Dragon Raja 5

Lu Mingfei killed his way through, cursing under his breath. Even with Chu Zihang joining forces, it wasn’t as satisfying as when he instantly killed the three hounds at the beginning. These creatures had clearly undergone rigorous training, displaying excellent balance in offense and defense, and working in perfect harmony, even when fatally wounded. Chu Zihang, on the other hand, had to control the power of the Flame; if it were to erupt in this confined space, no one but Lu Mingfei would likely survive.

Just then, his phone rang. There was no cell phone signal in city 023, so he knew without a doubt who was calling him.

He stomped on the head of a vicious dog, knocking it over, and stepped back a few paces to let Chu Zihang hold it off. As he pulled out his phone, he wiped the blood from his forehead. “Spit it out!”

“Are you going to keep fighting with a bunch of dogs like this?” Finger’s voice sounded anxious. “Forget about these people, take your senior brother and get out of here! This hunting strategy is typical of the academy!”

“What?” Lu Mingfei was taken aback.

“The academy has some extreme tactics that it won’t easily teach its students. For example, when dealing with extremely dangerous targets, they release trained dragon-blooded subspecies, among which the easiest to tame are dogs that have been corrupted by dragon blood. Look around, aren’t they wearing collars with high-voltage static electricity?”

Lu Mingfei shuddered. These dragonblood hounds were indeed all wearing heavy metal collars, and although the designs differed, they couldn’t help but remind one of the monsters on the human-snake ship. Using monsters to hunt other monsters—that seemed like something an academy would do.

Could it be that the GRU special forces have become the academy’s private army? Then their real target isn’t the goods, but these few individuals. Since the Dragonblood Hounds joined the battle, no more GRU warriors have appeared, but the person commanding those hounds must be hiding nearby. Time is of the essence; a swift victory is necessary. Lu Mingfei grabbed Anna, who was firing from the uneven ground, and forcefully threw her behind him, simultaneously pulling another smoke grenade from her waist.

“Withdraw! Withdraw! Withdraw!” Lu Mingfei roared.

Apart from Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang, everyone else helped the injured man back. The Russians also understood the culture of the strong; having witnessed the fight between Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang, these guys knew who to listen to.

Chu Zihang went a step further, swinging his twin blades into two bright rings of fire. In an instant, it was as if he was holding two suns and about to shove them into the rear ends of the fierce dogs, with scorching air currents shooting in all directions.

Lu Mingfei seized the opportunity, grabbed a fierce dog by the neck with his upper arm, stuffed a smoke bomb into its mouth, stabbed it directly into its stomach with the hilt of his knife, and then kicked it back into the pack of dogs.

“Give me a Kamehameha!” Lu Mingfei shouted.

Chu Zihang took a step back, sheathed his twin swords, and conjured a wall of fire with his bare hands! The sound of his chanting echoed throughout the corridor, and the pack of dogs was pushed to the end of the corridor by the shockwave.

At that moment, the ferocious dog spewed out an astonishing cloud of smoke. Completely stunned, the dog frantically shook its head, only making it look more like a monster about to breathe fire. The smoke cloud enveloped the entire pack of dogs, and Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang took off running. The dogs barked wildly but didn’t immediately give chase.

The smoke bomb was made of yellow phosphorus, tin tetrachloride, or silicon tetrachloride. Regardless of the type, it will react violently with the air to form a dense acid mist. Even the sense of smell enhanced by dragon blood will be ineffective in the acid mist. More importantly, out of instinct, the fierce dog that eats the smoke bomb will stay with the pack, and the pack will never be able to get rid of the smoke.

As for the controller hiding in the shadows, his commands would also be interrupted due to obstructed vision. Although it would only last for a few seconds, it would be enough for them to retreat.

When they reached the fork in the road, Chu Zihang raised his hand and unleashed a pillar of flame that blasted the top of the passageway. Large sections of precast concrete slabs collapsed, which should hold off the pack of dogs for a while, but they could still find a way around, though it would take a little longer.

“Take us to that helicopter!” Lu Mingfei grabbed Bunin by the collar.

“Damn it! I told you the helicopter can’t fit everyone!” Bunin growled. “I also told you none of these people are innocent! We all brought this on ourselves!”

“I can’t say what’s wrong with the old lady who wants to buy medicine for her son and the middle-aged woman who wants to buy medicine for her husband.” Lu Mingfei looked at Christina in Bunin’s arms. “You old bastard who wants to buy medicine for your daughter, I can’t look down on you either.”

Bunin paused for a moment, and before he could answer, the barking of a pack of dogs came from not far away.

“We’ve been locked down,” Chu Zihang said. “They have some special way of tracking us.”

This deduction was not difficult to make. The roads here were as complex as a spider web, but they kept encountering GRU troops along the way, and even heavy artillery positions that had been set up. It was not that the GRU troops had obtained the map and that their numbers were insufficient to block the intersection of every passage, but rather that the GRU troops had some way of knowing their exact location.

If it weren’t for Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang, those two killers, suddenly jumping out, the other side would have easily wiped out the entire group and set off with the goods.

“To the air-raid shelter!” Bunin said. “To Black Dragon’s place!”

Lu Mingfei immediately thought of the dense array of automatic weapons; apart from the black dragon, no creature could survive that torrent of metal.

Lu Mingfei walked down the cold, damp passageway again, descending the stairs floor by floor, as if it were endless, like some kind of cycle.

The barking of the dragonblood hounds echoed repeatedly in the passageway, sounding sometimes near and sometimes far. They had come down, determined to reach hell.
