Chapter 1942; The Remnants of Victor Lannister’s Faction

With a simple wave, Gwain gestured for Hank to halt, and he immediately stopped.

Ashton furiously recalled what she had learned and managed to recite eight sentences without bothering whether they were accurate. Noticing she was struggling to continue, Gwain turned his attention to Julian.

“Now it’s up to you. As the rightful heir of the Dragon Tome, you should definitely know more!”

“Heh, I’ve committed the entire thing to memory…” Julian replied weakly with a feeble smile. Ashton was a bit taken aback. Could he actually do that? Gwain’s joy was evident as a rare smile tugged at his lips.

“Alright, go ahead and recite the whole thing for me. If you do, I promise I’ll stop causing you trouble!” He was convinced by now that the Summerton Family’s scripture differed from his own, and judging by Ashton’s recitation, it contained a legitimate martial arts technique.

“Sure, but only if you come closer. I’ll only recite it for your ears, “Julian grinned and motioned him to approach. Though a bit wary, Gwain’s desire for the Dragon Tome weighed his doubts, and he stepped nearer to Julian.

“F*ck!” The moment he leaned in, Julian suddenly shot a mouthful of blood in his direction. Gwain managed to dodge it, but the act sent him into a furious rage. “You dare?! You think I won’t kill you for that?” Known for his extreme dislike for anything filthy, Gwain’s rage boiled over as he raised his hand, fully intending to strike Julian down.

Just as things reached a breaking point, a shard of rock came hurtling toward Gwain! Startled, he sidestepped just in time. The rock collided with a tree and penetrated it without shattering!

“Who’s there!?” Wyatt and Hanks, shaken and slow to react, were left with a lingering sense of dread. Had that rock been aimed at them, they would have been dead. Ashton and Julian were equally stunned. Could it be that an expert from the hidden Summerton Family had intervened to save them?

In the next instant, a young man and women, both in their twenties, appeared out of nowhere, and they were complete strangers to everyone present! “Seriously, Gwain? Resorting to such underhanded tactics against people who aren’t even trained in martial arts is truly shameful!” the woman said with frosty expression, looking disdainfully at Gwain. “How can someone like you even be mentioned in the same breath as the Northern Wolf Warrior?”

“You – ” The women nearly lunged at Gwain, but her companion quickly restrained her. “Oh, so it’s Xarri and Quell! I was thinking I had seen you before. But how are you still alive?” Wyatt’s memory clicked, he had believed these two were dead after their mysterious disappearance. To his astonishment, they were not only alive, but Xarri’s commanding presence and skill seemed to rival Gwain’s own. Ashton also noticed that, despite not knowing Xarri, he radiated a sense of immense power, perhaps even surpassing Emmanuel!

Xarri calmly addressed Gwain. “Gwain, how do you have the nerve to label us as remnants? If you’re here at the Ancient Woods to find the Dragon Tome, does it means that you were wrong about my father back then? My fathe never had that book, yet you used it as a pretext to drive him to his death!”

“This -” Hank and Wyatt glanced at Gwain, bewildered. This argument was nearly impossible to counter! But Gwain merely smirked dismissively. “That’s ancient history. Don’t bring your grievances to me! And let’s face it power dictates the truth in this world. If you’re eliminated here, who will remember the past?”

Quell’s anger was palpable, but Xarri remained unruffled. “So, is your plan to eliminate us here and now?”
