The clerk answered the call in confusion, listened for a while, then walked to the table in confusion and handed the phone to the girl.

The girl looked up at the clerk with a sharp gaze, and stared at the phone for a long time, as if it were a time bomb.

Finally the girl took the phone and put it to her ear.

“Chen Motong, are you on the phone?” It was another girl’s voice on the phone.

“Who?” Nuonuo tried to make his voice sound calm.

“You can call me Norma, or EVA. We are old acquaintances, if I can be considered human.”

Nuonuo stood up and quietly grasped the throwing knife hidden in his sleeve.

“Since you can make this call, you should have located us accurately. What? The commandos haven’t arrived yet? Do they need your phone to delay time?” Nono moved cautiously along the wall.

She held the phone farther from her ear so she could hear sounds from all directions.

She was very familiar with the academy’s behavior. By now, the commandos should have set up a tight net. As long as the system gave the order, they would launch an attack in the most ruthless and direct way, dropping from the sky, breaking through the walls, or even emerging from under the floor.

“Don’t be so nervous, I’m here to help you.” EVA said lightly.

“Will you help us?” Nuonuo smiled. “Since we’re old acquaintances, don’t be hypocritical. You are the academy’s eyes in the sky and its most powerful weapon. We are now wanted criminals. If authorized, you can even launch a surface-to-surface missile to destroy us.”

“It’s fine if you really think so, but remember what I’m going to say next.” EVA’s voice was calm, without any fluctuations. “If I were ordered to track a fugitive, I would monitor global communication networks, customs, and cameras. In other words, as long as human civilization is advanced enough, it will be within my surveillance range.”

“What’s the meaning?”

“So you can’t go through major transportation ports. If you want to escape, you must drive. You need a car with an untraceable origin so that I don’t get a picture of the license plate. You should avoid cities as much as possible. It’s best to take mountain roads, deserts, or even cross uninhabited areas. If you want to leave China, the best way is to drive through border checkpoints. Don’t choose to go to wealthy and developed countries, as that’s where information monitoring is easiest. India, Bhutan, Mongolia, and Nepal are better destinations. I don’t need to tell you that credit cards, email addresses, and mobile phones are absolutely prohibited. Have plenty of cash on hand. I know all your acquaintances, including your childhood friends, like Shao Yifeng. Don’t seek help from these people. They may not be reliable, and even if they are, I can monitor them and lock you down.”

Nuonuo was silent for a long time, “Why do you want to help us?”

When EVA said Shao Yifeng’s name, Nono dispelled his doubts about this artificial intelligence.

EVA even knew about this follower she recruited in kindergarten, so EVA would also have records of her every entry and exit of Shao Yifeng’s company and apartment. However, the college’s commando team never appeared in front of Shao Yifeng, so EVA was indeed secretly protecting them behind the scenes.

“The order to protect Lu Mingfei is written at the bottom of my database. It’s still valid, but it’s not unchangeable. The person who can do it is on the way.”

“So you’ll soon become our enemy.”

“soon.”

“Escape? How long can you escape?”

“You can run as long as you can. Life is always limited. What’s important is the present, not the future.”

“When will it be the turn of intelligent systems to teach humans about life?”

“The drone will pass over you in fifteen seconds, and I’ll airdrop equipment to you one last time,” EVA said. “I’ve put everything I can think of in there.”

Nuonuo walked out of the hot pot restaurant and looked up to see the dazzling light in the night sky. A drone was flying low over the street where the hot pot restaurant was located.

Below it, a black parachute opened, and the parachute carrying the heavy aluminum suitcase landed accurately less than ten meters away from Nono.

After being airdropped, the drone flew away, plunging into the dark clouds above in a steep arc.

Nono opened the equipment box and checked it quickly. The academy’s equipment boxes came in many specifications to cope with different tasks, and this equipment box was the most complete one Nono had ever seen, and it was said to have everything.

Weapons, ranging from compact pistols to convenient throwing knives, and plastic-cased Frigga bullets that could pass airport security checks; passports from about ten different countries, each with a photo of Nuonuo and Lu Mingfei but a different name; cash from several different countries, credit cards that were accepted worldwide but untraceable; fake skin, potions, and wigs for disguise…

Nuonuo flipped to the last layer of the equipment box. It was empty except for a mobile phone, which was neatly embedded in the grid in the middle of the bottom of the box. This was definitely a VIP position in the equipment box.
