Dragon Raja 5; Chapter 224: For Your Majesty (39)

“A famous Russian arms dealer, nicknamed the Merchant of Death, is now detained in New York.” Zero continued to provide additional explanation.

“Who knows who has hidden strange things in their house.” Lu Mingfei glanced at Zero, “Anyway, I don’t know anybody called Bute.”

At this point, Zero also feels very suspicious. His former classmate suddenly turned into a princess of the Romanov family, bringing with her overwhelming power to accompany him on an escape journey with no end in sight. No matter how he thinks about it, she must be hiding something.

But Lu Mingfei was too lazy to think about it or doubt her.

“If we can’t escape from here, you may never see your exploration team again, even if they bring back good news.” Zero forced a change of subject.

“If you don’t blow up my tank tracks, I have plenty of ways to escape!” Bunin roared angrily.

The gunfire outside subsided, replaced by the blare of sirens. The nearby police must have been alerted, as countless police cars converged on the Elizabeth Palace. But they clearly couldn’t interfere with the GRU’s operations. The Elizabeth Palace grounds were now a battlefield, and where could the police have a say? The GRU hadn’t abandoned the attack. The smoke from the T-64 hadn’t even cleared, and they hadn’t realized the driver had already fled into the Elizabeth Palace. They were probably mobilizing anti-tank missiles; one or two more rounds would completely disable the T-64. So, Bunin wasn’t foolish enough to cling to that ironclad structure.

The smoke will eventually clear, and anti-tank missiles will eventually arrive. They don’t have much time left.

“Deal,” Zero stared into Bunin’s eyes, “If I can get you out of here, you’ll help us get into the restricted area!”

Bunin looked at the exquisite yet cold little face in surprise. You should listen carefully and think carefully about every word the owner of this face says.

But how? Those butlers and maids who were once mercenaries had already surrendered. When the fifteen minutes were up, they nodded to Zero at the same time, put down their weapons and raised their hands.

They followed the rules of the mercenary trade. Their contracts stipulated they were to be butlers and waitresses, so they would obediently pour drinks and drive. In the event of an emergency, they would remain for fifteen minutes, and even at the risk of their lives, they would do so. Not a second longer. Their opponents weren’t barbarians who loved to chop off people, but the honorable GRU special forces. Especially in downtown Moscow, they were expected to abide by the Geneva Convention and not harm anyone who had surrendered their arms.

Lu Mingfei’s heart trembled slightly, remembering that rainy night in Japan when Zero came to Takama-ga-hara to find them, her knees nearly broken, and the trail was covered in blood. This girl truly possessed astonishing combat talent, capable of single-handedly taking down the entire Kanto branch. Chu Zihang wouldn’t have been able to do that without Jun Yan’s help. Her true strength might not be that great, but she must have the kind of tactical ability to disregard herself, able to endure pain that others couldn’t, using herself like a machine.

“No, no, no!” Lu Mingfei said quickly, “Don’t take any risks! We’ll find another way!”

Zero raised his palm to silence him, still looking directly into Bunin’s eyes. “Mr. Alexander Bunin, you are a businessman. There is no such thing as a business without cost in this world. The cost of gold mining is human life. I know very well that you can’t easily open a passage for us into the restricted area. That is your big business. But look at the predicament we are in. Your high-level connections have failed, and my mercenaries have given up resistance. We are surrounded by at least two platoons of GRU special forces, plus police helping to maintain order. You can’t even bribe them. They come from different departments, and their eyes are on each other. The only person who can ensure your safe departure is me, and I will pay a huge price. I will use this price in exchange for a ticket to enter the restricted area!”

Zero reached out to Bunin. It was as if she were truly the last princess of the Romanov family. This was a trench about to be engulfed in artillery fire, and she had decided to lead the Imperial Guards in a final charge. She held out her hand to you, questioning your loyalty, demanding you promise to fulfill her final wish. You couldn’t refuse her, all you could do was lower your head and kiss that hand.

“Deal!” Bunin actually did it, although his wrinkled robe somewhat affected the sense of ceremony. “But I still look forward to your triumphant return!”

    ***

Five minutes later, they were walking down a long underground passage, dug so wide that anyone using it could take their time, even stroll leisurely.

“Your Highness, having an escape route underground at home isn’t a huge price to pay, is it?” Bunin sighed.

Lu Mingfei thought that after the high-five, Zero would use some mysterious high-level connections or heavy weapons. He was worried that this girl would take out a knife and go straight to the commander of the GRU special forces, just like the opening of “Assassin’s Creed” III.

As a result, Zero took them to his basement, opened the door of the escape passage and said please, and before closing the door, she did not forget to take two bottles of iced mineral water from the refrigerator.

“Originally, there was no escape route in Elizabeth Palace. A lot of money was spent on its construction.” Zero said expressionlessly.

At the end of the escape passage was an iron gate. When they opened it, they found themselves on a railway. It was unknown which subway line in Moscow it was. The four of them walked in the tunnel, one foot deep and one foot shallow. Bunin took out one cell phone after another from his backpack, and cursed while dialing.

    ***

Four hours later, the four of them were dressed neatly and boarded a luxury carriage.

Alexander Bunin donned a sable coat over his suit and a sable hat, looking like a fur trader from Northeast China. Passing through the station, he presented a diplomatic passport, not in his own name, but bearing his photograph. The ticket inspector didn’t give him a hard time or inspect the dozens of suitcases he was carrying, though this was likely due to the thick stack of high-denomination rubles he had tucked into his passport. He brazenly claimed that Zero was his granddaughter and that Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang were hired henchmen from China.
