Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO
Chapter 2393; Atonement!
Right then, the sky and earth shifted.
All eyes turned toward the silver dragon.
Liora, her voice breaking with solos, sang from the depths of her soul.
“And I will love the world you loved, wishing for the smile you wished. Hold your hand though I stumble and fall. Please take me into tomorrow!”
Even the Great Saint King and the Great Saintess, caught between grief and awe, felt something stir deep in their chests. A sorrowful heaviness pressed down on them, yet beneath it, an uncontrollable surge of blood and spirit began to boil.
Behind Santiago, everyone wept in silence, their blood burned with passion.
In that instant, it was as if they saw a vision of the past, a lone warrior who, without regret or hesitation, had rushed onto foreign battlefields for the sake of founding a nation, holding back the armies of seventeen countries with nothing but his strength.
And at the same time, they saw the tragedy of a writer, abandoned when their platform shutdown, their editor left, and no one paid attention anymore. Left alone in the darkness, unsure when they’d be forced to stop updating, yet still writing the final chapter for the readers who stayed.
Rumble!
This time, even the Great Saintness dared not stop the silver dragon. She allowed it to pierce through the fortress wall.
The Great Saint King broke out in a cold sweat. Beneath his long sleeves, blood streamed freely from his arms.
“Emmanuel… this is as far as I can go. The peaceful golden age your grandfather dreamed of… it’s up to you now…”
Santiago looked up toward the sky, leaning on his spear with a smile as he slowly closed his eyes.
“Santiago!”
Up on the fourth fortress wall, Jane could no longer contain her sobs.
Yorick was still locked in brutal combat with the four foreign triple-S-ranked experts. He was on the verge of being overwhelmed when suddenly, a graceful figure dropped from the sky.
“Jane!”
Isabella was overwhelmed with emotion.
Bam! Bam!
With elegant, dance-like movements, Jane kicked away the enemy who was about to ambush Yorick.
The battlefield froze in shock.
“Dance Sage, how could you?!” One of her stunned comrades shouted.
But Jane ignored him entirely. She turned to Yorick and yelled, “What are you waiting for? You’re a savage tiger, aren’t you?!”
Yorick snapped out of his daze in an instant. Letting out a beast-like roar, he tore into the enemy, killing two of the lower triple-S rank experts in a flash.
Without pausing for even a second, he launched into the air and took down a third.
The last enemy didn’t dare linger. He turned and fled.
But how could he outrun a tiger?
Raaagh! Yorick lunged like a savage beast, ready to rip the final opponent apart, only to see that graceful figure beat him to it.
She was faster than even he was.
Bam!
The once-unrivaled beauty, famed for a dance that had once stolen the hearts of a city, bloomed with blood under Yorick’s claws.
“Jane!”
“Jane!”
Both Yorick and Isabella cried out in shock.
Even Blake and Rosa stood frozen nearby, completely stunned.
None of them could have imagined that the infamous “angelic b*tch” of Chanaea would, in the end, turn around and fight for them.
“Jane, why would you do this?”
Tears were rare for someone like Yorick, a tiger among men, but at that moment, holding his gravely wounded beloved in one arm, his eyes misted with grief.
Jane, however, smiled as though finally free. “Yorick… thank you. Please take me to Santiago… I couldn’t be with him in life. Maybe in death, I can walk a little farther by his side.”
“Jane… Jane, no…” Yorick’s voice trembled with pain.
“I faked my death and let you take the blame for thirty years… Now I’ve died by your hand. That settles the debt, doesn’t it?” Jane smiled with satisfaction as she closed her eyes. Her final words drifted softly from her lips. “I’ve finally made it right with all of you…”
Yorick dropped to his knees in anguish.
It wasn’t until Blake rushed over and reminded him, “Yorick, the fortress wall hasn’t been destroyed yet! The whole world is counting on us, we can’t let ourselves be dragged down by personal emotions now!” that he snapped back to his senses.
Only then did Yorick force himself to suppress the grief. He poured every last ounce of emotion into striking down the final fleeing lower triple-S-rank enemy and into smashing through the d*mned fortress wall.
Rumble!
Rumble!
At that very moment, it was as if a miracle had swept across the world.
“Boss, look! Something’s changing on the cliff ahead!” Sage rushed to Emmanuel’s side with the report.
Emmanuel immediately stopped absorbing power from the Sun Stones and stepped forward to see for himself.
“Looks like everyone succeeded!”
Joy flooded his face. The path to Solaris Island was gradually revealing itself. He had no idea how much blood had been shed on the other fronts. Their squad was the only one that had managed to preserve its fighting strength.
Elsewhere, when the Great Saintess saw the path to Salaris Island open, she lost all interest in continuing the battle. Without hesitation, she and the Great Saint King entered the island.
“Mia!”
Seeing the enemy retreat, Liora finally called out to her beloved student.
Mia had been there all along, but in the chaos of such a massive war, her presence had been barely noticeable.
“Master!”
“I’m staying here to accompany the Dragon Saint a while longer. Take this spear to Emmanuel when the chance comes. He might need it!” Liora tossed the Blizzard Silver Dragon Spear toward Mia.
“Got it! Mia caught the weapon.
She had planned to go alone, but behind her, over 200 bloodied survivors suddenly stood tall and shouted with fervor, “Please take us with you! We’ll fight for Chanaea’s future to the very end!”
Seeing this, Mia, like her master, felt fresh tears spilled from eyes that had only just run dry.
With so many heroes in Chhanaea, who feared nothing for the sake of their homeland’s safety and the coming golden age, how could such a nation possibly lack destiny?
“Let’s go. No matter what dangers lie ahead, I’ll Walk that road with you!”
The road to Salaris Island had appeared and everyone now surged forward to reach it first.
Whether it was the Holy Fire organization or the forces of the Northern Region, their destination was the same, Solaris Island, even if their goals weren’t aligned.
The Great Saintess and Great Saint King, being the strongest of all, entered Solaris Island first.
Once inside, they discovered that the island was far larger than expected. Military facilities dotted the landscape, and without a map, there was no way to tell which direction led to the core. But before they could explore further, a group suddenly appeared around them, or more precisely, encircled them.
“Well, well. We’ve been expecting you.”
The leader wore a long robe and dressed like a Western missionary. His eyes glinted with cunning intelligence, the Sage Saint.
The Great Saint King was taken aback. There was something off about Sage Saint’s gaze, but he kept calm and responded evenly, “Mr. Orunis, the Holy Fire organization’s army is about to enter Solaris Island in force.”
“Is that so?” The Sage Saint’s smile turned sharp. “But as far as I know, you haven’t completely wiped out Chanaea’s army, have you? And now the two of you come rushing into Solaris Island ahead of the rest, what are you really after?”
A ripple of unease passed between the Great Saint King and the Great Saintess. But the Great Saint King, a seasoned leader of hundreds of thousands, remained composed. “It’s better to lure Emmanuel Lowe’s stragglers in and eliminate them all at once, isn’t it? We came ahead to familiarize ourselves with the terrain and prepare for battle.”
Though his explanation was flawless, dozens of gun barrels suddenly leveled at them without pause.
A storm of gunfire erupted.
“D*mn it!”
The Great Saintess immediately raised a powerful barrier to shield them.
“As expected of the Valois Clan’s bloodline!” The Sage Saint grinned with triumph. “But you two have severely underestimated my calculations. I stopped you here because I already foresaw all of this!”
The Great Saint King and the Great Saintess were instantly alarmed.
The floor beneath their feet clicked. A series of hidden panels slid open, and one after another, bombs began rising on the surface.
Boom! Boom!
A chain of massive explosions tore through the space in an instant.
