Dragon Raja 5; Chapter 346: For Your Majesty (161)

Dragon Raja 5

The surviving children watched him silently, none stepping forward to protect him. He had once been the most powerful individual here, wielding absolute authority; now, Christina was the most powerful. The laws of the dark world had reversed, applying to Bunin himself, and Christina had the right to impose any punishment upon him.

“Alexander Bunin, you are a very good clown, but you cannot attend the final feast. You are too insignificant at that table.” She stroked little Bunin’s face, her claws sweeping towards him from all sides.

Just then, a heavy, powerful heartbeat reverberated throughout the space, originating from the bottom of the deep trench, like a low rumble of thunder.

The children all ran to the pier and looked down. Christina also turned her head to look. Her feelings were probably clearer than Lu Mingfei’s. What Lu Mingfei felt was a small elemental explosion.

It was indeed the sound of a heartbeat, but it triggered a clap of thunder. It was the birth of something that disrupted the surrounding elements.

“Impossible… This is impossible! How could someone who fell from such a height survive?” Finger exclaimed in shock.

Only the children by the pier could see clearly that the white, slimy cocoon was located at the deepest part of the trench, and the child’s blood had disappeared, all absorbed by the cocoon.

Suddenly, a sharp whistle rang out, like the excited cry of a fledgling bird hatching from its egg, yet it sent chills down one’s spine.

“We did it! We did it! Christina! That’s your first child!” Little Bunin shouted with joy.

Before Christina could even go to the pier to check, a white line rose straight up from the deep trough, and a grotesque boy slowly climbed up along the line.

He did not evolve a snake tail and winged claws like Christina, but he gained similar golden compound eyes. He received the cheers of all the children welcoming him like a hero, but he respectfully knelt down beside Christina, like a knight awaiting the queen’s reward.

Lu Mingfei couldn’t believe his eyes. Finger had hinted at the preciousness of the so-called Golden Elixir, but it was so powerful that it defied the laws of bloodline hierarchy. Since the founding of the Secret Society, dragons had been strictly divided into first-generation, second-generation, third-generation, and so on, into classes. Although there had been cases of powerful beings transcending class, even third-generation beings surpassing first-generation beings, bloodline hierarchy always subtly yet strictly restricted the descendants of dragons. Xia Mi and Fenrir were typical examples. Xia Mi was probably the weakest dragon king in history, while Fenrir’s “Shiva’s Dance of Karma” was powerful enough to destroy a city.

Christina created a high-level hybrid with just a drop of her own blood. His birth even caused elemental turbulence. According to the rating standards of Cassel College, this boy’s bloodline class is no less than A-level, comparable to Caesar!

This was simply turning iron into gold. Lu Mingfei was wrong before, thinking that countless test subjects like Christina would be replicated, but in fact, it is not necessary. There is no need to repeat that experiment with an extremely low success rate. One finished product can hatch an army!

“That child didn’t succeed; that drop of blood turned him into a Deadpool. It isn’t a true offspring; it is something like a slave.” Finger sighed.

“Yes, you’re right. He doesn’t need real descendants; he only needs slaves,” Lu Mingfei murmured.

“Look at him! How perfect! He will love you! Live for you! Die for you!” Little Bunin said, picking up the dagger from the ground and stabbing it hard into the boy’s shoulder.

The boy hadn’t evolved scales like Christina’s, and Little Bunin had used all his strength; the thrust went all the way to the hilt of the knife—a fatal blow to an ordinary person. But the boy knelt there quietly, seemingly feeling nothing.

“This is the perfect family, one that will never betray you.” Little Bunin slowly stepped back, his voice trembling with emotion. “Give them grace, my child! Give them brothers and sisters!”

He threw the dagger on the ground, and the children swarmed around Christina, wrestling over it, all in an attempt to cut their own tongues before others so they could kneel before Christina and beg for a bloodletting.

Lu Mingfei stared in disbelief at the scene; it was so absurd, yet so terrifying.

He watched as a completely new power structure was built in this dark space, with Christina as their queen, little Bunin as their mentor, and the children as their willing subjects. It was also a new melting pot, which would need to be filled with countless lives to burn it hot.

Lu Mingze’s words suddenly surfaced in his mind with uncanny clarity. In that empty Italian restaurant, the little devil swirled the red wine in his glass:

“Without seizing power, anyone will feel inferior, like a stag without antlers, having no place in the herd… The allure of power is like the most potent poison in the world; once tasted, it’s impossible to quit… You can call it the devil’s gift, but people will kill for that gift… For you, such power and strength are within your grasp, if you so choose.”

He used to think Lu Mingze was incredibly immature and eccentric. Even if he really was a devil, he was just a devil who had read too many comics, spouting empty boasts and thinking he had seen the truth of the world.

It turns out that all those nonsensical words were true. Humans are such lowly creatures. They write all sorts of justice in textbooks, yet they are all unable to extricate themselves from the face of power. So in the end, they will all sign the devil’s deal and willingly offer up their souls!

More and more heartbeats, like endless war drums, and the children who were thought to be dead opened their golden compound eyes, while the newly blessed children were still writhing in agony.

Christina and her newborn children sprayed wisps of silk into the sky like white fireworks, a celebration of their founding, from which the name of this family would now be etched in the darker side of the world. Lu Mingfei wanted to cover his ears; he didn’t want to hear the shrill cheers, and he certainly didn’t want to witness this so-called miracle.

On this cold winter night, the ambition gained the power they longed for, the queen gained the family she desired, and the children gained the bloodline they carved. But what of the human soul and dignity? They are as empty as joss paper.

For millennia, the Secret Society has held high the banner of courage, risking their lives to fight against the ever-resurrecting ancient dragons, firmly believing that life will eventually perish, but the brilliance of humanity will never be extinguished. But if that power comes so easily, requiring only a tilt of the head to swallow a drop of blood, how many could refuse?

Who hasn’t encountered difficulties in life, experienced the pain of unfulfilled desires, and wanted to smash everything in their way with violence? Even he made a deal with the devil three times.

Never before had he felt such distrust of humanity, as if his spine were broken, too weak to stand. Of course, he couldn’t fall; he could only stand stiffly and helplessly. He couldn’t even cover his ears; he could only close his eyes to avoid looking.

“Senior brother! Senior brother!” Chu Zihang whispered.

Lu Mingfei looked down and saw a pair of dark and determined eyes.
