“Good night, sister.” Chu Zihang stood up, picked up his suitcase and was about to leave.

“Why don’t you share a room with your sister?” Lu Mingfei grabbed the doorknob first. “Didn’t you two share a room at the shrine?”

Nuonuo stared at Lu Mingfei suspiciously. Yes, this expression was definitely that of a vigilant little fox.

“What are you up to again?” Nuonuo asked.

“I wouldn’t say this place is safe, but I feel more at ease knowing that my senior brother is with you.” Lu Mingfei said quickly, “You’ve seen my senior brother’s skills. Even though he’s not as cool as before, he’s still a killer!”

Lu Mingfei went out with his suitcase. At this time, a long whistle sounded and the ground under his feet shook slightly. The ship set sail. They finally said goodbye to Japan. The next stop was Vladivostok.

The cabin opposite was just as dirty and messy. After Lu Mingfei entered the room, he glanced at his watch, took a shower, changed into clean underwear, and like Nuonuo, poured himself a glass of cheap vodka and drank it slowly while sitting by the porthole.

The wine was finished and his hair was dry.

He glanced at his watch again and opened the suitcase, which he had packed himself. Inside was a black backpack. He checked the Desert Eagle, the remaining short arc knife—the other one he had given to Chu Zihang—and the blueprint.

He listened at the door for a long time, and when he was sure there was no sound in the corridor, he quietly pushed the door open and walked away with cat-like steps.

After walking a long way, he looked back and saw the dim light at the end of the corridor.

There was not a single person on the deck. The engine room rumbled along, echoing the endless tide. Lu Mingfei walked half a circle along the deck and looked around the sea in all directions.

He checked his watch twice and saw a 20-minute difference. The speed of sailing near the coast was not fast, so he calculated that they were about 5 to 10 kilometers away from the shore.

Fog had appeared on the sea at some point, and visibility was extremely poor. He couldn’t even see the stern of the ship. Only the yellow light on the ship’s crane hung high above his head.

He strolled towards the stern, not seeing anyone along the way. He figured a garbage-hauling cargo ship wouldn’t need many crew members. They were probably all gathered in the cockpit and engine room, so there was no need for anyone to take care of the garbage.

It didn’t take him long to find the lifeboats Aliyev had mentioned: six orange-red fiberglass boats hanging on the racks on the side of the ship. They looked pretty decent, at least better than this junk ship.

Lu Mingfei read the instructions next to the pylon for a while and figured out how to operate it. The steps were simple: one, two, three, three. However, when he activated the mechanical lift, the old electric motor emitted a roar comparable to that of a supercar, startling Lu Mingfei. Fortunately, the even louder sound of the engine room drowned out the noise, and no one rushed over.

The lifeboat, suspended by a steel cable, slowly descended along the side of the ship and landed on the sea with a thud. In this vast ocean, the skyscraper-like side of the ship looked like an orange-red maple leaf.

Lu Mingfei also slid down by grabbing the steel cable, and performed a beautiful “superhero landing”, landing accurately in the center of the lifeboat.

Lifeboats usually don’t have power devices. If ship sinks in the middle of the vast ocean, don’t expect to rely on a small motor to reach a nearby island. You usually have to wait for rescue. So, despite Chairman Lu’s noble status, he had no choice but to row the boat. After just a few strokes, Lu Mingfei felt something was wrong.

The sea fog was so thick that even the yellow light on the crane was blurred a hundred or two hundred meters away from the garbage ship. He was completely trapped in the sticky darkness.

He took out Finger from his trouser pocket—or rather, the phone loaded with Finger’s personality—and turned on the screen. “Get up and get to work. Give me navigation.”

“Look, look, it still can’t do without me, right?” Finger sighed with emotion, “Didn’t I tell you right? The organization is unreliable! Women are unreliable too! A man can only rely on the arms of another man!”

“Get lost! Do you even know you’re an artificial intelligence?”

“I know. If I weren’t for the AI, I could help you navigate. The bow of the ship is 30 degrees east, and we are about 7 kilometers away from the nearest coast. If I weren’t for the AI, would you have a chance? If I were to take action, within three days, I would definitely capture your senior sister!”

“Come on! What I mean is, your real self has become a traitor and is probably in a meeting with people at the academy to figure out how to catch me! Which way is east? Just tell me, turn left or right!”

“Oh, my bad. I forgot you humans don’t have a built-in compass. Turn 30 degrees left. I actually despise that guy too. He’s a piece of shit! How could he betray his brothers? But maybe he has a compelling reason, like having an illegitimate child in Cuba and wanting to see him again.”

“You sound like it’s true!” Lu Mingfei paddled hard and the lifeboat slowly turned.

He was thankful for the fact that the student union had a rowing club, to which President Lu had allocated a budget, and had been eagerly invited to participate in boat drills. With the experience of rowing on the vast expanse of Lake Michigan, he felt confident in navigating the turbulent waters.

“No matter what, in the end, I’ll still be the one accompanying you on your journey across the world. What is a brother? This is what a brother is, right?” Finger sighed suddenly at this point. “But what will your senior sister think if she wakes up and finds you’ve run away?”
