Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO

Chapter 2056 Gwain Lannister and Yosef Harper

In the large backyard of the Lannister Estate, Gwain continued his frantic experiments. No matter how much he tried, the result was always the same, just as Emmanuel had concluded-the technique was incomplete, leaving him with power he couldn’t fully harness.

“Heh, the great Gwain Lannister, hailed as the number one martial arts genius -this is all the talent you’ve got?” Suddenly, a cold voice echoed through the air.

“Who’s there?” Gwain stiffened, quickly sensing the presence of the intruder.

Without hesitation, he kicked up a stone, launching it toward the figure hiding in the trees at the far end of the yard.

Boom! The stone struck the tree, snapping it in half, and a dark figure dropped down in front of Gwain.

Gwain was taken aback, knowing anyone capable of sneaking into the Lannister Estate must be formidable, but this person’s strength exceeded his expectations. The figure had long hair and a robe, with a sinister aura that made his icy gaze seem even darker and colder than Gwain’s own.

“Let’s spar for a bit,” the intruder said with a cold smirk, his lips curling as he moved, sending a flash of sword light toward Gwain.

He’s fast! Gwain was secretly shocked and immediately used Lion’s Recoil to dodge the attack. It was an effective technique, but the execution looked awkward-definitely not something he would have used if his life wasn’t on the line.

Reacting instantly, Gwain kicked another stone at his opponent, using a long-range attack to counter. As the stranger dodged the stone, Gwain managed to grab an iron rod from somewhere nearby, wielding it as a makeshift weapon.

“As expected of the Lannister family-so well-versed in all forms of martial arts,” the stranger said, his expression growing even more excited. He followed up with Dragon Splash, thrusting his sword toward Gwain. Gwain blocked with the metal rod, countering with a staff technique, but the stranger evaded it.

The two exchanged blows, their fight escalating into a series of strikes and parries. They traded over a dozen moves, neither gaining the upper hand.

Eventually, Gwain managed to press the stronger back, fording him to retreat and leap into a tree, You’re weak,” the stranger sneered, though he hadn’t won, “And you think you deserve to be Chanaea’s number one?”

“Have you come here to die?” Gwain’s eyes flared with a sudden crimson light, and his malice surged.

“Kill me?” The stranger laughed coldly. “Even if you could, killing won’t help you defeat Emmanuel or Yorick!*

“What did you say?!” Gwain’s killing intent intensified, but he didn’t strike. The stranger’s words had clearly unsettled him, and he wanted to hear more.

I’ve faced Emmanuel several times and watched Yorick crush other top martial artists in Chanaea. They’re both on a whole different level, one or two tiers above us,” the stranger continued. “Emmanuel is already in Zovince, and Yorick will be here soon. If you stay at this half-baked level, they’ll humiliate you beyond measure-you’ll wish you were dead.”

“Who are you?!” Gwain gritted his teeth and asked again.

This time, the stranger didn’t hold back. “My name is Yosef Harper! I have deep blood feuds with both Emmanuel and Yorick. We share the same enemies!”

Gwain paused for a moment, taking some time to recognize the name before smirking.

“So, you’re Yosef Harper, the one Emmanuel defeated at the Nuthana Grand Martial Showdown? I didn’t expect your martial arts to have approved so much! Indeed, if Yosef had still been at his level from over half a year ago, he wouldn’t have been able to withstand ten moves from Gwain. But over the past months, Yosef had been relentlessly training and steadily improving. What frustrated him most, however, was that despite all his efforts, Emmanuel’s progress had outpaced his own.

Yosef felt a deep sense of imbalance. He had been training day and night, risking his life, yet he was still being overtaken by someone who, from his perspective, was constantly distracted by things like having children, managing disaster relief, or fighting wars. How could Emmanuel have time to train?!

“Let’s make a deal, Lannister,” Yosef suddenly proposed.

“A deal? You think you’re in a position to make deals with me?” Gwain sneered arrogantly.

“You’re insufferable. If I didn’t need something from you, I’d just sit back and watch Emmanuel or Yorick beat you to death,” he jabbed and continued, “I can teach you how to unleash the full power of the Dragon Tome’s internal strength. In return, you’ll give me your half of the Dragon Tome and throw in your family’s Big Dipper technique.” Gwain laughed even harder at the proposal. “You have quite the appetite. Do you really think I’d agree to that?”

“If you don’t, I’ll be on my way.” Yosef turned, disinterested in wasting more ton someone as prideful as Gwain.

Wait!” Gwain called out, stopping him. “What’s your method for helping me unlock the full power of the Dragon Tome?”

“My family’s unique internal martial arts technique,” Yosef replied with a confident, expressionless gaze.

“Fine, let try it out first,” Gwain demanded coldly.

“You give me the half of the Dragon Tome first!” Yosef retorted, his voice firm.

“Otherwise, if I teach you and you go back on your word, there’s nothing I can do. But if you hand over the technique first, and betray you, you can kill me.

Once I teach you, you’ll immediately see how to unleash the power of the Dragon Tome.” Gwain thought it over for a moment and found Yosef’s reasoning sound.

Gritting his teeth, he said, “Fine! But if you deceive me, I will kill you!” Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Hank had found his fiance, Violet. She was still in tears, demanding that he kill those who had humiliated her.

“Alright, baby, stop crying. Gather your people and follow me, Hank ordered. While Hank might have been subservient to Gwain, he was a major figure in Zovince in his own right. As a grandmaster on par with Wyatt, he had earned a reputation that few dared to challenge, in Nuthana, when Emmanuel earned the title of grandmaster, it reflected the same level of power that Hank had commanded in Zovince, Only those with extraordinary status would dare provoke him.

Violet gathered a group of ordinary thugs whose job was mainly to create chaos and destroy evidence. But when it come to teaching someone a lesson, Hank’s personal involvement would be more than enough. By evening, the commotion at Empire Heights Mall had become the talk of the town. The newly opened Quillenrose had made a splash, especially after the stunning beauty running the store had dared to slap Violet Ashford. Shop owners and bystanders alike were eager to see what tragic fate would befall her.

“They’re here! They’re here!” someone shouted.

In the next moment, a large group of Ashford family thugs flooded into the mall, swiftly disabling security cameras and forcing shoppers out of the area.

Their actions were smooth and practiced, clearly something they’d done before.

Violet, now with her arm wrapped around Hank’s, entered the mall with a smug grin. Her eyes, shadowed by thick eyeliner, gleamed with a cold, dangerous light.

“Hmph, this time, I’m going to make that wretch suffer! I’ll repay my humiliation tenfold!” Violet hissed, her tone icy, as her thugs positioned themselves on either side of Quillenrose. They pulled down black curtains, blocking the view of any passersby.

With that, whatever happened inside Quillenrose would be hidden from view.

No witnesses, no evidence. And with Hank backed by the Lannister family, whose influence reached all corners of Zovince, there would be little anyone could do to hold them accountable.
