Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO

Chapter 2388; Three Heroes vs the Blackshoot Woman!

“Hey, arrogant b*stard, go save Mackenzie already!”

Quintus didn’t spare a glance for anyone else on the battlefield. He couldn’t even register the overall situation because the whole time, his gaze had been fixed on one person and one person only, Mackenzie.

“Huh, I was gonna do it before you even say it!”

Dragonicus, naturally the “arrogant b*stard” Quintus had called out, immediately charged forward his spear, aiming to snatch Mackenzie back from the Blackshoot woman. But that overwhelming, thunderous strike of his, was caught midair, with a single hand.

“What the hell!?”

Many onlookers were even more stunned than Dragonicus himself. Among them were Gwain and Xarri.

They knew just how terrifying Dragonicus spear technique was. Even they had no confidence they could block it bare handed, but that Blackshoot woman had done it as if it were nothing.

“Quell!”

Taking advantage of the distraction. Xarri spilled away from Gwain and rushed toward his sister.

Yosef didn’t pursue but simply retreated, taking the momentum with him. After all, he hadn’t come here to kill anyone. His purpose had always been singular, Emmanuel.

He just wanted to test himself one more time, see if he could surpass Emmanuel and witness for himself how the man would meet his end.

“Quell, are you alright?”

Xarri scooped his sister up with one arm.

Quell didn’t even get the chance to respond before she cried out, “Xarri, behind you!”

From behind, Gwain lunged in with his famed blade, lighting, flashing alog the edge as it spun and pierced forward with masterful precision.

Xarri was rarely caught off guard, but this time, he was. His focus had been on rescuing his sister, and by the time he sensed the attack, Gwain’s strike was already in motion. Even for him, escape seemed nearly impossible.

Splat!

In a split second, Quell, severely wounded as she was, threw herself in the way of the blade. Somehow, she had found the strength to shield Xarri with her body.

“Quell!”

Xarri’s eyes locked onto her. But even at a moment of life and death, the always composed Xarri hadn’t forgotten to counterattack.

“Gwain, I’ll kill you!”

In a move that seemed deceptively simple, Xarri struck upward with a sky-slicing stab, perfectly timed to Gwain’s landing. The blade pierced straight through Gwain’s right hand.

Gwain’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Quell’s body had interrupted his momentum, he’d lost the rhythm of his attack. Still, he never expected a seemingly ordinary move to be used so effectively. And it was at that moment he had no choice but to admit he would never surpass Xarri’s martial talent.

“Die!”

Anyone who knew Xarri knew him as a calm genius, a man with the bearing of a king. He never shouted in battle. But now, his emotions finally surged beyond control. Seeing the only sister he had fallen under Gwain’s blade, the malice in his eyes surged for the first time.

The elegant price of a war had become a killer.

Stab, stab, stab…

Gwain tried to defend himself, but Xarri’s raged-filled strikes were relentless. His body was soon covered in gapping wounds. In the end, eyes filled with despair, Gwain departed this world.

The clash of geniuses was certainly captivating, but for Quintus, his attention remained fixed on the fight between Dragonicus and the Blaskshoot woman.

After his initial shock, Dragonicus kicked his spear into the air. It spun sharply, forcing the Blackshoot woman to let go. Seizing the moment, he grabbed Mackenzie and leaped back.

“Heh,” Dragonicus sniggered proudly, “I went easy on you just now since you’re a woman. Didn’t expect you to be that strong. But if you don’t let Mackenzie, go now. I won’t play nice anymore.”

The Blackshoot Princess laughed with even greater arrogance and pointed toward Quintus, who was climbing the high wall. “That guy? I gave him internal injuries with just one kick last time. You think you’re stronger than him?”

“What?” Dragonicus was clearly stunned.

“Airing out my old wounds, huh? Fine. Today, I’m gonna knock all your teeth out!”

Quintus finally vaulted to the top of the wall.

