Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO
Chapter 2340; General Elric’s Humbling Plea
“General Elric, the situation is critical!”
An elderly doctor with a long white beard spoke gravely. “The War God has long suffered from internal injuries sustained during his service. Now, after resisting the immense pressure, those injuries have flared up again. His organs are severely damaged!”
“All of them?” Elric’s eyes winded in shock. He knew their commander’s old injuries had been triggered by a silent clash Emmanuel’s aura, but he never imagined it was this serious.
Sign… This is all because Commander Sheffield-Grey is too proud to admit defeat. He’s always been like that, stubborn to the bone since he was young. If he were in good health, there’s no way he’d lose to Emmanuel, But in his current state, how can he possibly go head-to-head with the Northern Region Supreme Commander?
“I don’t care! You’re all well-known divine doctors from Zovince. You must save the 6-Star War God! If not…” Elric didn’t finish his sentence, but the threat in his voice was unmistakable.
As expected, the twelve doctors trembled. They exchanged nervous looks, each reflecting helplessness and fear.
Elric was furious. He had seen these doctors boast about their abilities, making fortunes from their fame, but now, when a life needed saving, they were silent.
“You frauds, so eager to flaunt your skills! If the commander dies, I’ll expose your false reputation to the public. And I’ll make sure your names are buried with him!”
“What?!”
The twelve doctors were terrified, but none dared to claim they could save Dragonicus.
“Guards!” Elric snapped. “Arrest these charlatans!”
“Yes!”
A squad from the Fierce Claw Army stormed in and detained the twelve men.
The crowed, watching this unfold, was outraged. These were doctors, not gods. Commander Sheffield-Grey’s condition is beyond saving, what can they do now? And to top it off, they’re being humiliated. It’s unbearable.
Despite the protest, Elric paid no attention. With his military power, he feared no one. Killing was as simple as slaughtering chickens.
“Wait! I have a suggestion, there might still be a way to save the 6-Star War God!”
At the critical moment, the oldest doctor, Makoto Hybren, spoke up. “If we can find the Ghost Doctor, I’m sure he can save the Commander!”
“The Ghost Doctor?”
The name caused a stir. Every doctor in the room froze, their expressions filled with awe, Some even nodded in reverence.
In the world of medicine in Chanaea, who hadn’t heard of the Ghost Doctor? His reputation was unmatched.
Healing the dead, regenerating tissue, reviving those on the brink of death, while such feats may sound like fantasy, the Ghost Doctor had performed feats that were close to miracles. Saving someone like Dragonicus would be well within his power.
“The Ghost Doctor…” Elric though no medical expert, recognized the name but couldn’t recall why. “Then contact him right away!”
“General Elric, we would if we could, but the Ghost Doctor is elusive. He roams the world freely, and tracking him down is no easy feat,” Someone responded, choosing their words carefully.
“Hmph! I don’t care! If Commander Sheffield-Grey dies, none of you will leave here alive!” Elric threatened once more, his voice echoing with authority.
The doctors were on the verge of tears. They had never imagined this would happen!
Despite the uncertainty, Elric wasn’t willing to sit idle by. Loyal to Commander Sheffield-Grey, he ordered his intelligence network to search the entire Tocvale Border for any trace of Ghost Doctor.
Within a day, a report came back.
“General Elric, the Ghost Doctor has not been in over a year, but he has a direct disciple. The disciple is currently in Zovince.”
“Really? Who is it?” Elric’s eyes lit up with hope.
The Northern Region Supreme, Commander Emmanuel!”
“What!?”
The report hit Elric like a thunderclap. No wonder the name sounds familiar. The Ghost Doctor was once a close friend of the late Mr. Adkins, and Emmanuel had been his personal disciple. This is a disaster! Forget whether Emmanuel could save the Tocvale Commander, why would he even bother?
Commander Sheffield-Grey had not only tried to steal his woman but had nearly killed him as well! How could anyone expect Emmanuel to repay hatred with kindness? Even a fool would knew that’s never going to happen.
“General Elric… what should we do now?”
The subordinate, sensing Elric’s dilemma, urged him to act quickly.
“General Elric, you must go and invite the Northern Region Supreme Commander to help. If he doesn’t save Commander Sheffield-Grey, the entire Tocvale could collapse!”
Elric let out a deep sign. He understood the logic, but just thinking about this situation made his scalp go numb. What kind of cursed fate is this between the Tocvale and Northern Commander? Sigh….
Although Elric had never interacted with Emmanuel, he had long heard of the Northern Region Wolf. He’s truly unparalleled in both medicine and martial arts, people say he can snatch lives from the hands of Hades himself.. though, that might be a bit of an exaggeration. If I were him, I definitely wouldn’t save Dragonicus either! Why save a man who tried to take my women and even kill me? Only fool would do that!
Despite his thoughts, Elric’s legs moved of their own accord, leading him to the iron door of the prison.
As he approached, his legs felt heavy, as though filled with lead. He could barely summon the strength to take another step.
Inside the cell, Emmanuel, sensing Elric’s presence, turned and spoke calmly, “General Elric, did you come for something?”
Elric was taken aback.
“You’ve come for Commander Sheffield-Grey, haven’t you?” Emmanuel asked, his voice full of certainty, as if he already knew everything.
Elric sighed once more.
He had always been a man of iron on the battlefield, willing to sacrifice his life. Commander Sheffield-Greay was more than just a man, though he was the spirit of the Tocvale Army, a symbol of their hope and strength.
His life wasn’t just his own; it was tied to the future of Tocvale and perhaps even Chanaea itself. Elric had no choice but to swallow his pride.
With a deep breath, he opened the iron door and stepped inside.
Emmanuel remained silent, watching him with unreadable eyes.
Elric took a deep breath, removed his military cap, and respectfully placed it in his left hand. He then approached Emmanuel and delivered a solemen salute.
“Elric, Four-Star General of Tocvale, salutes the Northern Region Supreme Commander!” His voice echoed loudly, drawing the attention of everyone outside the prisono.
Many gasped in disbelief. What in the world is going on?
“What’s this? Did Dragonicus send you to execute me?” Emmanuel asked, his tone teasing.
Elric broke into a cold sweat. Without warning, he fell to his knees, his voice desperate.
“Commander, you’ve misunderstood me! If you hold any grudge against Tocvale, I take full resposibility. Even if it costs me my life, I do not fear death. But I beg you, for the sake of the Chanaea’s future, please let go of past grievances and save Commander Sheffield-Grey!”
What?! As soon as those words left his mouth and he dropped to his knees, everyone outside the cell was stunned. The Tocvale War God might die? And the only one who can save him is the Northern Region Supreme Commander he had ordered imprisoned?
Emmanuel remained unmoved, as if he had expected this moment.
He chuckled softly. “I knew you would come to beg me,” he said. “I wouldn’t have allowed this to continue otherwise.”
“You truly live up to your reputation as the Northern Region Supreme Commander,” Elric muttered in awe.
He lowered his head in a deep bow, his voice sincere, “Please, I beg you, save Commander Sheffield-Grey! As long as you agree, I will repay you with my life!”
