Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO
Chapter 2348; The Return of the Unwanted Children
“Mr. Gwain, we’re in trouble!” The steward rushed into the hall in a panic.
Like Gwain, Wyatt, the others of the Lannister family, and their sparring partners were training in the hall.
As the presidential election concluded, the Lannister family had to maintain a non-political stance and focus on improving their martial arts skills. Seeing the steward in a rush, they furrowed their brows.
After shoving his sparring partner out of sight, Gwain reproached the steward, “What’s the rush? You’ll embarrass yourself if you don’t stop.”
“Mr. Gwain, some people out there claim to be seeking revenge!” the steward reported.
Only then did Gwain’s expression turn serious. He narrowed his eyes and asked, “Who are those brutes? How many people are there?”
Wyatt had a feeling that a significant change was about to happen. Everyone knew better than to mess with the Lannister family. Whoever dared to seek revenge was either a fool or confident in their strength.
“Mr. Gwain, there are only three people, but they’re tough opponents!” the steward answered mournfully. “We tried to stop them, but they knocked all our people down in the blink of an eye!”
“What? Only three?” The martial artists gathered around Gwain gasped in disbelief when they learned the news. There are only three of the, yet they’re bold enough to cause a scene on our territory. Are they out of their mind?
“Cut the bull! Who are those people?” Gwain’s patience waned.
A female voice coldly cut the steward off before he could answer. “It seems like you’re in the middle of reporting. I regret to say I have overestimated your work efficiency.” The idea of some people invading the Lannister family’s territory was unimaginable.
However, the three people who soon emerged before them cleared their doubts. The trio were remarkable fighters.
“Xarri, Quell, Emmanuel! What do I expect? It’s you, indeed.” Gwain gritted his teeth and clenched his fists involuntarily. Nervousness emanated from him.
The mere presence of Xarri made him tremble. Emmanuel’s presence only made things worse. He couldn’t help but feel anxious.
Emmanuel remained silent and gave the stage to Xarri and Quell. He was just there for moral support.
Therefore, he didn’t bring any martial arts master, thinking it might steal the limelight from the siblings and even traumatize the Lannister family.
“What do you want?” Gwain asked through clenched teeth. “You came here uninvited, Do you have a death wish?”
Quell wanted to retort as Gwain didn’t seem as calm as he had hoped, but Xarri signaled her to stay back and let him handle it.
As the first ruler of the Dark Night Island, he was level-headed and avoided wasting time on trivial matters. He believed pretense and mockery were unnecessary.
“We’re here to take over the Lannister family!” He cut to the chase. His calm announcement caused a stir among the crowd.
Gwain was no exception, but he put forth a calm facade and sneered. “Did I hear you right? Is that a joke? Who are you to demand that position?”
Quell couldn’t stand his arrogance and attempted to fight him, knowing the grudges between them couldn’t be resolved just by talking.
Xarri stopped her again as his calm gaze scanned the crowd. “The Lannister family falsely accused my father of stealing the Dragon Tome and banished him from the family. You even tried to exterminate our family. But now, it has been clarified that the Dragon Tome never belonged to the Lannister family in the first place and was stolen by the Summerton family. It proves my father’s innocence. The Lannister family owes us an apology.”
Since a fight was inevitable, he wanted to start with a good reason. This approach marked the difference between him and Quell. A true ruler didn’t just seek to oppress others forcefully but to earn respect by conviction.
“Yes, I can testify to that. I came here as the third-party notary unit,” Emmanuel interjected.
As he was the Northern Region Supreme Commander with twenty thousand troops stationed in Zovince at his back and call, people had to take his words into consideration.
“That happened in the past. I have nothing to do with it!” Gwain harrumphed, keeping his chin up despite knowing he was at fault. “Even if your father didn’t steal the tome, he lost to my father in the martial arts competition. Therefore, he has no right to lead the clan.”
“Yes! Mr. Gwain is right!”
“Neither you nor your father has the right to lead the Lannister family!” Immediately, Gwain’s supporters rallied behind him.
The clan’s loyalty had long shifted toward Eric and Gwain. They no longer remembered the injustice Victor had faced.
“Calm down.” Xarri once again prevented his impulsive sister from taking actions and smiled knowingly at Gwain. “Since it was been confirmed that my father didn’t betray you, then we, his descendants, are naturally members of the Lannister family.”
“It’s not for me to decide whether you can return to the family. The Four Elders of the Lannister family should decide that.” Gwain tried to bide time with an excuse.
Xarri knew Gwain was causing a delay in his plans, so he drew his weapon and slashed forward swiftly. The sword energy spread like a crescent moon, splitting the hall in half.
Xarri’s agility took Gwain aback.
The noise of the roof collapsing snapped the crowd out of their trance. The defining roar sent shivers down everyone’s spine.
“Now, they should check on such a commotion, right?” Xarri calmly raised his weapon and pointed it at Gwain. “It doesn’t matter even if they don’t show up. I’ll go through you first. According to the family rules, I’ll become the heir after defeating you.”
“You -” His confidence rendered Gwain speechless.
Although his father’s teaching helped him improve his martial arts skills, his defeat to Xarri on Divine Mountain still haunted him, making him hesitate to take the challenge.
“In that case, you two should fight.” At that moment, a thunderous voice echoed from above. Emmanuel couldn’t contain his surprise. He hadn’t expected to encounter such a powerful fighter ono the trip.
The next moment, three men and a women with intense auras descended from above. Yet, they landed silently on the ground, indicating they were top-notch martial artists.
They exerted much stronger pressure than Gwain.
“Uncle Hati, Uncle Skoll, Uncle Helenus, Aunt Cassandra, please to meet you. I’m Xarri.” Xarri quickly paid his respects to the four elderly.
Despite Quell’s stony face, she followed suit and paid respects to them. Gwain and the others also greeted the group with respect.
However, their arrival put him in a foul mood. After all, their presence meant he lost the leadership in the situation.
“I see. Victor’s children have returned.” Hati Lannister stroked his beard and stated, “Judging from your demeanor, you are as good as your father! It’s commendable!”
Xarri simply nodded in acknowledgment.
“And I suppose you’re the Northern Commander, Emmanuel Lowe.” Hati turned to Emmanuel.
“Yes,” Emmanuel nodded with a neutral face.
“Talents are emerging in the Northern Region. Back then, the four of us had fought Santiago, and it was a draw even though it was four against one. I wonder if you could surpass him?” Hati smirked, attempting to fathom Emmanuel’s strength.
Emmanuel’s answer surprised him. “The said man is my master. He certainly is stronger. However, today is about Xarri. If possible, I don’t want to fight any of you. If you insist, I can only surrender.”
