Dragon Raja 5; Chapter 55: Whale Song (24)

Dragon Raja 5

It certainly sounded like singing. Caesar looked around in surprise, fearing he had misheard. The singing and the commotion of the crowd were almost simultaneous. He trembled uncomfortably during the song, clenching his fists tightly to stop the trembling.

He didn’t understand what the song was about, but he could feel the vastness of the song, like the chanting of God heard by mortals far away from the temple.

In the icy and snowy Arctic, who is singing there?

Everyone was watching the screen attentively, and no one except Caesar noticed the strange singing.

“Whale song.” Someone said behind him.

Caesar turned around suddenly and saw EVA looking at him.

“Whale song?”

“The audio frequency of whale communication is below the lower limit of human hearing. They can’t hear it, but you can, because your spirit is ‘Kamaitachi’.”

“But we didn’t observe any whales.”

“Just because you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Perhaps a giant whale swam through the icy sea beneath the expedition team while they were measuring the temperature,” EVA said slowly. “That sound has all the characteristics of whale song, yet it can evoke extreme cold.”

“The words sung by the whale…” Abbas whispered.

The central control room was completely silent. This sounded incredible, but there was no theory that other languages couldn’t be used for words. After all, words were just a series of mysterious syllables, something like a spell.

“So our opponent is a whale?” Caesar broke the silence. “The appearance of a giant whale has made other whales afraid to even enter the Arctic Circle?”

“We can’t say for sure, but there is indeed a creature similar to a giant whale, and the secret party has been paying attention to it for thousands of years. In Hebrew mythology, it is called,” Schneider paused here before saying the terrifying name, “Leviathan!”

“On that day, two beasts will be separated. The female beast will be called Leviathan, and she lives in the depths of the sea, in the water; the male beast will be called Behemoth, and he will live in a wilderness east of the Garden of Eden, which is called Dendasm, a wilderness that cannot be seen.” Caesar recited in a low voice.

This passage comes from the apocryphal Book of Enoch. Written in Hebrew, it looks very similar to the Bible, but is not recognized by the Christian Church because it is too wild and even tells stories like angels betraying God, making peace with humans, and giving birth to horrible monsters.

But the secret party likes to study these kinds of strange documents the most, because they believe that myths are distorted history, and the history in these myths all point to the dragon clan.

According to the Book of Enoch, Leviathan was one of the two monsters created by God on the sixth day of creating the world. It was a chaotic dragon that lurked in the depths of the sea. As for its appearance, some said it looked like a giant snake, some said it looked like a crocodile, and some said it looked like a giant whale.

“So should we go whaling?” Abbas looked at Schneider.

“Yes,” Schneider nodded, “but we need a good boat first.”

“Isn’t the Moniach from the academy good enough?” Abbas asked.

“The technology of the Moniach is advanced enough, but judging from its displacement, it is only a light ship, and it does not have the ability to break ice, so it cannot enter the currently frozen Arctic. We need a your novel ship with a larger tonnage that is more suitable for sailing in the ice sea.” EVA answered on behalf of Schneider.

“Try to buy it, don’t care about the price, we need the most advanced equipment.” Schneider ordered.

“Yes.” EVA’s projection disappeared.

The central control room fell silent, and people exchanged glances.

“Whaling sounds very professional,” Finger said carefully. “It’s not enough to just have a ship. We also need trained people.”

This guy came in to watch the fun, and when he heard that they were going out whaling, he immediately became alert.

He had just been nearly forced to leave school by Caesar and Abbas, and naturally didn’t want to get dragged into more trouble now. Fortunately, the whaling ship had to be purchased immediately, so there would be no impromptu whaling trips. However, he still had to specifically declare that he had no whaling training and was not suitable for this job.

“Of course, we need the best people!” Schneider said, looking at Abbas.

Abbas glanced at Caesar and raised his hand, and Schneider nodded.

Given Abbas’s character, he would certainly not miss such an important action. The reason why he looked at Caesar was not to ask for Caesar’s opinion, but to express his apology because he could not help him.

Schneider turned to Caesar and asked, “Are you interested in going to the Arctic Circle with us?”

Caesar was silent for a moment. “Forget it this time. Under the current circumstances, it would be more useful for me to stay in the academy as the acting director.”

Schneider stared into his eyes and smiled hoarsely. “Stay in the academy? Actually, I’ve been waiting for an emergency notice from the Senate, telling me that Acting Director Caesar Gattuso left the campus without permission to launch an operation and that he needs to be placed on the surveillance list. With your personality and execution ability, I’m surprised you’ve been able to hold on until now.”