Finally, Dragonicus realized the Blackshoot Princess hadn’t been bluffing.

After the initial shock had passed, he actually grew exited. Spear in hand, he launched into an aggressive assault. “Hah! Quintus, if you can’t beat her, don’t act tough. Wath me avenge you!”

“D*mn it!” Quintus clenched his teeth in fury.

But deep down, he felt it wasn’t honorable for a man to hit a woman. And if two men ganged up on one woman? That was disgraceful. So, even though he was angry, he didn’t’ strike.

Because of that hesitation, he suddenly noticed something strange; the energy radiating from this high wall was similar to the Dark Night Islands, no! It was ten times stronger than what he’d sensed at the Dark Nigh Islands.

The realization filled him with joy. With this, he might have a chance to power up. But just as he prepared to absorb the energy like he had before, he realized something was wrong, the energy wasn’t coming toward him at all.

It moved as though it had a will of its own, streaming toward someone else.

Someone it preferred.

That person was… Mackenzie,

Bam!

At the same moment, Dragonicus’ dominant spear strike was once again caught. The Blackshoot Princes kicked him back, sending him tumbling across the ground in a mess of dust and blood.

“D*mn, this woman’s incredibly strong!”

Dragonicus’ pride took a serious blow. He pushed himself up and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, but the confidence in his eyes was gone.

He couldn’t believe he, a triple-S class Tocvale War God, couldn’t even defeat a woman. That was a disgrace to Chanaea’s name!

“Don’t be discouraged!”

Right then, Xarri leaped onto the wall and revealed the key detail. “She’s drawing power from the Saintess!”

“What?!”

Dragonicus then noticed that the Blackshoot Princess had never released her grip on Mackenzie. He didn’t know what kind of twisted technique she was using, but she was clearly siphoning strength from Mackenzie’s body in a continuous flow.

“I see.” Confidence returned to Dragonicus’ expression. “So, she’s borrowing Mackenzie’s power. In that case, don’t mind if do!”

“Huh! Do all you men love to talk big?” The Blackshoot Princess sneered with playful contempt. “Quit yapping and come take me down then, if you’re all that.”

“D*mn it, let go of Mackenzie!”

This time, Quintus lunged in first, unleashing his full power without any regard for defense. But just like before, the Blackshoot Princes caught his first with one hand and sent him flying with a single kick.

Fortunately, Xarri caught him before he fell off the edge.

“F*ck! F*ck!” Quintus roared in frustration. “Mackenzie! I will save you, I don’t care if it costs me my life!”

Mackenzie looked at the big brute of a man. Her eyes softened slightly. She didn’t know why, but she could tell, he was truly risking his life for her.

“Enough talking. Let’s fight!” Dragonicus charged again, spear gleaming. “Mackenzie is mine to protect!”

At last, the two men set aside their pride and teamed up to strike on the Blackshoot Princess.

Meanwhile, Xarri stayed on the side, his sharp gaze calmly analyzing every opening in her movements.

Bam! Bam!

Even with Dragonicus and Quintus working together, they still couldn’t overpower her. Both of them were kicked back yet again.

Just as the Blackshoot Princess was reveling in her dominance, a flash of sword light slashed toward her arm, the one holding Mackenzie.

Startled, the Blackshoot women’s eyes went wide. He had cleverly struck at her blind spot. No matter how strong she was, her body was still made of flesh and blood. To avoid losing an arm, she had no choice but t release Mackenzie.

“Forgive me, Your Holiness.”

Xarri didn’t gloat for even a second. He was well aware that even without the Saintess’ power, the Blackshoot woman was still stronger than any one of them. That was why he didn’t make the mistake of staying put to guard Mackenzie. Instead, he dove forward and tackled her way, just as the Blackshoot women lunged toward them.

“Ah!”

Seeing Mackenzie about to fall, both Dragonicus and Quintus rushed forward the same time.
