Dragon Raja 5; Chapter 288: For Your Majesty (103)

Dragon Raja 5

This handsome young man traveled a long distance by train to city 023, indulging in drinking and revelry along the way, dancing with girls—he didn’t seem like someone who had come to commit suicide. But after a night of drinking, he stepped into the bathtub, slit his wrist artery, listened to old songs, and waited alone for death to come.

He left quite calmly, and the strong liquor had not clouded his judgment. His coat and boots were neatly stored in the closet, and his bedroom was as tidy as a soldier’s dormitory.

“Where are his things?” Bunin asked.

The guard pointed to a small table by the window, on which sat a thick folder, presumably prepared by Vishnyak before his death, with his family crest ring pressed on top of it. Bunin opened the folder and flipped through it quickly and roughly, as if he wanted to tear the documents to shreds. Lu Mingfei couldn’t understand some of the documents, while others were bilingual in Russian and English. Among them were family trust documents, and one was even a contract for a cemetery in Moscow.

This young man, with family heritage and unlimited potential, actually bought a burial plot for himself before he even arrived. In contrast, although Lu Mingfei also felt that he would die in Siberia, he was completely unprepared and even had a scandal with the intelligence officer on the way. He really showed no respect for death.

Bunin finally found a white envelope containing only a thin sheet of paper, presumably a suicide note or something similar. He read those few lines over and over again for a long time.

As he read, the anxious expression on his face faded, and even a fleeting look of desolation appeared, but it vanished in an instant, and Lu Mingfei was unsure.

He put the letter in his pocket. “Clean it up, freeze the body in the freezer. Lock down this apartment, no one is allowed to come in.”

But no sooner had he finished speaking than the door was forced open, and Okinez and his friends held the guards at gunpoint. The guards also pulled out concealed weapons, but none of them dared to shoot these distinguished guests.

Following her in was Sonia, a beautiful red-haired girl wearing only a nightgown and reeking of alcohol, suggesting she had just been woken from a dream. She possessed a dazzling beauty, but not the vibrant, youthful kind; rather, it was weathered and haggard, like a faded beauty in an ancient painting.

The moment Sonia saw Vishniak, she was completely stunned. No one could read her eyes, but everyone could hear the sound of a heart suddenly breaking.

Lu Mingfei was also puzzled. These two had only flirted with each other the whole way, but everyone in the group was flirting with each other. Could it be that they had developed feelings for each other while flirting? Don’t you Russians fall in love a little too quickly?

Before he could finish his internal monologue, Sonia lifted her leg, revealing a holster strapped to her nightgown. She drew her gun, aimed it at Bunin, and fired. No one had anticipated this turn of events. Two guards lunged forward, one to tackle Sonia, the other to shield Bunin from the bullet, but it was too late.
Sonia pulled the trigger, but the bullet didn’t leave the barrel because Lu Mingfei stepped forward, reached out and pressed on the bolt, forcefully removing it from the barrel. He wrapped his arms around Sonia, but the girl struggled like an enraged lioness, roaring shrilly in Russian, as if she wanted to pounce on Bunin and devour him.

Okinez and his men, their eyes blazing with fury, all pointed their guns at Bunin. The guards simultaneously cocked their weapons, pointing them at Okinez and his group. The atmosphere in the apartment was completely frozen, yet it felt like it was about to explode.

Bunin stared coldly at Sonia, devoid of pity, even displaying mockery. Lu Mingfei thought to himself, “You’re still using mockery at a time like this? Aren’t you incredibly audacious?”

Bunin said something to Sonia in Russian, just a short sentence, and Sonia and Okinez were all stunned. Lu Mingfei clearly felt the lioness in his arms become weak and powerless. The violent power from before suddenly receded from Sonia’s body, and if it weren’t for Lu Mingfei, she would have almost collapsed to the ground.

Auchinez and the others lowered their guns, turning their heads away in grief and helplessness, refusing to look at the horrific scene. Lu Mingfei tried to release Sonia, and the girl indeed did not attack Bunin again. She stood alone in the center of the crowd, her frail shoulders trembling slightly, looking extremely weak.
Just as Lu Mingfei thought she was about to turn around and burst into tears on his shoulder, Sonia pushed him away forcefully, her “don’t touch me” tone making it seem as if Lu Mingfei had just taken liberties with her. Yet, throughout the journey, she flaunted her charms no less than Christina, engaging in intimate physical contact with everyone.

She stumbled forward, brushing past Bunin, stepped into the bathtub, and picked up the pale Vishniak. She sat in the blood-soaked water, combing his hair, like a mother and a wife at the same time.

“This apartment is sealed off. No one is allowed to enter except Sonia. Once she’s alright, clean the room thoroughly and freeze body in the freezer.” Bunin revised his previous orders and left.

The VIPs and guards also left without saying a word. Two guards remained at the door to keep watch, while the others dispersed in silence.

Lu Mingfei turned back before the door closed. The old song echoed in the rising steam. Vishniak leaned against Sonia’s arm, looking peaceful, as if he were asleep or at least relieved.

Zero actually came too, but she didn’t go inside. Instead, she leaned against the wall in the corridor. She glanced at Lu Mingfei and left as if nothing had happened.

Bunin stood by the window near the stairs, smoking his pipe. Lu Mingfei knew Bunin was waiting for him, so he went over to him.

“Don’t tell Christina these things,” Bunin said, looking out at the snow falling. “Just tell her that one of our children committed suicide.”

Lu Mingfei nodded. “Mr. Bunin, wouldn’t you like to explain a few more things to me about this?”

“I’m sorry, I have no comment,” Bunin said curtly.

He went down one floor, and at another window, Zero stood watching the snow. Undoubtedly, Zero was also waiting for him; everyone had something to say to him.

“Sonia said, ‘You killed Vishnyak, you’re the executioner.’ Bunin said, ‘None of us are philanthropists, the compassionate ones among us are all dead.’” Zero imitated both of their accents perfectly.

She knew what Lu Mingfei cared about most. The two sentences that Sonia and Bunin exchanged were spoken in Russian, which Lu Mingfei couldn’t understand.
