Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO
Chapter 2394; The Peak of the Seven Saints!
“D*mn it!”
The Great Saintess still had enough strength to protect herself, but the Great Saint King wasn’t so lucky. He had already been seriously wounded in the battle with Santiago, and the blast just now hit him hard.
Still, as one of the Upper three Saints, he managed to survive and escape the explosion zone. But just as he landed, a chill crept up his spine.
The Sag Saint had already been waiting for him.
“How did you know I’d land here?” the Great Saint King asked in shock.
The smoke from the explosion had made it impossible to see anything outside. The fact that the Sage Saint had been able to spot him, let alone accurately predict where he would fall, baffled him.
“That’s my edge,” the Sage Saint replied with a grin. “I don’t need to have stronger internal strength than you. I just need to know how to kill you.”
“No wonder they say your reputation is well-deserved!” the Great Saint King suddenly roared. “But killing me won’t be that easy!”
He spun around and threw a palm strike. But just as he turned, a sharp pain exploded his abdomen, a micro chainsaw had cut open his stomach. The Sage Saint had already calculated his movements within a three-step range.
“You despicable b*stard!” the Great Saint King jumped back.
The Sage Saint just chuckled. “Back when Chanaea was crushed under the firepower of foreign warships, your people made the same face. The winner writes the rules, don’t bother yourself with what method I use. Goodbye, worthless loser.”
“What?” The Great Saint King’s face twisted in alarm.
The ground beneath him erupted. The explosion blasted half of his body clean off.
Only then did the Sage Saint finally crack a smug smile. He pulled his hood back on and said, “Calculation is a hard skill. Victory is strength. In this day and age, only a fool would dare underestimate math and science!”
“Pol!”
The Great Saintess, seeing her husband destroyed in an instant, exploded in fury and struck at the Sage Saint with a Palm. “I’ll kill you!”
“Mmm, terrifying strength indeed.”
But the Sage Saint’s voice came from behind her.
The Great Saintess had shattered the Sage Saint’s body, only to realize it was a fake.
He used a decoy in that brief moment?! A sleight of hand?
“Tsk tsk. With your power, Lord Ashur should be able to regain his divine form, right?” the Sage Saint continued with admiration.
When the Great Saintess turned around, she saw him standing behind her, twirling a finger near his temple with a mocking smile. “All that power means nothing without combat sense and talent. Did it not look suspicious to you when I suddenly wore my hood?”
“D*mn you!”
Her expression twisted hideously, like a vengeful ghost. But then her head began to feel strangely heavy.
The decoy, there had been a hidden needle!
However, she realized it was too late.
“No wonder you were once one of the top two Saintesses. A tranquilizer strong enough to paralyze a blue whale still took this long to bring you down.”
The Sage Saint looked entirely in control. The Great Saint King and the Great Saintess were no more than toys in his hands. Aside from the gods themselves, the entire world bent to his will, including the president of the Eagle Nation.
Thud.
Though the Great Saintess still struggled everything had already been accounted for. She collapsed to the ground shortly after.
“Take her way,” the Sage Saint ordered triumphantly.
With her captured, the remaining Holy Fire organization forces were headless flies, easy to wipe out.
His attention now turned toward Emmanuel and his group. No matter what, they were the descendants of the Dawnbringer. Back then, the Dawnbringer singlehandedly defeated the Ten Saints and shattered Lord Ashur’s plan to destroy Chanaea.
This time, with an even greater plan in motion, he couldn’t allow the Dawnbringer’s bloodline to ruin it again.
At that moment, Emmanuel was already leading the second squad deep into Solaris Island.
Sage came over to report, “Commander, we’ve spotted a military outpost northeast of here. We should reach it if we cut through the jungle!”
Emmanuel nodded and walked straight to the front of the group. After surveying the terrain, he gave a direct order. “We won’t take the main road or any side paths either.”
“What path do we take then?” Sage asked in surprise.
“We make our own.” Emmanuel’s tone turned serious.
Magnus had once told him that his mentor’s style resembled his own. Right now, Emmanuel simply pictured Magnus as standing in for Orunis. If it were Magnus making the calls, he would’ve laid out two obvious routes and then calculated their movement patterns to trap them.
As long as Emmanuel didn’t’ follow the rhythm his opponent set, no matter how precise their simulations were, there would always be a margin for error.
On the other side or the island. Xarri despite being unfamiliar with Magnus and having never crossed paths with Orunis, had coincidentally made the same strategic decision as Emmaneul; carve their own path to locate the enemy’s main base.
At that moment, Orunis was already waiting at a fork in the road.
After a grueling day and night of travel, Yorick and Isabella finally arrived at the crossroads with the remnants of the fourth squad.
“It’s been a while, Savage Martial Saint, once the fiercest fighter in the world. And you too, Redback Matriarch, still as stunning as ever.”
“Orunis?!”
Isabella, once one of the leaders of the Holy Trinity, had faced Orunis before. Now that they stood on opposing sides, she still felt a deep sense of caution and respect.
“I just sent the Great Saint King to the next world. Emmanuel killed the Warlord. The Silver Dragon Spear Saint has fallen as well. Of the Seven Saints, only the three of us remain.” The Sage Saint chuckled darkly. “This is the age of upheaval, the turning point. It’s time for you relics to disappear and give up your seats.”
As he spoke, the surrounding jungle erupted with armed soldiers.
Despite knowing they were outnumbered and trapped, the surviving warriors of Chanaea’s fourth squad instinctively formed a back-to-back formation. They were willing to die on their feet, but they would never kneel.
Yorick and Isabella exchanged a glance and moved in sync. Without a word, they split their roles and attacked first.
Isabella unleashed illusions to assist the squad in battling the soldiers, while Yorick charged directly at the Sage Saint. He wanted to see the gap between himself and an Upper Three Saint.
His Savage Tiger Roar Fist pounded the air with explosive force, igniting trees in its path. But the Sage Saint moved like he had seen it all in advance, weaving calmly through the flames and chaos. Then, with two fingers, he flicked a small blade through the air.
A chill ran down Yorick’s spine.
He couldn’t adapt to the Sage Saint’s fighting style at all. It wasn’t like fighting a human, it was like facing a machine calculated to perfection.
“D*mn!”
Only after dodging the projectile did Yorick realize its true target. He shouted instinctively, “Isabella, watch out!”
Isabella, caught mid-illusion, gasped. She barely dodged the blade in time, but the wire of her spring instrument had already been severed.
“Heh, you’re all out of hope. Chanaea is out of hope!” The Sage Saint’s voice was full of twisted glee. “See that military fortress up north? The Great Saintess has already been captured. All four of the specially cultivated vessels have been retrieved. Once Lord Ashur absorbs enough solar energy, he will descend in divine form. With a natural energy cannon that can’t be intercepted, he will reduce Chanaea to dust!”
As he spoke, Eagle Nation’s soldiers on Solar Island tightened the encirclement.
The remnants of Chanaea’s fourth squad had no strength left to resist.
Gunfire and explosions erupted at the crossroads, deafening and relentless.
At that moment, Emmanuel, leading his men through a newly blazed tail heard the distant chaos and instinctively looked toward the south. But just then, Sage cried out in alarm, “Commander, up ahead! It’s a military fortress, we’re close to the enemy’s main base!”
