Dragon Raja 5

Lu Mingfei comforted him and said that it shouldn’t be the case. The proprietress looked like the kind of person who would sell her own father for money. If she was really Humpback Whale’s daughter, Humpback Whale should have been sold to Somalia and sailed with pirates.

This was pure nonsense. Even if the humpback whale doesn’t understand, how could he understand?

The proprietress had clearly come with a purpose, perhaps for the Sheqi Eight Clan, or perhaps for Herzog. With this matter over and her purpose fulfilled, she left. As for this shop, it meant nothing to her, and selling it again would be troublesome, so it would be better to leave it to the humpback whale.

I don’t know when I started to feel nostalgic, but I hope everyone I know is still alive and well. Even if we all had our own agendas when we met, and even if we’ll never see each other again, even if we’re miles apart.

“I’m going to the bathroom. Don’t talk to anyone until I come back. Just smile politely.” Zero turned and left.

Walking to a corner where she could avoid everyone’s sight, she suddenly turned around and leaned against the wall, pulling out an earphone from her coat pocket. The little thing was buzzing and vibrating, like a phone waiting to be answered.

It was a Bluetooth walkie-talkie that can connect directly without the help of any server, avoiding being tracked by EVA.

Zero put it in his ear, “What is it?”

“Damn it, I was careless just now. When I passed by you, that guy turned his head and kept looking at me. I wonder if he recognized me.”

“It’s okay, he just said that your back looks like a Tokyo madam he knows.”

There was silence on the other end of the intercom for a moment, then a vicious tone took over, “I took such good care of him back in Takama-ga-hara! I should have found him fifty fat women and made him drink with them until he died!”

When Zero returned to the hall, Lu Mingfei was chatting happily with someone.

Zero frowned slightly. When she left, she had warned Lu Mingfei not to chat up anyone, fearing he’d give himself away, but he’d forgotten the whole thing. It would have been fine if he’d just been chatting up the beautiful Belarusian women passing by—many movie stars and models had been invited to the sale—but he’d been chatting up an elderly man, and the two of them chatted away, waving cigars.

Zero approached and was about to speak when Lu Mingfei raised his eyes slightly and gave her a slightly cold look. Zero subconsciously shut up and pretended to be a reliable secretary.

“Brother Lin is also doing business in Russia?” Lu Mingfei smiled. “Did you get Mr. Bunin’s invitation to the dinner party?”

Zero understood immediately. This Chinese businessman, Lin, had the same goal as them: to meet Alexander Bunin. Or rather, everyone who came to buy things today held the extravagant hope of receiving an invitation from Mr. Bunin. There were many people like her who spent lavishly, and young women also dressed themselves up to the nines. Earning Mr. Bunin’s friendship would grant you a foothold in Russia’s most prestigious circles.

“Of course, business relies on connections. If Mr. Bunin’s invitations were sold publicly, someone would buy them for $10 million,” Mr. Lin lamented. “But the number of people who have even seen them, let alone received them, is very small. Honestly, I’ve been attending this charity sale for almost ten years and haven’t received an invitation once.”

“I’m new here and want to make a fortune, but I don’t have any connections. What should I do?” Lu Mingfei pretended to be generous and spoke with a northeastern accent. Ling felt that it would be perfect if he could just put a mink coat on him when he went out.

“You still have to rely on connections. To do business in Moscow, you need local friends. When I first arrived, I always brought a case of Moutai with me every time I ate.” Mr. Lin patted Lu Mingfei’s shoulder, feeling quite moved by meeting an old friend in a foreign land. “Are you here to ask for an invitation from the Bunin family too?”

“Mr. Bunin is not easy to get to know, but some say that getting that invitation will open up the business world in Moscow.” Lu Mingfei said calmly, “Do you have any connections, brother?”

“Brother, what kind of business do you do in China?” Mr. Lin probed.

“The boss’s business in China is mainly in real estate and cultural industries,” Zero said with a smile.

“Young lady, you speak fluent Chinese!” Mr. Lin gave a thumbs-up. “You’re lucky, little brother! But getting an invitation from Mr. Bunin isn’t that easy. The real estate and cultural industries are both booming, so why did you come to Moscow to develop your career?”

“The world.” Lu Mingfei said slowly.

“The world?” Mr. Lin was slightly surprised.

“Old Lin, what is your purpose in doing business?” Lu Mingfei smiled.

“To make money to support the family.” Mr. Lin shrugged.

“It’s not enough for me,” Lu Mingfei said slowly. “In all the years I’ve been working in real estate, I’ve always wondered if I could build houses on every inch of land I could buy. Would that satisfy me?”

“You will be very rich then.” Mr. Lin looked a little confused.

“No, being rich is a false proposition, because one day you’ll have more money than you can spend. Lao Lin, why do you want to do business? Isn’t it to change this terrible world? You can solve problems that many people have to complain about online with just one phone call. You can influence the world just by sitting in a very narrow space. For example, tell your stock manager that you don’t like the design of the latest version of the iPhone and ask him to sell all your Apple shares for you.” Lu Mingfei smiled. “We are loyal to our own judgment, but we can influence the whole world.”

Zero was slightly surprised. The boy seemed to have just woken up from a dream, but he quickly regained his identity.

This was a boy with a lion in his heart, a boy who can fail but will not give in. He lives for a lofty ideal, even though that ideal may mean death.

She had always underestimated Lu Mingfei. She thought he was a child she could command at will, a child who was confused and had just woken up from a dream. However, at this moment, Lu Mingfei was skillfully exploring Mr. Lin’s words, perfectly playing the role of a wealthy man from China, looking at the world and maneuvering.

Lu Mingfei looked around. “In three hours, we’ve become famous?”

Mr. Lin glanced at his watch. “Two hours and fifty-nine minutes. Good luck, brother. I hope to hear your name again in the Moscow business world in the future.”

Mr. Lin walked away. Lu Mingfei glanced at the waiter holding a tray behind him, grabbed the Easter eggs from the tray and threw them to Chu Zihang, “I don’t want the others.”
