Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO

Chapter 2077; Yorick Dotson Arrives in Zovince

“Claudette! What brings you here?” Beatrix put down the phone, beaming as she saw Claudette enter.

Lately, Claudette had been a great help, even risking her life twice to save Emmanuel. She was a highly reliable figure, and the entire Quillen family trusted her deeply.

“Is your sister having trouble in the West End and needs backup?” Claudette asked curiously.

“Yes, she’s asking us to send over a million carp!”

“A million carp?!” Claudette’s eyes went wide in surprise.

“Hehe, I had the same reaction as you when I heard it! But even if it costs a few million, it’s nothing compared to recovering assets worth billions. That’s like using small bait to catch a big fish!”

Ever since taking charge of the Company, Beatrix had become quite the strategist. “And hey, after we retrieve the billions, we can restock the carp and eat them ourselves!

Claudette chuckled, her smile pure and radiant, so beautiful it left Beatrix momentarily mesmerized. After a brief pause, she sighed, “Emmanuel’s got no taste! Magnus may be a rogue, but he’s got a sharp eye for beauty.”

“Who’s Magnus?” Claudette asked, seizing the opportunity to learn more.

“Oh, him? Let’s see… he’s a troublemaker through and through!” Beatrix tapped her chin thoughtfully, about to recount the story, when Laura suddenly entered.

“Claudette!” Laura called, interrupting their chat with deliberate timing.

“Mom, what brings you here?” Claudette turned to her with a warm smile, adressing her as “Mom” with a newfound ease.

“I was looking for you, sweetheart. Someone said you were here, so I come over!” Laura took Claudette’s hand, smiling.

“Curious about who Magnus is?” “Yeah, the name sounds familiar. Beatrix said he’s a villain?” Claudette blinked in question.

“Oh, he’s a villain, alright-one out to steal your heart! Come along; let me fill you in.” Laura took Claudette’s hand, winking playfully at Beatrix on her way out.

“Well, you’re the stepmom-tell her however you like!”

“Mom, who exactly is Magnus? Do I know him?” Claudette asked the moment they left the office. “He asked us to ship a million carp to the West End to help Mackenzie recover assets worth billions.”

“Magnus… he’s a clever troublemaker-and your childhood friend! He’s been infatuated with you since you were kids,” Laura said with a grin.

“My childhood friend?” Claudette’s eyes lit up with a hint of anticipation.

“Is he good-looking?” Laura chuckled. “Not as handsome as Emmanuel-just average, about five foot eight. That’s why you never liked him!” ah, I see.” Like many women, Claudette had a weakness for looks, and her initial curiosity faded a bit.

“Yep. He’s still single, and so are you, and, well, you’ve lost your memory, so this could be a fresh start. I’m sure he’ll try to pursue you next time you meet. Be prepared!” Laura teased.

Claudette smiled but didn’t press for more, simply thinking to herself, So I had a smart admirer? She couldn’t help but wonder, though: if he was that clever, how had he never won her over? While efforts were underway to arrange the carp airlift in Yeringham,

Emmanuel had his own hands full. That day marked the official announcement of the marriage alliance between the Chapman and Tanner families, and as Nathan’s mentor, Emmanuel had received an invitation to the event.

Over the past few days, he’d tried to contact Xylie, curious to know her thoughts on the marriage, but she seemed unreachable-possibly under some form of restriction. As for Nathan, Emmanuel had asked him directly, and his response was casual. Nathan held a certain admiration for Xylie’s pure beauty and didn’t mind the marriage, seeing it as no bad deal.

However, on his way to The Paramount Regency, a hotel in Zovince, Emmanuel found his car stuck in heavy traffic. The vehicles were at a complete standstill.

“What’s going on?” he asked, noticing they hadn’t moved for some time, Sage rolled down the window, and a Wolf Warrior aide hurried over to report, sir, there’s a Shoiyan fighter challenging the Ironleaf Clan up ahead. Locals have gathered to watch the commotion, and it looks like we won’t be able to pass through this area any time soon.”

Sage frowned and asked, “Boss, should we take a detour to The Paramount Regency?” Emmanuel considered it, glanced at the time, and decided to step out of the car, opening the door himself. “Let’s go check it out.” Sage quickly followed him.

Emmanuel had a hunch that Yorick had arrived in Zovince. Sure enough, as they pushed through the crowd, he spotted a group of people gathered around the entrance to the Ironleaf Martial Hall, with none other than Gwain Lannister-the man widely regarded as the strongest in Chanaea-at the center.

Seeing Gwain here confirmed it: this was likely the day Yorick had chosen to challenge the Eight SuprGrandmasters. Sensing the presence of a powerful fighter, Gwain turned and locked eyes with Emmanuel.

Immediately, several members of the Lannister family noticed Emmanuel’s arrival, and a group swiftly moved toward him.

Emmanuel Lowe, some nerve you have to show your face here today after killing our Hank! You won’t get away today!” An elderly man with a beard confronted Emmanuel first, his emotions running high, ready to strike at any moment.

Sage, ever vigilant, stepped in front of Emmanuel, shielding him. But Emmanuel remained unmoved, asking coolly, “And who might you be?”

“Hmph, I’m Hank’s uncle, Clive Sheridan,” the old man declared proudly. At the mention of his name, the crowd buzzed with recognition.

“So that’s Clive Sheridan, the successor of the Rolling Thunder Fist and the Lannister family’s top retainer from a decade ago!”

“Right! I heard his martial skills are just below the Eight SuprGrandmasters-he’s incredibly powerful!”

“That guy is in trouble today. Clive has a short fuse, and whether Emmanuel Lowe killed Hank Sheridan or not, Clive’s bound to give him hell!”

“Exactly, and with Mr. Gwain here, Lowe won’t stand a chance if he doesn’t run!” The crowd only knew Gwain, unaware that the man before them was Emmanuel Lowe, the Northern Region Wolf Warrior feared across nations far notorious on battlefields.

Emmanuel heard the murmurs, recalling the reputation of the Rolling Thunder Fist. While Clive and his technique were known, Emmanuel remained unfazed,

“I didn’t kill Hank. I’ve already made that clear, and I don’t have time to go over it again. Now, move aside.” A few onlookers began to regard Emmanuel with newfound respect-he truly seemed unshaken by Clive’s formidable reputation.

“Ridiculous! All the evidence points to you, yet you still deny see to it you’re punished!” Clive mistook Emmanuel’s stance for fear masked by pride. assuming he could easily take him down. Without another word, he lunged directly at Emmanuel.
