Dragon Raja 5

“It’s been three days,” Chu Zihang said in a low voice, “and the last bit of fuel in the tank is gone.”

He and Su Enxi each wore a military overcoat and sat leaning against the corner of the hovercraft. It was pitch black all around, and the temperature inside the hovercraft had dropped to about the same as outside.

This was their third day staying behind. The snowstorm hadn’t stopped, and the team that went out to find fuel hadn’t returned. At first, they could maintain basic heating, and he and Su Enxi tried various ways to pass the time. Last night, the engine suddenly stopped, and the battery died very quickly in the low temperature. After a few hours, they even ran out of electricity for drain lighting.

For the time being, they were not in any immediate danger of death, because they had military overcoats, enough food and alcohol, and by wrapping themselves in the overcoats and eating and drinking continuously, they could avoid freezing to death.

“Aren’t you cold? If you are, come and wrap yourself up with me!” Su Enxi still had the mood to tease him. “As a gigolo, it’s only natural for you to serve the boss!”

“Aren’t you worried?” Chu Zihang wrapped his coat tighter, his ears filled with crunching sounds, unsure whether Su Enxi was chewing on compressed biscuits or beef jerky.

“What’s the use of worrying? I’m just an office worker; I can’t fight,” Su Enxi said. “The three who went out are all better fighters than me. They can handle it. Don’t you trust your junior brother?”

Chu Zihang was silent for a moment, then said, “I believe him. He’s very capable.”

“You used to be much better than him. You were ruthless and didn’t talk much. You were so cool that you had no friends. Women were especially attracted to you and would spend money on you without batting an eye.”

“Was I like this before?”

“But one can tell at a glance that you have a lot on your mind. You’re more fun the way you are now,” Su Enxi said. “Do you want to find your old self again? You’ll even find all those sad things along with you.”

“I do,” Chu Zihang paused, “but if I’m sad, at least I’ll remember who I’m sad for.”

“Why are you talking like an adult, you little kid?” Su Enxi said. “Your junior brother is just like you, knowing full well it’s a dead end, but he still insists on going to take a look.”

“He will come back.”

“You know nothing! You don’t even know what he is.”

“I don’t know, but I think he’ll come back.”

Just then, the door of the hovercraft opened, and someone rushed in amidst the wind and snow. Su Enxi and Chu Zihang reacted simultaneously. Su Enxi pulled a submachine gun from her military overcoat, while Chu Zihang, with his twin swords in hand, lowered himself low, instantly transforming into a ferocious beast.

The newcomer briefly shone his flashlight on his face; it was Alexander Bunin, whose entire body was covered in snowflakes, making him a complete snowman.

“Both of them are missing. This blizzard is not right!” Bunin said, his expression tense. “The good news is that I found the oil, but I only brought back fifty gallons.”

“We know you are Lu Lincheng’s son, but the rule for entering this safe haven is that your identity and the danger you pose must be verified, so please answer our questions truthfully. The lie detector here is very accurate; so far, no one has been able to fool it.” Natasha inserted the last electrode into Lu Mingfei’s neck.
These needle-like electrodes looked terrifying, but she inserted them very gently. Lu Mingfei only felt a slight numbness, similar to the effect of acupuncture.

Lu Mingfei sat on a simple wooden chair, with a lie detector on a cart next to him. It looked like a broken, cobbled-together device, but Lu Mingfei did not doubt her words.

Before he stood the members of the committee, who looked old but were vigorous. It was hard to judge their age, but each of them had a powerful aura, an aura honed by time and experience that could not be acted out.

Lu Lincheng and Giovanni were actually the two youngest members of the committee. Lu Lincheng sat in the center of the long table, where he was in charge of the evaluation. Giovanni sat at the corner of the table. The mother and son exchanged a glance, and Lu Mingfei smiled to indicate that he was fine.

“Could you briefly describe your name, identity, and background?” Lu Lincheng asked at the outset.

“Lu Mingfei, a fourth-year student at Cassel College, Chinese, with S-class bloodline, and the current student council president. He is currently wanted globally by the college, who consider him a dangerous target, possibly a high-level dragon.”

Someone glanced at Natasha, who stared at the dashboard and nodded slightly. “He’s cooperating very well, his nerve activity is normal, and his heart rate and blood pressure are within the normal range. He’s answering everyone’s questions honestly.”

“In fact, we all know who you are and why you are wanted,” one committee member said, “but I think you have a different story to tell about this than the board of trustees.”

“I used to firmly believe that I was a human being, even a very ordinary human being, and I even found the S-rank rating unbelievable. I don’t have any obvious Yanling Word Power abilities. If I did, it would be to transform into a monster capable of fighting against a Dragon King-level target.”

“This ability is very interesting. There’s no record of it in the current list of Words of Power.” The committee member smiled gently. “You killed Norton, the King of Bronze and Fire, Fenrir, the King of Earth and Mountains, and the newly born White King Herzog, didn’t you?”

I did it all.

“This would be an important, even incredibly great, achievement for any member of the Secret Service, so why has it never been made public?”

“Because I’m afraid. I feel that I might be in greater danger than those dragon kings.”

“My dear child, do you know what fear is?” another committee member said. “True fear comes from the unknown. When the mystery is solved, the fear naturally dissipates. We hope to solve this mystery for you. Please overcome your current fear for now and tell us everything you know.”

“I can make a deal with a devil who says he’ll do anything for me if I sell him a quarter of my soul.”

“Including killing the Dragon King?”

“Yes, he even said he would become the king of the world.”

“When did this devil appear in your life? Has he been with you since you were a child?”
