Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO
Chapter 2335; The Duality of Man
As everyone watched the reunion between Santiago and Xylie, each person had their own thoughts.
Some felt relief, other happiness.
For Yuna, it was anxiety and reluctance, though.
She immediately turned to look at Isabella. In truth, Isabella had never been found of this disciple. Her decision to take Yuna in was more out of respect for Teddy and Jane than genuine affection.
Yet, with Santiago and Xylie’s reunion now being so intense, Isabella felt she could not leave Yorick alone.
She spoke, “Yorick, Yuna is competitive, much like you, and looks more like Jane. If you choose to stay in Chanaea, having someone around to look after you might be better!”
Yuna feigned surprise, but deep down, she was on edge.
Though she believed Santiago was Emmanuel’s mentor, making him her father would bring significant advantages. But Yorick, being a Savage Martial Saint with national recognition, could offer similar benefits. She feared that if he rejected her, she might have to proactively acknowledge him as her father.
“It’s all well and good, but Jane and I have never had a marital relationship, and her daughter means little to me… ”
“Dad!” Before he could finish, Yuna interrupted, “I’ve been lonely all my life, and i long for the love of my parents. If you accept me as your daughter, I will care for you deeply from now on!”
Her resemblance to Jane softened his heart, and he sighed. “If you don’t mind, you can be with me from now on. With me, no one will dare to bully you!”
“Thank you, Dad!” Yuna quickly put on a sweet expression, snuggling next to him.
Suddenly, Simba roared from outside, nearly scaring her to death.
“Simba, behave yourself!” Yorick called out.
Simba lazily lay down again, making Yuna uneasy. What if Yorick isn’t around? Will Simba eat me? It’s a frightening though! D*mn tiger, stop bullying me!
The next day was a historic one for Chanaea, and an eventful one for Zovince.
Besides the president hosting a banquet at Golden Ivy Hall to welcome the Three Saints, Dragonicus also threw a grand feast in Zovince to celebrate his title as Chanaea’s only six-star general.
The invitations had not only gone to all the elite figures in Zovince but also to Emmanuel and Mackenzie.
Emmanuel and Mackenzie had no rest. Just as they were still calming the Wolf Warrior members, they were now deciding where to go.
“I will definitely go to Golden Ivy Hall. Santiago is my mentor!” His decision was clear.
It was not that he harbored any ill feelings toward Dragonicus, but compared to everything else, Santiago was more important.
“I get it!” Mackenzie sighed. “But I don’t quite understand Dragonicus. Hosting his own feast and inviting all the notable figures in Zovince seems like he’s trying to establish his own power here.”
Emmanuel’s brow furrowed. “Are you suggesting that Dragonicus has rebellious intentions?”
With 10,000 soldiers still stationed in Zovince, if Dragonicus were to rebel, it would be far worse that Salem.
Although the 20,000 soldiers from the Northern Region had not yet returned, a conflict would surely result in bloodshed, shaking the very foundation of Chanaea. External forces would seize the opportunity to destroy the country, and the consequences would be unimaginable.
“No! that’s not what I meant!” Mackenzie shook her head. “This is what I can’t understand about him. He’s both good and evil. It’s like I don’t know him at all, but at the same time, I feel like I do.”
Upon hearing this, Emmanuel reconsidered, “In that case, I’ll attend his banquet to figure out what he’s up to.”
“And what about Mr. Santiago?” she asked.
“I’ll send someone in my place. Dragonicus’ every move effects the fate of Chanaea. I need to keep a close watch on him.”
His gaze turned steely. “If necessary, for the stability of Chanaea, I won’t hesitate to take him down!”
Mackenzie shuddered at his words, but she forced herself to stay calm. I’ll come with you, I want to understand this man too!”
In truth, what she wanted to understand most was why she felt such a strange familiarity with him.
Emmanuel did not object. He knew that Mackenzie always carefully weighed every decision. So, the couple went to attend Dragonicus’ coronation banquet.
The venue was a place-style grand hotel, previously owned by the Sheffield-Grey family.
As the entered, they were taken aback to find almost all the influential figures in Zovince present, namely Albert Cooper, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Benjamin Lopes, they Deputy Minister of Finance, Mateo Zervos, the deputy mayor; Cynthia Lawson, the head of Cultural Headquarters of Chanaea, and Sebastian Zipper, head of the Party Outreach Officers.
There are to many to count!
Mackenzie, the new president of Chamber of Commerce, was also present, making it a gathering of country’s top dignitaries, except for the president.
Everyone was incredibly respectful, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the six-star general who had shaken Chanaea.
This evening, no matter how important an official, no matter how prominent a figure, all become background players to Dragonicus.
The reason was simple as the strongest ruled the world, and the 10,000 soldiers loyal to him were still in Zovince. Even the president had to tread carefully around them, let alone these high-ranking officials.
After Emmanuel and his wife arrived, they kept glancing at the clock. The banquet had already begun, but Dragonicus had yet to make his appearance.
What’s he up to?
Meanwhile, in a luxurious room behind the banquet hall, Dragonicus was preparing to make his entrance when he noticed an unexpected visitor behind him.
“How dare you!” He suddenly shouted coldly.
Eric was startled, quickly turning around only to see another person in the room, It’s Ezra!
He immediately aimed his gun at Ezra, but Ezra stood unflinching, remaining expressionless.
In the next moment, a voice came from the door. “6-Star War God, shall we talk? I believe we have some topics in common.”
It’s Gautier!
The soldiers outside the door immediately went into defensive mode, ready to shoot the intruders at Dragonicus’ command.
“Heh, just a couple of mangy dogs.” He sneered, not giving the order. “I, a 6-Star War God, have no interest in speaking to mangy dogs.”
“Perhaps we do?” Ezra grinned slightly. “Your father died a tragic death. Don’t you want to know the truth? Are you not afraid of following in his footsteps?”
Dragonicus’ expression shifted dramatically. He turned to Eric. “Go outside and guard the door. No one enters without my permission!”
Eric trembled slightly but still saluted and obeyed.
He never worried about the safety of the Tocvale Commander, as in his heart and the hearts of Tocvale’s soldiers, the Tocvale War God was invincible.
