Dragon Raja 5; Chapter 154: Thunder and the Watcher (64)

Dragon Raja 5

It was an ancient king, a Dragon King, Isabel wasn’t sure, but he possessed a majesty no less than that of a Dragon King. The eight-legged steed was his throne. He sat upright on his throne, gazing silently at the sky.

The bullet, stained with the blood of the Dragon King, was right behind him, spinning at high speed, unable to advance any further. A golden flame erupted from behind Odin, forming a transparent wall that blocked the bullet. It couldn’t reach Odin, so the crucial attribute of “ignoring defense” was completely ineffective.

Although the arrow of the god of death is sharp, its target is the god of death himself.

“People nearby, please take shelter immediately! People nearby, please take shelter immediately!” EVA’s voice was still echoing in the cabin.

Isabel certainly wanted to evacuate, but they had no chance. While observing the vortex outside, they ignored the vortex overhead. A vortex, carrying dark clouds, descended from the sky and captured the helicopter. The wind speed in the eye of the storm was relatively low, but if they strayed from the eye, they would immediately crash due to the violent force.

There was an eternity of silence. Odin stared at the sky, and the others stared at him. Then, in the exact spot Odin was looking at, a golden firework exploded. Streams of golden light fell, like golden meteors. The vast surrounding sea was blanketed in this dense shower of stars. As the stars pierced through the immortals, Isabelle could see clearly that each golden beam was a spear, like a twisted branch. It suddenly occurred to her that this Odin had only one crucial element missing from his arrival: Gungnir, the spear carved from a branch of the World Tree. Legend has it that this spear, representing fate, had already struck before it was hurled.

Odin had already hurled his spear into the air, like Victoria’s bullet. The verdict had been passed, and now it was time for the execution, and all of them were on the execution list.

Isabel suddenly turned around, grabbed Lancelot, the one who didn’t care about death the most, and kicked him off the helicopter.

Isabel held onto the hatch, watching Lancelot falling into the sea. She didn’t quite understand why she did this. Maybe it was because the team leader’s survival meant that the team was still alive. Maybe it was because the man had already died once and shouldn’t die a second time on the same day. Maybe it was because… she had a little affection for him.

The next moment, Gungunir pierced through the helicopter and crashed into the sea. A loud explosion was heard from the depths of the sea.

During this ruthless massacre, Odin kept looking at the sky quietly, with two lines of golden, lava-like traces flowing beside his mask. If those were tears, they must be the hottest tears in the world.

More than ten minutes later, the sea area was surrounded by groups of helicopters and speedboats. The Crane Group, who received the news, finally arrived, but when they arrived, they only saw a tattered ship, the wreckage of a helicopter floating from the bottom of the sea, and those immortals who died on their knees. They were shriveled up like century-old corpses.

The only survivor was a man standing on the deck, staring at the sky and crying silently. It was strange that he looked like an adult, but at first glance, one would mistake him for a heartbroken boy.

“The recently reported armed clashes between arms smuggling organizations and Tokyo streets saw a follow-up last night. Police located a Ukrainian cargo ship near Tokyo Bay. The vessel was severely damaged upon discovery and later completely lost buoyancy and sank to the seabed. Police speculate that it was damaged in an airstrike involving some type of weapon, possibly related to the recent armed clashes. No casualties or survivors were found at the scene, but a deceased female body was recovered in the nearby waters. The deceased entered the country from France on a Chinese passport, and police have launched an investigation into her background…”

In the conference hall of Valhalla, the elders of the secret party gathered together and read the Japanese news in silence.

There was an even longer silence afterwards. It was not that the secret party could not accept such a sacrifice, but the ship that was glimpsed briefly in the projection… was simply too terrifying. What kind of monster was that, and what kind of power was that?

“Are there no survivors of our people?” Beowulf broke the silence.

“Our agent stationed in Japan, Fujiwara Nobunosuke, survived. He was left behind to look after the acting director of the Japanese Executive Bureau, Ryuji Saeki. But Ryuji Saeki attempted to escape and killed two of our people. Fujiwara Nobunosuke jumped into the sea to escape, but he was also injured. He is currently receiving treatment in the hospital and is not in danger of life. He is the only confirmed survivor at the moment.” The projection of EVA was right behind Beowulf.

“Where’s our target? Still alive?”

“It’s impossible to be sure. Once the elemental turbulence arrived, the communication signal was blocked. My last order was to get them to safety.”

“How do those Japanese explain this?”

“Just now, Nanami Sakurai, the acting head of the Snake Eight Families, sent a letter expressing serious protest.”

“Protesting what?”

“They protested the academy’s unauthorized armed violence in Tokyo, claiming that Lancelot’s actions had severely damaged the trust between the Snake Eight Families and the academy headquarters.”

“How do they explain the incident with Ryuji Saeki?”

“Assisting Lu Mingfei was a personal act of Ryuji Saeki. Ryuji Saeki has been removed from his position as acting director of the Japanese Executive Bureau.”

It was a rare moment for Beowulf to let out a deep sigh, a sigh filled with loneliness. Some of those immortals had been his companions who had fought alongside him in their lifetime.
