Dragon Raja 5; Chapter 38: Old Friend (7)

Nuonuo handed the mask in his hand to the camera and gave a close-up.

“What happened after you met Odin?”

“Dad and Odin seemed to know each other, but they were not friends but enemies. They were fighting. Dad told me to drive away, so I drove away, but I didn’t drive far before I turned back.”

“You turned back?”

“I was scared… I was afraid something might happen to my dad…” Chu Zihang lowered his head, “I can’t remember what happened afterwards.”

“How long do you think it took from the time you can’t remember to the time you saw me?”

“It seemed like just a moment later, I drove back to find my dad, and the next thing I saw was my sister.”

This guy still firmly called Nuonuo sister and Lu Mingfei brother. After a period of awkwardness, Nuonuo and Lu Mingfei accepted it, but Lu Mingfei still called him senior brother. He was used to it and it was difficult to change it.

Nuonuo then asked many more questions, even including what Chu Zihang was like in class on the day he met Odin. Chu Zihang said that they had an English test that day, and even clearly stated a few of the questions.

Even though the memory of mixed-bloods is far superior to that of ordinary people, it is not the case that they can remember test questions from many years ago. Perhaps for Chu Zihang, that test did take place not long ago.

Lu Mingfei also confirmed that that was indeed the way Shilan Middle School tested English. Chu Zihang said that one of the questions was to introduce your favorite writer in English, and Lu Mingfei immediately smelled David Zhang.

David Zhang, the ace English teacher of Shilan Middle School, is a typical traitor. He gets upset when people call him by his Chinese name. He likes to give irrelevant questions and gives grades based on his mood.

Most students know David Zhang’s habit. He admires Great Britain first, and Great America second. Other countries are not up to par in his eyes. So if you can write about Shelley, don’t write about Cummings; if you can write about Hemingway, don’t write about Dostoevsky.

The only exception was Lu Mingfei, who said his favorite author was ARAKIHIROHIKO, a renowned Japanese manga artist. He described himself as “awesome, powerful, and strong”! His answer was peppered with English words that were transliterated from Japanese, like “kamehameha” and “chakela,” which infuriated David Zhang and resulted in a zero.

(Author’s Note: ARAKIHIROHIKO: Araki Hirohiko, a famous Japanese manga artist, his representative work is “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure”; Kamehameha, Kamehameha, comes from “Dragon Ball”; Chakela, Chakra, comes from “Naruto”)

The entire question-and-answer process took a full hour, and Chu Zihang answered all the questions, although it was obvious that this was not easy for him.

It would not be easy for anyone to close their eyes and then open them again to find that the world has changed completely, with their fifteen-year-old soul in the body of an adult, and to be taken on a run around the world when they wake up.

“You must be tired. If you are, take a nap.” Nuonuo finished the recording and touched Chu Zihang’s head.

Chu Zihang nodded meekly. Nuonuo took out a pillow and blanket from the cabinet next to him and gave them to him. He fell asleep directly on the soft mat.

He trusted Nuonuo very much, probably because the first living person he saw after taking off the mask was Nuonuo, just like a duckling that recognizes the first person it sees as its mother after hatching – although Lu Mingfei was also present at the time, he looked like a crazy demon.

Nuonuo tucked in the corners of the blanket for him and dimmed the lights in the private room. Her gentleness and patience surprised Lu Mingfei. But then again, this girl must have been someone who picked up stray cats and dogs from the street. She had picked up Lu Mingfei, the loser, when she saw him.

Although it is called a private room, the area was actually very limited, a small room of about seven or eight square meters. The floor was covered with a soft mat like a sofa cushion, a low table, a computer, and a cabinet. You could use it to surf the Internet and sleep.

This was a common Internet cafe in Japan. The one that Lu Mingfei and his friends visited back then was different.

Living in an Internet cafe is not a rare thing in Japan. ACG otakus or office workers who miss the last bus home will stay in Internet cafes. The vending machines upstairs can meet all the needs of the customers. You can buy instant noodles and fruits, as well as shirts and stockings. There are also coin-operated showers and laundry rooms. In principle, you can live in an Internet cafe for your whole life without any problems. The key is that they are of good quality and cheap.

Japanese people are very taboo about disturbing others. They check in and out quietly, so it was difficult for them to bump into each other. The privacy was very good, which suits their immediate needs, except that it is a bit crowded when sleeping.

Nuonuo reviewed what she had just recorded, then looked at Chu Zihang again. Making sure he was asleep, she went over to sit next to Lu Mingfei. The private room was too small, so they had to sit next to each other, but that made it easier to whisper.

“He only has memories before the age of fifteen. That night, he drove to escape, but because he was worried about his father’s return, he died on the overpass, so his timeline stopped there.” Nono whispered, “What we found is a ghost wandering on the edge of life and death.”
