Dragon Raja 5

Countless snake corpses were scattered around, and snake tails were dragged out from the main building. The battle should have ended for some time, and everything was frozen, but it was so clear, just as if it had just ended.

Caesar and Jiude Mai looked at each other, their eyes filled with shock.

The two men leaned forward, climbed over the aluminum frame and entered the main building. This incredible structure was made of some kind of polyester fiber composite material, which was very light and very strong, making such large-scale construction on the ice sheet possible.

Finger followed behind, holding a burning stick, striding in a steady pace, like a leader inspecting the work at the grassroots level. The giant snake had already frozen into a block of ice, so there was nothing to fear from him.

And this was exactly why Jiude Mai and Caesar was becoming more cautious.

They had all fought against giant snakes and understood the strength of these opponents. With their abilities, encountering these giant snakes would be a life-and-death battle. Who on earth could slaughter giant snakes on such a large scale?

The harpoon stuck in the statue of the great man even suggests that the man just used the tools at hand. It is not surprising that a scientific research station located in the Arctic Ocean has several harpoons.

But they did not stop Finger from lighting the combustion stick. First of all, with the opponent’s ability, if they were still hiding in this research station, it would be useless for them to remain silent. Secondly, they really needed lighting.

The ground was covered with traces of snakes, and there were bullet holes on the walls. Just as Jiude Mai said, the expedition team had a gunfight with a group of snakes here.

There was no corpse to be seen, but this was not difficult to understand. Even if there was a corpse, it would only be buried in the belly of the big snake.

Caesar pulled out his dactyl, dug a bullet out of the wall, looked at it carefully in the light, and put it in his pocket.

Jude Mai patrolled the walls, trying to find more clues. From the scene, it was clear: the expedition had arrived at the station exhausted and panicked, having briefly camped there, perhaps for dozens of hours. When the station was sealed, relief supplies were packed up and left behind, along with a small diesel generator and ample diesel fuel, as a token of the Soviet Union’s generous support for Arctic explorers worldwide. These devices had already been unpacked. They had even rested briefly on some of the beds, the dishevelled sheets revealing this. Someone had prayed, the discarded prayer book indicating a large congregation, and the extinguished candles suggesting a prayer attended by many, likely both devout and fearful.

The long-wave communication equipment has not been found yet, but the device was quite large and it should not be possible to escape with it.

Soon, the snakes caught up. Though they could swim under the ice like fish, the thick, solid ice shelf beneath the station was impenetrable, forcing them to scale the surface from a great distance and converge. The expedition must have left observers, giving them advance notice of the snakes’ arrival and time to deploy fortifications. Among them were professional soldiers, or former professional soldiers, whose fortifications were expertly constructed. With the weapons they carried, even a company of soldiers wouldn’t have been able to quickly capture the fortified station. However, the snakes’ attack methods were completely different from those of an army; their fortifications were indistinguishable from paper.

They fell into great panic, and someone in the expedition team contacted Jude Mai via a long-wave transmitter, claiming that he had closed Valhalla.

But unexpectedly, reinforcements arrived and helped them repel the snakes’ attack. The snakes retreated, leaving behind a field of corpses. The group fled all the way south until they were killed by Leviathan in Franz Josef Land.

If this were an adventure story, it would be thrilling and full of ups and downs, but it is too thrilling and exciting.

Caesar took out the bullet from his pocket and threw it to Jiude Mai. It was an ugly little lead-gray metal ball, completely different from ordinary bullets.

“Large-caliber bullets with depleted uranium warheads. I understand your scientists carrying weapons, but specifically carrying the most powerful armor-piercing bullets seems overly prepared.”

Jiude Mai frowned and played with the bullet.

Depleted uranium warheads contain uranium-238, a waste nuclear fuel source. While their trace radiation isn’t enough to quickly inflict a fatal blow, they possess significant armor-piercing capabilities. US A-10 attack aircraft equipped with depleted uranium armor-piercing rounds have destroyed over a thousand tanks. These rounds are also highly effective against the tough scales of giant snakes. If they had such ammunition when attacked by a swarm of snakes, Jude Mai and Finger wouldn’t have to laboriously blast them apart with white phosphorus grenades.

The preparation of depleted uranium bullets showed that the expedition team realized that they would face some targets with thick armor. There were naturally no tanks in the Arctic Circle, so Caesar said that they were too well prepared.

“If Nono were here…” Caesar said subconsciously.

“I know your fiancée’s profiling skills are excellent,” Jude Mai interrupted directly, “but I also have my own way. I can make the dead speak.”

“Let the dead speak?” Neither Caesar nor Finger understood.

The diesel generator set started to run at a clattering speed, the entire scientific research station was lit up, and slightly warm air blew out of the air duct.

The Soviet Academy of Sciences must have designed the structure with the ambitious goal of having this landmark building stand near the North Pole for a hundred years. Although it has been sealed for decades, once the diesel engine is started, it returns to normal operation.

The electric insulation panels were lowered, closing the dilapidated doors and windows. This design must have been made to cope with extreme climates. Even if there was a force 12 gale and the temperature outside was minus 100 degrees, this scientific research station would still be a solid fortress for mankind in the extreme cold hell.

The three men dragged all the snakes with fat bellies into the hall. The largest ones weighed no less than ten tons. Fortunately, they found a crawler forklift in the warehouse.

“Ralph, the captain of that expedition team, was not among those people who froze to death. He was the one who spoke to me using the long-wave transmitter. He was a good leader, and there was only one thing that could make him abandon his team…” said Jude Mai.

“Dead,” said Caesar.

“That’s right. So I guess he’s in the stomach of a snake. If the snakes are killed quickly by the reinforcements that arrive, then Ralph won’t have time to be digested. I have to dig him out.”

“What’s the point of digging it out? Is that guy your boyfriend? You want to dig him out and hold a funeral for him?” said Finger.

Although he was muttering, he was wiping the fire axe he found from somewhere, with a ferocious look on his face like a perverted demon.
