Dragon Raja 5

It looked really old. Ice spikes had left deep marks on the metal wellhead. The crew members were clearing the snow in the well and had brought out several rusty metal products, some of which were tools and some of which were the casings of some old-fashioned bombs.

A white figure lay sprawled near the wellhead, like the victims previously discovered, already dead. He was wearing the uniform of the expedition team. Not far away lay an overturned snowmobile. One of the deceased’s legs was severed at the knee. This had happened to the previous victims, as if their feet had been frozen to the ice, and a struggle had broken them off.

This was really an incredible thing. It seems that someone in the scientific expedition team successfully escaped on a snowmobile. He may have wanted to enter this well to avoid the cold, but he was still one step away.

Schneider glanced at Caesar. This possibility wasn’t completely impossible. They knew those people had died from a super-cold spell triggered by a Word Spirit. Word Spirits always have their own effective range, known as their “domain.” The Dragon King’s domain couldn’t possibly cover the entire Faras Josef Land archipelago. If this man had been some distance away from the others, had seen his companions die from afar, hopped on his motorcycle, and fled, he might have had a chance to avoid the Word Spirit’s attack. But he was severely injured. Although the Word Spirit’s domain was limited, the ultra-cold air within it and the surrounding atmospheric convection still caused the temperature in the surrounding area to drop by more than ten degrees. Coupled with the regional ice storm caused by the convection, he couldn’t escape.

Schneider handed Rebalco a tool he had retrieved from the well. Rebalco took a look at it and his eyes widened.

The handle of that tool was engraved with the swastika emblem of Nazi Germany!

No wonder this well is not marked on maps, as it was built by Nazi Germany before 1945.

There has always been a legend that before the demise of Nazi Germany, the Führer established secret underground bases in Antarctica and the Arctic. Those bases were guarded by the most loyal SS troops and contained the most advanced laboratories at the time, developing super weapons more advanced than the V2 missile in an attempt to restore the Third Reich in the future.

Some UFO enthusiasts even claim that UFOs are aircraft developed by Nazi remnants, silently flying through today’s skies to gather intelligence. The bases of the past have evolved into vast underground states and military factories, and the SS, armed with laser cannons, could return at any time.

Could it be that they had accidentally found the entrance to the Nazi base? This unexpected turn of events was like a scene in a fantasy movie where orcs and humans were sieging a city and suddenly an aircraft carrier appeared in the sky.

“This facility hasn’t been used for many years.” Rebalco calmed himself down and cleared his mind of those random thoughts.

The truth is that this survivor happened to know about this well and came here just to escape the ice storm, and the well was probably just filled with garbage. Establishing a small base in the Arctic Circle was not difficult given the technology of Nazi Germany at the time.

Then this discovery is of no value, and all they can do is take a photo with this unexpected discovery.

Schneider waved his hand and took Rebalco to the well. When he looked down, Rebalco found that the dead man was holding a rope tightly in his hand, and the other end of the rope was deep under the snow.

He didn’t struggle to the edge of the well and couldn’t climb in. Instead, he first lowered something into the well with a rope. That thing was obviously more important than his life. He died after doing all this. For a man with a broken leg to be able to do this, one cannot help but admire his willpower.

Rebalco gave the deceased a sailor’s salute, a traditional nautical gesture of respect for the deceased.

At this time, the crew in the well used ice picks to break the ice shell under the snow, and white steam rose from the bottomless darkness.

Caesar, flashlight in hand, led the way, while Rebalco and Abbas followed him, forming a stable triangle. Behind them, the fully armed crew surrounded Schneider. As the head of the executive department, Schneider wasn’t as frail as he appeared, but no one had ever witnessed his combat prowess. He might truly be a brilliant general.

They all took off their winter clothing because the well was incredibly warm. It was hard to understand; the well was located in the permafrost, offering some protection from the cold, but it wasn’t exactly spring-like warmth. The littered area suggested the well had been abandoned long ago. Could the heating system left behind by the Germans still be functioning, or was there a geothermal source like a volcano nearby?

“The nuclear radiation level is exceeding the limit.” Abbas glanced at the Geiger counter in his hand. “This might be a nuclear facility, or it might store radioactive materials. However, the level is not high enough to be dangerous.”

“Nazi Germany’s nuclear facilities?” Caesar exclaimed softly, gazing at the crisscrossing network of pipelines overhead. “Even if it weren’t compared to Leviathan, this would still be a world-shaking discovery.”

“It could be the Oklo nuclear reactor,” Schneider said. “It’s been running on its own for decades, and that’s why it maintains such a warm space in the Arctic Circle.”

Caesar and Abbas looked at each other and immediately understood what Schneider meant.
