Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO
“Go on, Santiago!”
Emmanuel didn’t waste time on pleasantries. As soon as he stepped onto the battlefield, he launched a series of powerful palm strikes that forced the Three Elders to scatter.
“Alright!”
Santiago roared with enthusiasm, “Yorick, let’s go!”
“Say no more!” Yorick immediately unleashed his Sky-Piercing Beast Fist at Eric.
“Still as arrogant as ever.” Santiago chuckled, unfazed by Yorick’s frosty attitude. Facing Yorick as an enemy was terrifying, but having him as a teammate was oddly reassuring.
Yorick’s high spirits had made things easier for Santiago. He timed it just right. When Eric evaded the beastly strike, Santiago’s silver spear surged forward upon his exposed back.
“Father, watch out!” Gwain’s voice cut through the clash of battle. He dashed in with his sword just in time to block the deadly thrust.
“Kids shouldn’t meddle when adults are fighting!” When a flick of his wrist, his silver spear flexed like liquid that hurled Gwain through the air.
Gwain was stunned. How can there be such a gap between my Double S Level and his triple S Class?
Eric moved swiftly, neutralizing the force on Gwain’s body with a twist of his inner energy. Thanks to him, Gwain landed safely.
“Gwain, you’re still young. Your skills are miles apart from these three monsters. You need to train harder!” Eric said with a sigh.
“Father, I’ll fight with you from now on. We’ll take down the two Saints of Silver Dragon and Savage Tiger!” Gwain was fired up. “I don’t care if we win. Even if we lose, it’ll still a tale worth telling!”
“No, It’s impossible for us to win!” Eric was fully aware of the reality.
To outsiders, fighters of the triple S class and a Double S Level respectively should be enough to match two triple S class enemies.
However, in reality, Double S Level and triple S class were world apart. Moreover, Gwain was a pampered kid. He wouldn’t survive the exchanges against either Saints. Worst of all, the two Saints of Silver Dragon and Savage Tiger were stronger than ever. They were beyond their rumored peaks.
Even together, the father and son couldn’t stand a chance.
On top of that, the Three Elders couldn’t possibly defeat Emmanuel. That meant they had no chance of winning.
“Lannister kid, if you insist on jumping in don’t blame us for bullying!” Santiago’s spear flashed again. It was a sweeping blow that tore the battlefield apart.
Gwain froze. Fortunately, Eric swept him away once more using his Downwind Shift.
“Gwain, run! We’ve lost today!” he shouted in the chaos.
“Where to, Father?” Gwain was panicking to the point of tears. Without the Lannister family and his father, he was nothing.
He used to think he was strong and was the chosen one, but his confidence was shattered by the enemy that even Xarri could not defeat. Despair clawed at his chest.
“Leave Chanaea and go to Warlord. He’ll help you!” Knowing full well about Gwain’s current mental state. Eric urged. He gave one final push of encouragement. “You’re still young. One day, you’ll surpass me. I believe in you!”
Just then, the two Saints of Silver Dragon and Savage Tiger unleashed another earth-shattering combo that sealed off all escape routes for the father and son.
Eric knew they couldn’t both make it out. To protect Gwain, he pushed him away, let out a fierce roar, and unleashed Astral with both hands.
However, their force was too overwhelming. His power cracked under pressure, and Eric’s arms exploded in sprays of blood.
“Father!” Gwain dropped to his knees as he was horrified by the sight of Eric’s mutilated body.
“Gwain, go now! Or else, it’ll be too late!” Eric’s voice was laced with blood and pain. Yet he smiled. “Don’t cry! Hold your head high like a true Lannister. You carry the royal blood! You must stand at the peak of the Chanaea on day. Don’t let our ancestors down!”
“Father!” Gwain’s tears streamed uncontrollably.
“Go!” Eric shouted. “Hurry!”
With no other option, Gwain dropped to his knees and cried bitterly. “Father! I swear I will avenge you! I’ll restore the honor of our royal bloodline!”
Only then did Eric nod in satisfaction. With the last of his strength, he launched a final assault against the Saints.
Santiago and Yorick were stunned. they hadn’t expected such terrifying power from Eric. Neither of them could win against him in one-on-one situation.
Boom! Boom!
Eric’s desperate counterattack forced the two Saints to retreat. Even the rear mountain was obliterated by the sheer power.
Elsewhere, Emmanuel took down the Three Elders with his Dragon-Breaking Palm. He was startled when he turned to look.
Eric must not be one of the Seven Saints, but his strength seems to surpass Santiago and Yorick!
But that moment of brilliance didn’t last long. Eric had failed to inflict any fatal blows. In the nest instant, the two Saints of Silver Dragon and Savage Tiger went in for the kill.
“Eric, I’ll kill you!”
“I’ll avenge Jane!”
The Dance of One Spear and the Savage Tiger Roar converged into an unstoppable wave of death.
The Astral Revolution turned futile against this attack. On top of that, Eric’s current state made it impossible for him to strike.
Out of devastation, he tried to use the Jade Cloud to escape. But his right leg was pierced by the silver spear before he could react. The blinding pain hadn’t even faded when his shoulders was torn.
He crashed and crippled heavily with a missing arm and leg and blood pooling everywhere.
Emmanuel inhaled sharply. This is what happens when you provoke the two Saints of Silver Dragon and Savage Tiger!
“Mr. Lannister!” the Three Elders cried out in agony, never thinking that Eric, the head of the Lannister family, would be defeated.
Santiago and Yorick immediately stepped forward to Eric’s body. Eric stared at the sky as he lay on the ground. Despite the blood from his lips, a smile spread across his face.
“Once we boasted of glory at the northern frontier, now while hair greets us in the mirror. Dreams unfulfilled, we face the end, while tears shall soak the robes of those who follow. Yet one day, the wind will rise again and carry us to the peak.
“Gwain, don’t disappoint me.”
Emmanuel frowned at Eric, who still recited poetry while dying like a tragic hero. In the next moment, the silver spear pierce though Eric’s heart.
Santiago growled. “Die if you must. Don’t like you’re some noble martyr after the people you’ve killed!”
Yorick remained silent. Though Eric was no Dawnbringer, he was the second man Yorick had ever acknowledged as strong, but in the end, their paths were never meant to cross.
