Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO
“Just this doll?” Alessandra asked. Growing up in such a wealthy family, how could Miss Sarah not have other toys?
“Oh, you know nothing!” It piqued Felicity’s interest, so she explained, “Sarah has always been competing with Mackenzie. Due to her family status and position on top of her less–than–charming demeanor, she rarely wan anything. I even remember that this was something she succeeded in getting from Mackenzie, and she has kept it ever since…”
Although she started her story with a smile, the smile was replaced with a troubled expression as she leaned against the table. Her breath became uneven as well.
“What’s the matter?” asked Alessandra, rushing to Felicity’s side “I–I’m fine!” Felicity insisted. She tried to maintain her composure, but she definitely looked preoccupied. Now that Emmanuel and Mackenzie are on the Dark Night Island, would they cross paths with Sarah? Others might not know, but she knows Sarah as a tenacious person who would not stop until she has what Mackenzie has.
She was also worried that Emmanuel Mackenzie, and Sarah would run into some trouble, Sarah and Mackenzie, don’t fight over a man until you run into one. Her worry grew and she lost interest in the conversation, which Alessandra noted, are you sure you are okay?”
On just missed Sarah too much” Felicity explained her smile full of maternal love. I’ve been waiting for her return, but I just don’t know when that day will come.
Even though both Sarah and Felicity were not part of the Quillens, they had grown closer over time, surpassing the relationships that many mothers and daughters had.
I just miss Sarah too much!
Alessandra commented, “Oh, Miss Sarah’s too reckless. How could she leave for so long without getting in touch?”
It had been more than a month without any news, making her irritable, but her irritation was directed at Emmanuel and Mackenzie. Why didn’t they let me know how they are doing? The nerves are making me jittery.
At that moment, a servant with the Quillen residence rushed in with a respectful greeting. “Ms. Lenoir, Ms. Cadigan, Old Mr. Quillen and Alfred are back!”
“Alright. Thanks for letting us know,” Felicity replied. Turning to Alessandra with a reassuring smile, she added, “Why don’t you have a chat with him now that he’s back?”
However, before Alessandra could respond, the mansion violently shook, causing both women to struggle with their balance.
A deafening crash sounded a second later, causing the house to shake once more and them to fall to the ground. They were both bewildered and disoriented.
“What’s going on?” Felicity exclaimed, “What the hell just happened?”
Her bodyguard rushed in, clearly panicked, “Ms. Lenoir, we’re under attack! A group of people from an organization is invading the estate!”
“What?!” Felicity could hardly believe it as Yeringham was known for its safety and strict legal system. How could such a dangerous group be in town? Might it be the Holy Fire organization again?
“Ms, Lenoir, Ms. Cadigan, we need to escape through the side gate immediately. The situation is dire!” the bodyguard urged, Felicity hesitated. In the past, she would have fled immediately, but now, she had a strong connection to the Quillen family, “What about Tia and Old Mr. Quillen?”
Ever concerned for the well–being of others, Alessandra was the least worried. She had been in poor health for years and learned to take it one day at a time. If not for the future of Emmanuel and Roselyn, Alessandra would have accepted death with open arms.
Now that Emmanuel was married to Mackenzie, who was now with child, and Roselynn finally settling down with someone, Alessandra knew she had achieved most of her life goals.
“There are assassins avoiding the Quillen residence,” the bodyguard explained and insisted. “If we don’t leave now, I’m afraid we’ll be buried here.”
The explosion and the swarm of assassins indicated that a powerful force was behind the attack, executing a meticulously planned operation.
