whoosh!

The sheer force of the Reverse Dragon Palm shook the temple, making even its reinforced foundations tremble.

The Sage Saint couldn’t help but mutter in awe, “Looks like you’ve already surpassed the general… too bad you still can’t take me down.”

Bam!

With a flick of his sleeve, the Sage Saint engaged Emmanuel head-on. But instead of barehanded combat, he wielded a special weapon, a steel claw.

The collision was intense. Emmanuel’s palm began to bleed, the pain written all over his face.

Against ordinary opponents, Emmanuel could’ve shattered them with internal force alone. But the Sage Saint’s internal strength was at the Upper triple-S level, and combined with his unique weapon, Emmanuel had rushed in too recklessly and paid the price.

What now?!

Emmanuel didn’t have time to think. He could already feel the entire temple trembling the ritual inside had likely began. And he had no idea what was happening to Mackenzie.

Whoosh!

He launched a Blazing Dragon Grip, attempting to subdue the Sage Saint. But the old had studied his moves carefully. With a sidestep, he easily dodged it and even baited Emmanuel into pulling a hidden explosive toward himself.

Luckly, Emmanuel reacted fast and flung it away just in time, any slower, and the blast would’ve ripped him apart.

“Emmanuel! This is something the old godfather waned you to have, it was left behind by your grandfather!”

Seeing that Emmanuel was struggling to get past Orunis. Quintus quickly tossed a scroll toward him.

Emmanuel frowned the moment he saw what was inside the scroll, his expression instantly conflicted.

It was a cultivation method. In fact, it was nearly identical to his own Art of Sunflame.

There was barely any difference.

It was useless to him at this point.

But near the end of the scroll, he spotted something else, techniques from the Dance of the Spears.

At a glance, they didn’t look like the ones Santiago had shown him before. These seemed more refined, more profound.

“Heh… polishing your spear right before battle won’t save you. Even if the Dawnbringer himself rose from the grave to teach you, you’d still lose to me today!” The Sage Saint gave a mocking laugh and launched a sudden attack from behind.

But his ambush didn’t work.

Emmanuel instinctively dodged, his Art of Adoptability was no ordinary skill.

Still, every time Emmanuel tried to force his way the inner temple, the Sage Saint managed to cut him off.

Unless he took this old man down, there was no breaking through.

But to defeat the Sage Saint, he needed a weapon that could stand up to the man’s steel claw.

“Emmanuel! Catch!”

A voice called out behind him. It was Mia. He turned. It was like a gift sent from heaven in his moment of need, the Silver Dragon Spear, Santiago’s weapon, came flying toward him.

Mia’s voice trembled with emotion as she shouted, “Your mentor gave his life breaking through the wall! He believed in you, believed you would destroy the Eagle Nation’s plan and usher in peace for Chanaea!”

The words hit Emmanuel like a bolt lightning, Santiago’s… dead?!

His mind blanked for just an instant. And in that brief window, the Sage Saint hurled a hidden weapon that knocked the Spear out of the air, embedding it in the wall.

“D*mn it!”

Emmanuel snapped out of it and lunged toward the spear. But the Sage Saint was already rushing into strike, determined to kill him on the spot. After all, this man was the descendant of the Dawnbringer, leaving him alive would be a massive threat.

Mia was stunned. She wanted to help, but the spear was too far away.

At that critical moment, a figure leaped toward the Silver Dragon Spear and shouted, “Catch! But I’m only helping you this once!”

Emmanuel looked up and froze. Yosef?!

With a slight smirk, Yosef kicked the spear toward Emmanuel and then charged at the leader of the Seven Saints with his sword drawn.

“Watching you fight helped me finally figure it out. I’m Chanaean, and so is Queenie! If I don’t help you now, even in the nest life, Queenie would still fall for you, not me!”

Hearing those words, Emmanuel felt his eyes burn.

Using his own body to block the Sage Saint, Yosef gave Emmanuel just enough time to grab the Silver Dragon Spear.

At that moment, Emmanuel closed his eyes. It was as if Santiago’s spirit had returned to him, his mind filled with every memory they’d shared.

“Go, Emmaneul. I believe in you. You’ll surpass me on day… maybe even your grandfather.”

Emmanuel’s eyes snapped open, Seeing Yosef bloodied and battered from the Sage Saint’s blow, he finally unleashed a soul shaking roar. “Arrrghhhh!”

He struck, no warm-up, no hesitation, the Dance of No Spears.

Mia stood frozen, stunned.

Quintus stared, equally speechless.

Xarri watched in awe. Emmanuel’s martial talent truly defied all logic. If the Lannister Family’s potential represented the Pinnacle of human martial arts, then Emmanuel had already gone beyond that pinnacle.

Even the Sage Saint was visibly shaken. But he still managed to block the spear’s tip with his clawed weapon. As he was pushed back, he laughed. “I’ve seen that move before! It’s still within my predictions! Ha…”

But Emmanuel’s eyes were sharp, steady, and brimming with confidence. He suddenly roared again, unleashing the second strike.

“Just because you guessed it doesn’t mean you get to live!”

“What?!”

The Sage Saint was taken aback. Emmanuel’s condition shouldn’t have allowed him to keep attacking.

A flash of silver tore though the air like a dragon and pierced straight through his chest.

When the light faded, there was a gaping hole in Orunis chest.

“To think… who’d have thought…”

He collapsed with a heavy thud, twitching as his body gave out in throes of death.
