Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO

Chapter 2390; He Really Has a Child!

Yorick ignored Blake and stepped forward. Lifting his eyes to look at Jane. “Why did you do it back then?”

“Yorick, I know you and Santiago already know the truth by now. You must really hate me!” Jane looked guilty as she spoke. “To be honest, I never liked either of you from the start. I was just a tool for my father and my mentor.”

Even though he had already known the truth, hearing her from Jane herself still made Yorick feel gutted. Thankfully, Santiago wasn’t here, he would’ve been heartbroken.

He truly loved them, both mother and daughter.

“Then, what exactly were your father and your mentor trying to achieve? Whey were you so willing to be their pawn?” Yorick stayed calm as he continued questioning her.

Jane’s eyes flickered, and tears seemed to be welling up. “My father was actually part of the Eagle Intelligence Bureau from Eagle Nation. He worked to infiltrate and control the political rhythm of Chanaea. Back then, the reason I supported Artemis Barton wasn’t because of you or Santiago, and it definitely wasn’t for the so-called future of Chanaea. It was simply because having a conservative in power would better serve Eagle Nation’s ambition to dominate the world.”

“I see.” Yorick nodded, then asked. “Then, why did you fake your death?”

“I’m sorry.” She appeared genuinely apologetic. “I faked my death partly to cooperate with others in framing you. It’s also because I couldn’t face Santiago anymore. I was afraid he would find out the truth eventually. If I died like that, maybe it was the best ending for him.”

Yorick chuckled, but his eyes couldn’t hide the rage within.

He and Santiago had both been hurt too deeply by this woman. The ridiculous part? They had loved her for over thirty years. And despite being known as the two Saints of Silver Dragon and Savage Tiger, they turned ou to be the biggest fools of all.

“I’m sorry. Truly, I’m sorry. I didn’t want to come back, but I had no choice.” Jane wept as she apologized.

Blake quickly cut in. “Yorick, don’t fall for crocodile tears! She could be pulling some honey traps right now. If you go soft on her, we’re all screwed!”

Yorick gave a slight nod but still pressed on with another question. “One last thing. Were both of your daughters fathered by Baily Gray?”

“Yes.” Jane didn’t try to hide it at all. In fact, she added, “But Santiago and I actually have a child too.”

“What?!? Yorick was stunned.

Isabella and Rosa were equally shocked. Even Blake burst out, “Holy crap, women, are you for real? One kid a year?! Are you still managed to keep that figure?!”

Jane ignored their reactions and went on. “I left a jade pendant engraved with the letter ‘S’ on that child. Later, I had your sister take her to the Holy Fire organization.

“Originally, I wanted her to become the Saintess and help the Five Sages control the Holy Fire organization. That way, we could one day strike against Chanaea and Santiago. But I didn’t’ expect Santiago to fall behind and fail to inherit the Dawnbringer’s position, and the Saintess replacement plan failed too.”

“What?!” Blake was more worked up than anyone. “Isn’t she Emmanuel Lowe’s sister-in-law? She’s died!”

“No, she might… still be alive.” Jane replied.

“The hell she is! You’re just talking nonsense!” He fired back, clearly agitated. “I saw her die with my own eyes. How could she still be alive?!”

“She…” Jane tried to go on, but the foreigners behind her suddenly raised their voices, shouting and cutting her off.

“That’s enough, Dance Sage! Just deal with them. There’s no need to waste any more time talking. This is the master’s command and the divine prophecy. We must carry it out!”

Those foreigners really were obsessed with prophecies. In their eyes, that god was the ultimate being – God Himself.

Jane had no choice. Sheh quickly started playing her lute.

“Watch out, my sister’s just like Liora, she’s a master of musical illusion!” Isabella immediately sat down as well, using her own music to counter her sister’s technique.

“Go, Yorick!” Blake shouted, surprisingly the first to charge forward. He hadn’t meant to be so impulsive, he even hated how hot-blooded he’d become. But luckily, with his sage-level brother behind him, he felt completely at ease charging into battle.

Unfortunately, Yorick was soon surrounded by the newly appointed Four Sages, and danger quickly closed in.

At the moment, Emmanuel stood on the shattered second fortress wall, sensing the fourth battlefield had erupted. But since the formation hadn’t deactivated, he couldn’t see what was happening on the other fronts, nor could he rush over to help.

He also realized that, after one of the fortress walls had been destroyed, the entire formation had shifted. If he tried to push through now, he could end up getting lost, especially when Magnus had already fallen.

Right now, all he could do was trust his teammates and focus on preparing for the next phase of the escalating battle.

He had noticed that the Heart of the Sun on him was resonating with the power of the Sun Stones. By using the Art of Sunflame, he could rapidly recover his strength, maybe even reach a whole new level. He had no concept of divine power, but he imagined that if he becomes strong enough, even slaying a god would be possible.

Meanwhile, on the third fortress wall, the Blackshoot Princes was holding her own in a one-against-three fight.

At first, she didn’t fall behind at all. But Quintus and Dragonics were like cockroaches, impossible to kill. No matter how many times they went down, they kept crawling back up.

With Xarri coordinating the fight, the tide slowly began to turn.

All three of them noticed that the Blackshoot Princess was growing weaker with every clash. Then, when Xarri found an opening, he kicked the princess back and even made her cough up a bit of dark blood.

“Don’t let her near the Saintess!” He quickly warned. “She can probably use her curse worm to absorb the Saintess’ power. She’s not actually that strong on her own!”

“Heh, got it! No one’s lying a finger on my Mackenzie, not on my watch!” Dragonicus wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and grinned proudly.

“Don’t steal my line! I’m the Holy Guardian here! I’d die before I let that woman take Mackenzie’s power, she’ll have to step over my dead body first!” Quintus shouted even louder, his voice shaking with fury.

“You two…” Mackenzie’s eyes were still hazy, but her expression seemed to regain a silver of personal will.

She didn’t remember Dragonicus or Quintus, but the look in their eyes told her on thing; these two men were truly willing to die for her. And for a moment, she wondered, maybe she was supposed to be on their side.

“Hmph, you three pests… You really think you can stop me?! The Blackshoot Princess gaze flared with rage. Suddenly, she pulled something strange out from her clothes.

“That’s a witchcraft worm!” Dragonicus immediately shouted.

“Careful, she’s going all in!” Xarri warned as well.

They all watched as the Blackshoot woman’s right hand morphed into a claw like an eagle’s. Not only that, but wings also sprouted from her back.

“What the hell?!” Quintus’ eyes went wide.

He’d seen his fair share of weird thigs, but transformation like this only existed in zombie apocalypse movies and video games.

“Hehehe… The Great Saintess told me that once I gained the Saintess’ power, I’d evolve into the complete form of a dark angel!”

The Blacckshoot Princess laughed maniacally. Her voice distorted, her smile twisted into madness as she lunged forward like beast. “Give that woman back to me!”
