Dragon Raja 5; Chapter 332: For Your Majesty (147)

Dragon Raja 5

The glass container in her hand rolled to the side of the concrete pier, then rolled down into the deep ditch, returning to where it came from.

Bunin was not blessed with good fortune. After taking a few steps, a bullet shattered his shoulder blade. He staggered, but managed to take another step before being hit in the waist by another bullet, and he collapsed completely.

As fewer and fewer people remained on the concrete pier, the laser targeting points increasingly converged at its end. The flesh-and-blood shield formed by the hellhounds bore increasing pressure; their howls gradually turned into groans of agony. Under the intense firepower, their scales began to crack, and one hellhound after another fell. But even as they fell, they dared not flee, for the static collars inflicted even more horrific torture upon them. Finally, some clones could no longer endure the terror. The rifle assault bullets seemed endless; they fled from behind the hellhounds, but were quickly overtaken by the laser targeting points.

The leader of the Auchinez clones roared in Russian, roughly urging to stay close and hold on. He certainly commanded respect among the clones; scattering and fleeing offered no chance of survival. Many moved towards him, while the final hellhounds formed the outermost perimeter. At least a hundred guns fired in rapid succession at the last fortress of flesh and blood. They couldn’t hold out until the security system ran out of ammunition; the fortress collapsed, blood gushing into the deep trough. The black dragon, bound by chains, mistook it for food and strained its head to lick the contents.

The gunfire finally ceased, leaving a heavy smell of gunpowder in the air. Lu Mingfei held Christina tightly, and Chu Zihang held Zero tightly, surrounded by a dense mass of corpses. Someone had tried to escape using the immune chips on their bodies, but the closer they tried to get to these two individuals with immune chips, the more firepower they were focused on. The security system did this to prevent intruders from attacking those carrying immune chips.

Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang each carried a girl, strolling amidst mountains of corpses and rivers of blood. Neither of them spoke, both feeling utterly disillusioned.

The mysterious feast in City 023 came to an end. A feast held for immortality ended in hell. Ironically, these strangers survived.

Lu Mingfei found the controller next to Bunin and turned off the security system. Only then did the two of them release the girl from their arms and carefully.

The immune chips were on the two girls; whoever hugged them was essentially holding onto a lifeline. However, the security system did not reactivate; it was truly deactivated. Both breathed a long sigh of relief.

“Is she still alive?” Chu Zihang pointed at Christina.

“I don’t know.” Lu Mingfei shook his head. “Can’t feel a heartbeat right now.”

He glanced around and saw the two people, riddled with bullets and covered in blood, still clinging tightly to each other. These two hadn’t shown such deep affection when they first met; the boy was at ease among the girls, and the girl was exchanging flirtatious glances with several boys. Perhaps they were old lovers from many years ago, and the past had become meaningless. They used their youth, bought back with money, to find new partners, but when death came, they still clung to former their lovers’ hands as they fled, as if holding onto their entire lives.

Lu Mingfei sighed deeply, recalling Bunin’s dying words. Now, the person who was escorting him to his final destination was dead, and he was lost again.

Just then, a faint hissing sound came from the side. Lu Mingfei nimbly jumped up, and the short curved knife in his sleeve slid into his hand.

The hissing sound was actually coming from Christina’s body, as if a snake had slithered into her. Lu Mingfei was still in shock and uncertainty when a pale little hand emerged from Christina’s sleeve, only to vanish just as quickly. Lu Mingfei initially thought it was a hallucination. Then, Christina made a gurgling sound in her throat and slightly twisted her body as if trying to sit up. Lu Mingfei quickly rushed to support her, but suddenly Christina’s chest split open, spurting out a large amount of black blood. A slender yet agile figure leaped out of the opening like a white light, moving so fast that Lu Mingfei couldn’t even see it clearly.

Chu Zihang, however, was more alert. As Lu Mingfei approached, he had already reversed his grip on the Spider Cutter. As soon as the figure jumped out, he blocked Lu Mingfei’s path with the sword.

It sounded like metal scraping against metal. With the sharpness of the Spider Cutter, that thing should have instantly broken in two upon impact, but somehow it managed to block the Spider Cutter in a short moment and then disappeared into the darkness like a ghost.

Chu Zihang looked down at the Spider Cutter and his expression changed drastically. There were four fine scratches on the Spider Cutter, as if they had been made by claws.

The ancient alchemical sword is far more durable than ordinary metals; its blade typically requires no maintenance and can even repair itself. What creature’s claws could possibly harm it?

Chu Zihang and Lu Mingfei stood back to back, both of them with racing hearts and tense breathing. In a face-to-face confrontation, Kings Blaze could devour that ghostly shadow in an instant, but the way she disappeared into the darkness was an extremely rare Yanling called “Netherworld Illumination”.

This was practically a divinely inspired power for assassins; if she got close, she could instantly rip out a person’s heart. Lu Mingfei had only ever witnessed this power in that alluring and glamorous Japanese girl.

“Christina molted,” Chu Zihang whispered, “like a snake.”

This was also the first time Lu Mingfei had witnessed a molting process. A property unique to reptiles had appeared in a human. The serum of the ancient dragon had such a use.

Such a record has never appeared in the textbooks of Cassel College, yet it appeared in the desolate Siberia. Who could have studied dragons so thoroughly?

“Wasn’t that serum poisonous?” Chu Zihang continued, “Would she be able to regain her senses?”

“Do you remember? Her real father isn’t this Bunin. She originally had dragon blood flowing through her veins. She has a resistance to poisonous dragon blood; that stuff can’t kill her at all, and it even helped her evolve,” Lu Mingfei said.

Just then, a gurgling sound came from above. Lu Mingfei and Chu Zihang looked up and saw a little girl with white scales all over her body sitting on a thin steel cable. She was dazzling, beautiful and ferocious, with long platinum hair hanging down as if flowing with starlight. Chu Zihang and Lu Mingfei stood side by side, looking up at Christina with admiration, as if gazing at the stars.
