Dragon Raja 5; Chapter 118: Thunder and the Watcher (28)

Dragon Raja 5

Lancelot drew one in each hand, and two of the seven deadly sins streaked across the night, forming a cross. Using a melee weapon to block a spinning, approaching helicopter was an unthinkable move. It wasn’t something a watcher should do; it was more like the whimsical Don Quixote.

But the helicopter actually stopped right before Don Quixote, its rotors still spinning at high speed, but it was stopped by the two crossed swords. The raging wind and fire that had just swept across the entire deck were blocked by an invisible barrier in front of Lancelot.

The next moment, the helicopter exploded. Not only the tank of fuel, but also the various heavy weapons mounted on board. The dazzling flames were mingled with the yellow-green glow of burning refined sulfur. That sulfur, similar in toxicity to dragons to mercury, was intended to suppress the dragon-like Lu Mingfei.

Everyone instinctively dropped to the ground, but Lancelot, who was closest to the center of the explosion, took a step forward and stepped directly into the center. No one could see what happened at that moment. In just a few tenths of a second, Lancelot’s arms, holding the knife, suddenly closed together, as if to contain the expanding flames within his arms.

There was no explosion, no overwhelming heat, not even a glimmer of light. When Lancelot stepped into the center of the explosion, everything suddenly became quiet, so quiet that he could hear the ebb and flow of the tide.

When people looked up, they saw a smoking helicopter parked in front of Lancelot. A ball of fire as bright as the sun was held tightly in Lancelot’s arms. It rolled and struggled, but could not leave Lancelot’s arms, just like a ghost encountering a barrier.

Lancelot folded his arms further, and the flame became smaller and brighter. Finally, it was held in one hand by Lancelot, like a seed of flame.

A moment later, Lancelot tossed it backhanded. The flaming seed left a long arc of light as it fell into the sea. A moment later, as if a sun were about to rise from the depths of the ocean, a pillar of fire broke through the surface with a resounding roar. This deep-sea explosion unleashed a massive wave that crashed onto the deck. Everyone instinctively ducked, but they still couldn’t avoid being slammed down by the waves.

The only one who survived the waves was Lancelot. He still stood there quietly, looking down at the roaring dark golden blade in his hand, as if he had just thrown a small walnut into the sea a moment ago.

“In Mr. Saeki’s mind, the principal’s most handsome moment was when he blew up the equipment department’s helicopter and then went to the Firefly artificial island to fight the Deadpools, right?” Lancelot asked.

Crow scratched his head. “You stole my line, that’s not nice. That’s right, the only way to leave here is by helicopter. Now this place has truly become a place without sky and earth!”

“So, this ship is a trap set for us? From the beginning, you never thought of cooperating with us, right?”

“My brother’s decision on where to go is his own. He’s already a grown man, and doesn’t need anyone telling him what to do.” The crow smiled. “My job is to keep you, to keep you in a place without a sky or a ground. You’re unpredictable, and I want to see you with my own eyes. By this time, my brother’s ship has reached the high seas.”

Lancelot was silent.

Crow suddenly burst into laughter, almost unable to stand. “I know what you’re thinking. With the shrewdness of a Watcher, you certainly wouldn’t believe everything I say. You must be secretly investigating my every move. I clearly hired a human smuggling ship, sent Lu Mingfei and the others aboard, and brought you here too, so why isn’t Lu Mingfei here?”

“Because I actually hired two boats.” The crow puffed on his cigarette proudly.

The crow held a cigarette in his mouth and raised his hands high, because everyone except Lancelot had their guns pointed at him.

“Is Lu Mingfei worth it?” Lancelot asked.

“Whether he’s worthy or not, honestly, I’m not sure. Perhaps I made the worst decision ever, letting go of a monster that will destroy humanity.” Crow shrugged. This movie star-level rogue now looked so sincere. “But have you heard that saying? Men shouldn’t choose a path lightly, and once they’ve chosen, they shouldn’t change it easily.”

“No.”

“My father, the famous philosopher Saeki Yuzo, said so,” the crow said solemnly, “one hailstorm night, I had already chosen my path.”

He sat cross-legged in the center of the deck, his hands still raised. He had long since tossed aside the spent submachine gun. He had no intention of resisting or escaping; he simply wanted to blow up the helicopter.

“I’m yours now. You can beat me or kill me if you want.” Crow smiled. “If you want to shoot, aim at my head. I’m wearing my most expensive suit today. Don’t get it dirty.”

The chanting sounded from hoarse to high-pitched, and then turned into a loud bell-like sound. Every note was like thunder. Humans should not be able to make such a terrifying sound.

But what was being released were not the offensive words that Nono had thought. The frogmen just kept chanting. The loud muttering carried unparalleled majesty, overwhelming Nono and pressing down on her. She dared not breathe and felt like her heart was going to stop.

It’s like a huge spirit standing tall and speaking to you condescendingly. Those words were pressing down from above the clouds, forcing to surrender.

This word spirit sounded a little familiar, as if she had heard it somewhere before… Nono suddenly remembered that everyone in Cassel Academy had experienced this word spirit – the word spirit “Emperor”.
