Dragon Raja 5; Chapter 270: For Your Majesty (85)

Dragon Raja 5

The GRU’s armored train overturned beside the tracks. Fully armed special forces soldiers knelt in the snow, holding their weapons high, and were surrounded by specialists from the Russian branch.

The entire station was reduced to ruins, with train parts scattered everywhere. The largest part was half of a forged wheel, which smashed half of the platform as it flew out.

Everyone, whether they were GRU fighters who were willing to be captured or the Russian branch commissioners in charge of guarding them, looked in fear at the figure standing on the wreckage of the train with a knife in hand.

Lancelot had been standing there for a long time. When he found that the person who walked out of the train with his hands raised was not a member of the Moscow Arms Dealers Alliance, he suddenly stopped and froze. All his murderous aura dissipated at that moment.

Even though just a moment ago, he had charged through a hail of bullets from an armored train, and in the moment he crossed paths with the train, he had cut the linkage shaft between the wheels with a single blow. That didn’t seem like something a human could do.

The train immediately lost control and overturned off the tracks. If Lancelot had not been there, with the firepower of the GRU special forces, it would be questionable how many of the Russian branch’s specialists could survive.

The Russian branch director came to the wreckage of the train and shook his head. “There was no one on that train. The GRU special forces said they were also tracking Alexander Bunin’s special train and mistakenly thought we were mercenaries sent by Bunin to ambush us.”

“How could this happen?” Lancelot’s voice was low and turbid.

“Bunin’s special train seems to be missing a few carriages. I guess they changed the locomotive midway and split the train into two.”

Lancelot was silent for a moment, then turned around, jumped off the train, and walked towards the ruined platform.

After taking a few steps, he suddenly began to tremble like an epileptic patient. A few seconds ago, he was as majestic as a god of death, but now he seemed unable to stand steadily and had to use the dangerous “Taotie” to support his body.

Before the Russian branch director could figure out whether to go up and help, Lancelot had already taken out the medicine box, put the pills into his mouth with trembling hands, and drank it with liquor.

He held the hilt of the knife and half-knelt on the snow. Half a minute later, he regained control of himself and stood up, panting.

“Go find a new means of transportation.” Lancelot said this, crossed the tracks and jumped onto the platform.

The head of the Russian branch looked at the man’s back. For some reason, he felt that the man was about to burn out… and was about to die.

The Bunin special train slowly drove into the platform. At this moment, they had crossed the vast Central Siberian Plateau, but had not approached Verkhoyansk, which was Lu Mingfei’s target.

This station would not appear on civilian maps. It doesn’t even have a name. There is only a number in front of the platform, “Station 23”.

But it was not a small station. The platform was wide enough to accommodate heavy trains. There was no one on the platform, but the snow on the platform had been cleared before the train arrived. Lu Mingfei noticed the marks left by the tracks. It was obvious that heavy tracked vehicles, tanks, or large tractors had run on this platform.

The service staff considerately rolled out a red carpet in front of the owner’s car. Zero, wearing a blue-gray coat, got out of the car with a cold face, and stepped on the red carpet with her suede high-heeled boots. Bunin was waiting for her by the car door and gently held up her hand.

The other guests did not receive such treatment. Christina, who was also wearing high-heeled boots, almost fell flat on the platform. Fortunately, there were enough admirers that someone immediately supported her on both sides.

Zero looked around. There was nothing but dense pine forest, the treetops covered in nearly a meter of snow. In the distance, rolling hills stretched out. She had no idea why a large station was being built in this icy, desolate place.

“I’m afraid we have to rest here for a while. The fuel in the engine has been used up. Allow me to show Her Royal Highness the Princess around my hometown,” Bunin said politely.

“You grew up in a train station?” Christina asked, perfectly demonstrating her linear thinking.

Bunin smiled but didn’t answer, leading them through the woods. The forest was surprisingly dense, its canopy blotting out the sun. Fat birds preened their tails high above. Perhaps because it was so dense, there wasn’t much snow in the forest, or perhaps it had been cleared. It was morning, and the winter sun was bright but soft, casting a speck of light on them. It felt less like a trek across the wilderness than a lazy morning stroll, which wasn’t unusual for anyone who’d been there before. Zero’s expression was also aloof, but Chu Zihang and Christina, with wide eyes, looked around curiously. Lu Mingfei had a strange feeling that these two might make a good couple.

“There’s no fucking GPS signal here.” Finger’s voice came from the headset.

Wearing headphones in a place like this would easily arouse suspicion, so Lu Mingfei put on a hat covering his ears.

“How is that possible? GPS is a satellite signal.” Lu Mingfei fell behind the team and whispered.

“There’s only one possibility: some device is interfering with the GPS signal,” Finger said. “Wherever it is, it’s still working.”

GPS jamming devices are not uncommon, but the fact that the jamming device is still working means that this station does not lead to ruins.

A barbed wire fence appeared ahead, with a no-entry sign hanging on it. However, the geographical location was a greater deterrent to tourists than the barbed wire. Without the financial resources of Bunin or military equipment, it would be difficult to reach the place even if one knew the location.

Bunin took out the key and opened the lock on the barbed wire, asking Zero to walk in front and the others to follow behind.

The further they walked, the wider their view became. Finally, they could see buildings in the distance. Stretching out in the distance was a real city! The avenue they were walking on was straight and wide, like the protocol avenue leading to Buckingham Palace.

There was neat residential buildings, power plants with thick chimneys, liquor shops and small stores everywhere on the street, and the fountain at the intersection has been frozen for many years.

One can only imagine how bustling this small town must have been back then. It wasn’t very large, but it had everything a city should have. There was even a small children’s playground, where a snow-covered wooden horse waited quietly, but no children came anymore.
