Dragon Raja 5; Chapter 310: For Your Majesty (125)

Dragon Raja 5

The guests were injured, some slightly, some seriously, and all exhausted. Anna turned on the flashlight hanging under her gun to illuminate the space, but she too was bewildered by its twists and turns.

“Only dogs, no people,” Chu Zihang said in a low voice.

“Yes,” Lu Mingfei nodded.

It was very strange. They only encountered Gru warriors at the beginning, and then the trackers changed to Dragonblood Hounds. In principle, these hounds were controlled by someone, and in such a strong magnetic field, the control distance cannot be very far, but the controller has never appeared from beginning to end.

The rattling sound of the iron chain scraping against the ground became clearer and clearer. Unlike the last time, this time the black snake seemed restless. It must have been affected by the magnetic field. Its brain had shrunk severely, but some brain tissue still remained. Deep within those brain cells, there might still be some memories that would make it uneasy.

The hallucination never left Lu Mingfei; footsteps echoed from all directions, like children chasing each other joyfully, or like men in military boots striding by. For the other guests, they were all transported back to the most glorious and important time of their lives; some wore expressions of unwavering resolve, ready to sacrifice themselves for their country, while others radiated tenderness and sweetness. Only three or five people remained calm and capable of fighting; Anna and Maxim were among the core, likely bolstered by the hard-won serum.

“My dear Maxim, don’t be too surprised by what you see in a moment,” Bunin whispered. “Follow my instructions.”

“It’s an honor to visit your collection, Mr. Bunin. I hope it will be a pleasant surprise.” Maxim loaded the last few bullets into his rifle.

At this moment, Lu Mingfei stepped onto the ground at the lowest level. The black snake roared uneasily in the deep trench, its roars resonating in the air-raid shelter, like countless ancient souls singing in chorus from all directions.

“My God!” Maxim and Anna were both stunned.

At this moment, Su Enxi was tiptoeing around in the underground conference room.

For some reason, Bunin wasn’t very wary of the staff. Perhaps he needed too many and didn’t have time to vet them all. Even someone like Su Enxi, who would be easily found to have flaws if thoroughly investigated, managed to enter the building, though she wasn’t allowed into the final venue. Having worked in Moscow’s financial circles, she spoke fluent Russian and wandered around with her drink, listening to people talk. Because of her beauty, she was even harassed by a customer. The Black Gold Swan, after assessing the situation, decided he wasn’t good enough for her in terms of wealth or looks, so she led him to a corner lounge and subdued him with a stun gun.

When the accident happened, the guests were only concerned with saving themselves and had no time to care about the staff. The bartenders and chefs, who had no fighting ability, were immediately shot on the spot by the GRU soldiers who rushed in. The beautiful and cold girls, who were probably recruited from the spy school, put up a brief resistance, but their weapons were disarmed by the powerful electromagnetic field. They were no match for the GRU soldiers wearing shielding suits and soon fell into pools of blood. Su Enxi didn’t participate. She immediately grabbed some ketchup, squeezed it all over herself, and then found a corner to lie down, acting like a dead person with extreme realism.

In reality, it’s not easy for someone pretending to be dead to survive a massacre, because every massacre involves checking the bodies, or even skipping the check and shooting each corpse in the head. However, Su Enxi had great confidence in Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang’s abilities, knowing these two wouldn’t let the intruders off easily. Sure enough, gunfire and explosions soon followed; the guests had likely engaged the intruders in combat. The GRU soldiers who were about to check the bodies immediately went to provide support.

Su Enxi got up, poured herself a glass of gin, and drank it to calm herself. Escaping wouldn’t be easy; who knew how many GRU warriors were lurking around, and she was, after all, just a clerical worker. Joining Zero wasn’t a good option either; that would be like going straight to the heart of the battlefield. However, she wasn’t worried about Zero’s safety. Even if the girl’s mind wasn’t entirely stable, with two assassins guarding her, she shouldn’t be in too much danger. She herself was also somewhat affected by the magnetic field, constantly recalling her boss. Drinking, she felt like she was back on the top floor of the Regent Hotel, that half-blood-soaked man holding a clear glass, blood dripping from his wrist into it. He was drinking blood-red gin, gazing at the distant waves, looking both quiet and lonely. “How deceptive,” Su Enxi sighed. Her attitude towards her boss differed from both Mai and Zero. She wasn’t a ninja willing to die for her boss, nor was she his devoted follower. She saw her relationship with her boss as a partnership; simply put, she was there to work. Their relationship was one of mutual need, and once the contract was fulfilled, she would immediately pack her bags and go solo. However, she had been involved in her boss’s affairs for too long, and the thought of going solo and being all alone made her a little reluctant. This world is so lonely; sometimes you’d rather be a group of adventurous scoundrels with people you respect than be lonely and safe.

She suddenly remembered Auchinez. The injured Auchinez had a leech sucking from his neck and had been sent to the underground auction house. Everyone had forgotten about him during the evacuation, so now was the perfect time to collect the leech and see what the serum inside was made of. As far as she could recall, apart from the Nibelungen Project at Cassel College, no other organization had mastered the technology to purify serum. In the Dark Ages, dragon blood was used directly, and recipients usually couldn’t withstand the toxicity and either exploded on the spot or turned into monsters. Only a very few lucky ones could survive and become hybrids.

Su Enxi felt she needed to learn more about the secrets behind this auction.

The incident happened so suddenly that there was no time to close the passageway. GRU soldiers also entered the underground conference room. The situation was similar to that outside. The entourage stationed there was killed after a brief resistance. The bullet entered from the base of the neck, and blood splattered everywhere.

Su Enxi looked around but found nothing of note. The conference room was exactly as it had been years ago, even the documents on the bookshelves were from back then—the grand plan to build the world’s first nuclear fusion plant in Siberia. Next to the conference room were several small offices, one of which contained a telephone. Bunin had likely used this phone to contact the seller behind the scenes. There were no underground laboratories processing the serum, meaning it was unlikely to be produced in City 023, yet Black Serpent was here. It was also possible that Bunin was simply extracting Black Serpent’s blood to supply the seller, who was responsible for purification—essentially providing technical support.

It was a frustrating exploration, especially when she pushed open the last door and saw Auchinez.
