Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO
Chapter 2093; Emmanuel vs Gwain! Chapter
“That’s exactly my intention!” Emmanuel met Gwain’s provocation with a cold, fearless gaze. “You kidnapped my sister and tormented her-I haven’t settled that with you.
Today is the perfect time!” Gwain’s expression stiffened. Behind him, the Lannister Family’s elites looked equally stunned.
Some of the older ones thought this young man was incredibly audacious. Was he just ignorant, or did he truly have the confidence to back it up? Seeing Gwain hesitate, Emmanuel pressed on, “Gwain, are you representing the Lannister Family for a one-on-one duel, or are you all joining together until one side is defeated?” as soon as he finished speaking, the warriors from Dark Night Island raised their arms and shouted.
It had been a while since they’d had a good brawl! The more renowned the opponent, the more excited they felt.
The Lannister Family members were clearly taken aback-these people were truly fearless! Gritting his teeth and clenching his fists, Gwain said fiercely, “Since you’ve come to the Lannister Family today, this is now the concern of the entire Lannister Family. We will, of course, stand united and face you together!”
No one in the Lannister Family was a fool. They all heard it loud and clear- Gwain was intimidated by Emmanuel, especially after what had happened before, a story well-known throughout the Lannister Family.
“No! This is not a matter for the entire Lannister Family!” At that crucial moment, an elder stepped forward.
“Uncle Hilarion!”
“Grandpa Hilarion!” For a moment, the Lannister Family members called out in unison.
The man who arrived was none other than Hilarion Lannister. Although he had never held the position of the family head, his seniority and numerous contributions to the Lannister Family earned him deep respect-he was a figure of high virtue and authority. Having managed family affairs for many years, Hilarion had a significant influence on the Lannister Family, with many members looking up to him.
Gwain was no exception; he had to show him same respect. Even his father held this elder in high regard. After all, both father and son had received martial arts training from Hilarion in their younger years.
“Gwain,” Hilarion said, his voice steady. “I understand that this began because you once abducted his sister. Now that she’s missing, it’s reasonable for him to come seeking answers from you. This matter involves no one else in the Lannister Family.”
He continued firmly, “Since this is a personal grievance, it should be settled privately. As for the matter of them allegedly killing Hank, there’s no solid evidence as of yet, so let’s set that aside for now.”
“This…” Gwain was taken aback. My uncle is throwing me under the bus. With someone challenging us right at the Lannister Family’s doorstep, how could he claim it had nothing to do with the family? Emmanuel, on the other hand, wasn’t sure of the old man’s motives but respected the fairness in his words.
“Mr. Gwain, he’s around your age and come here specifically for you. Can’t you handle him on your own?” Hilarion pressed.
As an elder of the Lannister Family, Hilarion certainly hoped the younger generation would carry on the family legacy with pride. The Lannister Family having weathered hundreds of years of ups and downs, had never shied away from any challenge.
Now, with Shoiya’s Martial Saint targeting them, calling out the Lannister Family as his final stop, Gwain, as the young master, was the one everyone looked to with high expectations.
If he couldn’t even hold his ground against a peer, how could he be expected to face Shoiya’s Martial Saint?
“Grandpa Hilarion, I-” Gwain hesitated. He knew Hilarion’s character well. His grandpa had always been dedicated to training the younger generation through various challenges, which was why he held the role of the family’s Chief Instructor.
In the past, Gwain had welcomed these tests and, by excelling in them, had risen above his peers to earn his current status.
Now, with so many eyes on him and his position as the young master, he knew he had no choice but to face the challenge, no matter the difficulty.
“What’s the matter?” Hilarion asked.
“I’m willing to face Emmanuel one-on-one to defend the honor of the Lannister Family!”
Gwain adopted a fearless stance. Though Emmanuel’s palm strike had terrified him back in Eldoria, he had since returned to Zovince and mastered half of the Dragon Tome. While his understanding was incomplete, it still enhanced his inner strength to a certain extent. Coupled with the Lannister Family’s array of martial arts, he felt he had a real chance to take on Emmanuel.
“Good!” Hilarion exclaimed with excitement. “There’s long been talk in the Chanaea’s martial arts world that the Northern Wolf Warrior and the Southern Lannister stand as equals. Let’s see if the Northern Wolf Warrior truly deserves to be ranked alongside Lannister!”
The Lannister Family members raised their arms in unison, cheering to boost Gwain’s morale.
“Commander, Gwain’s boldness today seems suspicious-be on guard!” Sage whispered to Emmanuel.
Emmanuel nodded, entirely un phased. He believed that in the face of absolute strength, all tricks were ultimately futile.
Both sides retreated, clearing a large space in the front courtyard for the two elite warriors.
“Come on!” Gwain leaped forward, performing several graceful and confident maneuvers in mid-air before landing lightly in the center.
In contrast, Emmanuel simply walked over calmly.
As they locked eyes at close range, Gwain sneered, “Emmanuel, you killed Hank Sheridan and come here to cause trouble. If you die here, no one will say a word against the Lannister Family!”
“Save the talk; I’m on a tight schedule,” Emmanuel replied m dismissively. With Gwain hesitating to make the first move, Emmanuel struck with a direct punch.
To be honest, Emmanuel hadn’t yet gauged Gwain’s true strength. This being their first real confrontation, he knew he had to test the waters.
Gwain intercepted his fist with one hand, performing a ‘Nimble Swallow Maneuver’ in mid-air. He countered with an overhead strike aimed at Emmanuel’s head, only for Emmanuel to dodge to the side. However, it turned out to be a feint.
Gwain quickly shifted to the ‘Swimming Dragon’s Tail’ stance, which Emmanuel blocked, before transitioning again into the “Scorpion’s Tail Whip,” narrowly missing Emmanuel’s face with a powerful kick.
The experts from Dark Night Island watched in stunned silence. Gwain’s moves were indeed skillful, intricate, and hard to predict! His strikes flowed seamlessly, leaving no opening for defense. Fortunately, Emmanuel’s prowess surpassed that of the Lannister Family observers. With a loud shout, he deflected Gwain, creating space between them.
After exchanging several probing moves, both fighters began to reevaluate each other. Emmanuel realized Gwain’s techniques weren’t just flashy tricks; his style had even more variations than Wyatt’s. Meanwhile, Gwain’s confidence grew with each passing second. He had initially been intimidated, knowing Emmanuel had once fought Yorick to a draw, whereas he himself couldn’t withstand even three of Yorick’s moves. But now, it seemed Emmanuel wasn’t as formidable as the saintly-level Yorick.
“Well done!” Hilarion cheered, stroking his beard, heard, bolstering Gwain’s resolve as the Lannister Family echoed their support.
With newfound confidence, Gwain sneered, “Heh, Northern Wolf Warrior, looks like I’ve overestimated you!”
Emmanuel brushed the dust off his hands and smiled back. “Bring it on!”
“Enough posturing! Today, I’ll defeat you! Soon, the peak of the Chanaea’s martial world will belong to me only!”
This time, Gwain took the offensive, launching his deadly ‘Parallel Palm’ technique. Even the slightest strike could be lethal. The fingers also moved with lightning speed and dexterity, making it nearly impossible to defend. Impressive-truly worthy of the Lannister Family’s legacy, Emmanuel thought, secretly amazed. He didn’t dare underestimate this move, quickly retreating to avoid the strike’s deadly edge.
