Dragon Raja 5

He has always been the leader of that safe haven; though young, his prestige was enough to command respect. But tonight, his family was being pursued, and everyone wants to know if he can still maintain his impartiality and responsibility.

Lu Lincheng didn’t give the order until the taillights of the other pursuit teams disappeared into the snowstorm. There were four pursuit teams in total; besides the one that set off first, there were two others that set off with Lu Lincheng’s team.

“Secretary-General, are you helping them buy time?” Natasha had to break the silence.

“These tire tracks are fake. Winnie isn’t the kind of person who’s simple-minded. She knows exactly how fast we’re chasing. Mingfei can’t walk, so they can’t outrun us,” Lu Lincheng said calmly. “She’ll choose the most difficult route, cross the frozen lake, climb over the highest snow-capped ridge, and cross the interface around there.”

He turned around and easily pointed out the right direction.

Natasha looked at Lu Lincheng in surprise, wondering if the man was just talking nonsense. At the same time, she instinctively raised her walkie-talkie to tell the other pursuers the news.

But Lu Lincheng snatched the walkie-talkie from her and stuffed it into his coat. Natasha stared wide-eyed in shock and anger; that walkie-talkie was her only means of communication to directly contact the committee.

“Secretary-General, what do you mean by this?” Natasha asked sharply.

“I just used your words to tell the other three pursuit teams that they should be advancing at full speed in the 60-degree direction,” Lu Lincheng said calmly. “Now we have no competitors. Turn around, we’re going to the Ice Lake.”

Natasha remained silent for a long time, but was finally convinced by the expression on the man’s face. He was so calm and determined, as if he were facing the mathematical model he was most familiar with, exuding the aura of a general making a decisive victory in battle.

She picked up the sniper rifle at her feet. This heavy weapon was held effortlessly and steadily in her hands, which were meant for typing. “Foolish woman, walking on the frozen lake is suicide!”

“You have no right to talk about Winnie like that. Under the same conditions, she could easily kill you three times, and you wouldn’t even see her shadow.” Lu Lincheng said calmly, waving his hand in an arc. “Full speed ahead! We must get there before they cross the frozen lake!”

The frozen lake seemed to stretch endlessly, with only a blizzard of snow and sleeve lashing at Lu Mingfei’s face, reminding him of the night he had been lost in the snow.

The only difference is that now there’s a housewife in front of him with a revolver in her bag. Her guinea fowl was terrible, but her marksmanship is excellent.

“Mom, take a rest if you’re tired. With this much snow, it’s hard for us to run, and it’s hard for them to catch up,” Lu Mingfei said.

The stubborn housewife said she was fine, but she walked slower and slower, and her once upright back began to hunch.

“It’s certainly difficult for humans, but the hellhounds will keep following; they’re used to operating in the snow,” Giovanni said. “And if the pursuit team is smart enough, they’ll follow the hellhounds.”

Lu Mingfei looked nervously behind him. He was still afraid of those military dogs with dragon blood flowing through their veins, especially since he was not a combatant at the moment. With just his mother’s gun, he was probably no match for a pack of wolves.

“They should be back where they were before, eating their dead brethren. They’re starving; they won’t let anything edible go to waste, but that little bit of meat isn’t enough for them. The smell of blood will attract the surrounding packs, and once they feel they have enough companions and are bold enough, they’ll come after us.” Giovanni gasped for breath. “But it’s not all bad. The pursuit team doesn’t dare approach areas where the hellhounds congregate. They’re so hungry they’ll even attack the pursuit team.”

What do we do?

“Keep going, keep going, escape before the hellhounds catch up with us. We’re very close to the interface. Listen for sounds and flashes around you. You’re branded, so you can spot the hidden passages. Sometimes the outside world will flash by like a mirage, but it’s not an illusion; that’s where the passages are.”

“Mom, you don’t have a mark?” Lu Mingfei asked in surprise.

“If I could leave, I probably would have come to find you long ago, and you wouldn’t have suffered so much.” Giovanni wiped the sweat from her forehead.

“Are we just going to waste gas like this, letting the autopilot take us around aimlessly?” Bunin shook his head and opened another bottle of vodka.

It’s hard to say whether they have more liquor or diesel left. If they run out of fuel, they might fill up their tanks with some good vodka. Having found the final bunker and replenished their fuel, they followed Su Enxi’s “tactics,” activating the autopilot and letting the hovercraft roam freely across the snowfield. Humans were to never interfere with the course. According to Su Enxi, even if it looked like they were about to fall into an abyss, they would never touch the steering wheel, because it was very likely an illusion, and they would simply drive straight into the Nibelungen. Bunin repeatedly reminded them that this was, a product of the former Soviet Union; they should trust its armor and machine guns rather than believe the engineers could create a reliable navigation system. But Su Enxi, heavily intoxicated with vodka, retorted with drunken ramblings like “crossing the terrifying border is the land of freedom.”

Only Chu Zihang did not drink alcohol. He tied the Spider Cutter and the Child Cutter behind his back, sat cross-legged in the center of the cabin, closed his eyes and concentrated, like a samurai about to go to the battlefield.

He said that when he last entered the Nibelungen, he had a very special feeling: the Nibelungen was exceptionally quiet. It was a very strange kind of quiet; he could still hear the wind and rain and the sound of tires rolling on the road, but the background sounds of the world had suddenly disappeared.

This sounds incredibly far-fetched, but it does fit Su Enxi’s tactics. Alexander Bunin seems to have a better chance of entrusting his life to alcohol than to these two.

Fortunately, there was a large amount of fuel in the last bunker. If all else fails, they can drive back to the bunker to refuel. This is the second night they have been wandering around aimlessly. They will probably keep driving until the engine overheats, and then find a low-lying place to stop the boat and sleep.

Su Enxi had already fallen asleep, and Bunin was also a little drowsy. Just then, Chu Zihang suddenly opened his eyes, his eyes as cold and bright as the reflection of swords.

“What noise did you hear?” Bunin suddenly woke up.
