Mistaken Match: Marrying the Enigmatic CEO

Chapter 2334; Father and Daughter Reunion

“Hahaha, come on, drink up!”

Out of the four, Santiago was the most enthusiastic. When he saw Isabella had prepared some of the Tanner family’s finest wine for him, he could not contain his excitement. Waiting for Isabella to raise her glass as the host, he grabbed a large wine jug and raised it high.

Liora, pleased by his energy, elegantly lifted a cup of tea.

The three of them turned their attention to Yorick. Normally quiet, he gave a knowing smile, lifting his bowl of wine, and sighed as he spoke, “It all felt like a dream a decade ago. And now, here we are, aging.”

His poetic words put a slight damper on the atmosphere.

Xylie, having quietly watched the scene, was at first moved by the moment, particularly because these people were connected to her mother, which made it feel familiar. However, upon hearing Yorick’s words, she was left momentarily speechless.

Santiago was ready to reprimand him for killing the mood, but before he could, a young and charming figure stepped in, comforting Yorick. “Mr. Dotson, don’t be so down! It’s not often we’re all together like this, so you should be enjoying the moment!”

“Jane?!” Yorick could not help but exclaim her name when he saw Yuna. She was the women who had long been his ideal.

During their previous gathering in Eldoria, he had never met Yuna in person, as Isabella had kept her away. However, this time, she didn’t stop Yuna from joining them.

Yuna had deliberately dressed in a way that resembled Jane’s fashion sense. The resemblance to the women Yorick had admired from afar was striking, almost identical to the first time he had seen her in the martial arts arena.

As Yorick glanced at Liora and Isabella, wondering if they were playing some kind of illusion on him, he realized they were doing nothing of the sort. With his sharp senses, he could tell the difference between reality and an illusion.

“Mr. Dotson, I have more good news for you!”

As Yuna noticed Xylie sitting behind Santiago, she took a seat next to Yorick, gently linking her arm with his, and continued, “Mr. Hale.. I mean, Mr. Hale has issued a decree appointing you the Big Three of the nation, which are the dragon, the tiger, and the phoenix.

“Tomorrow, there will be a national banquet at Golden Ivy Hall to announce it to the world! That’s where my mother made her name!”

The mention of Golden Ivy Hall made both Yorick and Santiago’s expressions turn dark, as they were clearly recalling painful memories from the past.

Unable to hold back, Xylie finally spoke her mind, “Mr. Santiago, Mr. Dotson, there’s no need to feel sorrow for my mother any longer, and you certainly shouldn’t feel guilty. It was she who wronged you, not the other way around!”

She understood the situation.

Even if Santiago was swamped and could not be with her mother, Jane, should not have committed adultery. There was no denying the harsh truth, even through it was her mother.

Yuna immediately shot Xylie a warning look, signaling her to stop speaking out of turn.

Luckily, Santiago and Yorick did not harbor resentment or hate toward Jane despite what she had done. They had always loved her, even though she hurt them both. Deep down in their hearts, they felt that they were at fault, not her.

“Santiago, Yorick, she has a valid point!” Isabella could not help but interject, “Regardless of who was right or wrong in the past, it’s all behind us now. Our lives are still ahead, and we must take responsibility for our futures!”

“Yes, Isabella, you’re right!” Santiago smiled, lifting his glass again. “I’ll come tomorrow. My youthful dreams have yet to come true. Now that I’ve let go of my dreams, as a soldier, I’ll fight until the very end for the revival of the Chanaea people!”

Liora smiled warmly in response. She had fought to save Emmanuel and defended Congress for the greater good of the country.

In her heart, the nation always came before family and personal issues, which was why she had not supported her father back then, she knew he had secrets.

“If you go, then I’ll go too!” Yorick smiled, explaining. “I never thought I’d return to Chanaea and be a guest in a foreign land. But I truly long to return, to be accepted and acknowledged by my homeland!”

Hearing him speak, the proud Yorick had tears in his eyes. The years of bitterness he had endured for thirty years were evident in his voice.

“You two! One who wandered far from home, unable to return; the other, lost in self destruction. You should have fought for what was right long ago and avoided turning your lives into such tragedies!”

Liora could not help but chide her companions who had fought by her side.

Finally, Santiago could not help but ask Isabella and Liora, “Weren’t you both aware of the truth all along? Why did you keep it from us until now?”

Yorick stared at them angrily too.

Isabella looked innocent, not understanding why they were questioning her.

Liora coldly rebuffed them, “First of all, we are neither gods not prophets. We didn’t try to create some illusion for you. We wanted to rely on the memories in your minds and we didn’t fully understand everything ourselves either.

“Besides, shouldn’t you two be punished? One who cares only about the nation’s affairs, leaving his wife lonely for six years, not trusting his brother. The other gave up his love for his brother, foolishly allowing himself to be falsely accused without defending himself. You both deserve to suffer for your mistakes!”

Both reversed saints, once again, had their heads hung low under Liora’s scolding.

When wrong is done, consequences must follow, and they truly deserve to bear the weight of their past actions!

However, Yuna rolled her eyes and defended them passionately, “Ms. Liora, I won’t let you speak of Mr. Santiago and Mr. Dotson like that! Mr. Santiago is a General. What’s wrong with what he did in the past? If anyone is to blame, it’s my mother for not being able to be alone!

“And Mr. Dotson is even more wrong. He never intended to hurt anyone. Your theory of the guilty victim is absurd, don’t you think?”

Liora could not help but notice Yuna’s sharp tongue. Although her points were valid, she could not shake off the feeling that Yuna’s motivations weren’t entirely pure.

“Sigh, I can’t blame Jane for being unable to handle loneliness. After all, she was only lonely because of me.” Santiago sighed deeply and then suddenly turned to Xylie. “Jane is no longer here. Though we’re not related by blood, Jane was my wife. I will treat you as my own daughter, so would you be willing?”

“Well…” Xylie trembled slightly at his words.

Yuna’s eyes winded. Why do I look more like mom, yet the Silver Dragon Spear Saint had chosen Xylie as his daughter?

“Xylie!”

Liora smiled as she approached her. softly brushing her hair. “I’ve been watching you and the Tanner family in Zovince. Your past is really tragic. With your parents gone, this man is now your mother’s husband, which means, legally, he’s your father.”

Xylie’s eyes filled with tears as she called out, “Dad!”

“Good girl!” Santiago’s tears flowed as he gently embraced Xylie, finally finding some comfort in his heart.

Any child born to his wife was his daughter. Looking at Xylie, he saw his wife from the past, as though he were gazing upon her once again.
