Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO

Chapter 2344; The Right Way To Ask for a Favor

“I don’t care!” Dragonicus shouted, tears in his eyes. “Mackenzie and I are meant to be! Everything I’ve done was for the sake of marrying her! I said I would marry her long before you did! Now you’ve stolen her from me – I’m going to kill you!”

Emmanuel couldn’t help but laugh, both amused and exasperated. From his point of view, Dragonicus seemed ridiculous. But if he considered it from Dragonicus’ prospective, what had happened between him and Mackenzie was actually quite romantic. He had indeed come all this way for her, so Emmanuel could understand why he was acting this way.

Still, Mackenzie was his wife now. No matter who the opponent was, Emmanuel wasn’t going to back down. He replied calmly, “You really think you can kill me? Come on, be real with yourself.”

“Why you!” Dragonicus was so furious that it nearly made his lose control.

But after a moment, his expression shifted, and he suddenly burst out laughing. “Haha! Emmanuel, sure, I can’t kill you in my current condition, but would you really just stand there and watch me die?”

Though he often came across as a hothead, Dragonicus wasn’t stupid. Emmanuel was the Northern Region Supreme Commander, the pillar holding the region steady. Because of this, Emmanuel understood exactly how important Dragonicus was to the armies in Tocvale. As long as Dragonicus remained alive, none of the Tocvale vassal states would dare invade Chanaea.

That was why he was confident Emmanuel wouldn’t just let him die. If he did, the vassal states, egged on by Eagle Nation, would definitely launch a war. The result? A brutal bloodbath.

But Emmanuel just chuckled. “You really think I won’t let you die? You’re nothing to me, and you even tried to steal my wife! Watching you die would actually make my day.”

“You!” Dragonicus was speechless with rage.

Had he been at his peak, he would never have tolerated this kind of humiliation. The bigger picture wouldn’t have mattered, he would’ve gone straight for Emmanuel’s throat. Mackenzie was everything to him.

That was all hypothetical now, though.

At this point, he wasn’t just no match for Emmanuel, his life was entirely in Emmanuel’s hands.

“Emmanuel! Are you really going to let me die? If I die, Tocvale will erupt in chaos! Eagle Nation will push the vassals into war against Chanaea. When that happens, thousands of our countrymen will die in battle. Families will be torn apart. It’ll all be your fault!” Dragonicus shouted again because he had nothing else left to use.

“Oh, scary,” Emmanuel said with a relaxed smile. “Is this really how you ask for a favor?” Dragonicus was at a loss for words.

“Even if war does breakout, that wouldn’t be on me. Now you’re trying to guilt-trip me into saving you?” Emmanuel scoffed. “You’re not as important as you think. Do you think you surpass my master, Santiago Adkins, in strength or worth?”

The question struck Dragonicus at his core, making him shrink like a punctured balloon.

“My master’s fate is still uncertain, yet Chanaea is doing just fine without him. If you die, someone else will immediately take your place as the Tocvale Commander. The country doesn’t collapse with the loss of one person, especially in a mighty nation like Chanaea. If you die, I’ll simply recommend someone like Yorick or Quintus to lead the Tocvale armies. They’ll crush the vassals just the same. Do you believe me or not?”

That shut Dragonicus down completely.

Don’t you get it? A powerful country gives rise to heroes, not the other way around.” Emmanuel drove the point home. “Your ego is ridiculous. You should know your place.”

Emmanuel had turned the tide of many battles. But without the might of Chanaea and the backing of the Wolf Warrior Unit, would he have survived against tens of thousands of enemies? He’d have been chopped to pieces by now. Even surrounded by admiration, Emmanuel maintained a calm and focused mind.

Meanwhile, Dragonicus had let his title as a 6-Star War God at only 33 years old go to his head. No one had dared challenge him, which is why he’d lost all sense of perspective. Emmanuel’s words popped his inflated ego, forcing him to question his self-worth.

“put your pride down. Speak properly, and I might save your life for the good of the country.” Emmanuel looked at the hollow expression on Dragonicus’ face and stopped mocking him. His tone grew serious. “But if you’re dead set on being a stubborn idiot, then go ahead and die. Goodbye.” With that, ending the conversation.

Dragonicus glared at him, shaking with fury, his face flushed, and his fists tightly clenched.

In the end, he had no option but to move forward quietly. If he died here, he’d lose everything to Emmanuel. He wasn’t willing to lose everything so he accept defeat for this round.

Just as moved, Emmanuel spoke again. “Is dying what you want?”

The mighty Tocvale War God snapped. “D*mn it! When did I ever say I wanted to die?”

“Then, what are you standing there for? Lie down and take your clothes off.” Emmanuel gave the command in the manner of an older brother scolding his younger sibling.

“D*mn it!” With his teeth clenched, Dragonicus pulled off his shirt and lay down on the icy bed.

Emmanuel finally opened his eyes. Seeing Dragonicus’ physique, soch much like his own, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of respect.

There is no such thing as a naturally gifted war god; every honor in battle is earned through risking one’s life and sheer willpower.

“Elric, come in, “Emmanuel called out. The man waiting outside walked in instantly.

The moment he saw the once-proud commander lying there like an obedient child. Elric almost dropped his jaw.

“What are you staring at? Look again and I’ll kill you!” Dragonicus barked.

“Ahem! I didn’t see anything!” Elric quickly looked away, but deep down, he was thrilled. Only someone like Emmanuel can bring the arrogant Tocvale Commander to heel.

“Bring me the silver needles and supplies,” Emmanuel ordered without missing a beat.

“Yes, Commander Lowe!” Elric saluted and left prepare everything.

Soon after, Emmanuel had the silver needles in his hand and began inserting them into Dragonicus’ body.

Silently, he looked up at the man. Arrogant, yes-but his willpower was extraordinary. His internal injuries were severe, and almost every organ was damaged. The pain from the acupuncture was worse than childbirth by several levels. Yet Dragonicus didn’t make a soud. He just lay there and let Emmanuel do what he needed to do. Clearrly, Tocvale War God hand’t gotton where he was by luck.

While Emmanuel silently acknowledged Dragonicus’ strength, he had no idea that Dragonicus, in turn, was quietly impressed by him. As the needles pierced deeper, Dragoncus could feel the pain slowly turning into relief.

Emmanuel’s frighteningly talented, his medical prowess alone is enough to ignite a lifelong jealousy in me!
