The captain glanced up at him, her eyes still sharp, but the chest of her uniform was soaked with blood.

Caesar immediately half-knelt and, with a very gentle gesture, pressed down on her sternum. As he had expected, her sternum and ribs were shattered, the broken bones having probably penetrated her internal organs. There were no surface wounds on her body; the blood was her spit.

The moment the Nautilus touched the soft mud, everyone adopted a shockproof stance, half-crouching with their hands protecting their heads, chests, and abdomens. Only the captain sat upright, steering the sub, determined to maintain its proper position at that moment. However, something heavy flew across her body and struck her in the chest. Despite the injury, she persevered, controlling the sub until she was out of danger.

Caesar was about to call for the medical officer, but the captain grabbed his arm firmly. “Hear me out. This submarine is the property of the Royal Navy. I cannot hand it over to you. You don’t have enough experience. But I will give the command to my first officer. You can trust him. He will indirectly obey your orders.”

“yes.”

“If you spot the Leviathan again, you should destroy it. In this situation, the Nautilus must destroy any possible enemy if it wants to protect itself. Some of the Swordfish torpedoes have modified warheads. My first officer knows the serial numbers of those modified torpedoes. Activate them without hesitation.”

“yes.”

“Try your best to ensure the safe return of my men to Portsmouth. Most of them are ordinary people. It is not their duty to fight against dragons.”

“yes.”

The captain slowly leaned back in his seat, the golden and sharp aura in his eyes fading. This powerful Alpha suddenly revealed fatigue and gentleness, and his fierce eyes now took on a gentle and subtle beauty, somewhat reminiscent of how he had looked when Caesar first met her.

Jiude Mai and Finger also noticed something was wrong and came over.

“If I can’t return alive, please tell your father for me…” the captain said softly.

Finger nudged Caesar with his elbow, implying that it was time to stop dwelling on your family’s romantic history. The captain moved her lips. Having fulfilled her duties as captain, her will began to sag, her breathing became intermittent, and it was difficult to utter a single word.

But she still forced herself to cheer up and said word by word, “He’s a bastard who should be castrated!”

Caesar nodded and said, “I agree. I will convey the message truthfully.”

“But you should love him, because he loves you.” The captain raised his eyes and looked at Caesar deeply. “Your mother, the woman named Gulveig, he didn’t hate her, but to him, that was a fate he wanted to escape.”

Caesar’s heart moved slightly.

For many years, he had been suspicious of his parents’ marriage. His father clearly did not love his mother, yet he accepted the bride assigned to him by the family. Pompey was a man who was difficult to be bound by rules. Even the elders in his family were helpless against him. But when it came to the choice of a bride, Pompey did not even struggle.

Gullveig was a mysterious surname. So far, Caesar has never met anyone from his mother’s family. He only knows that his mother comes from another wealthy mixed-race family.

A marriage between wealthy families…a fate one wants to escape…Could it be that his father’s indifference to his mother’s death was not because he was glad that he could do whatever he wanted without the constraints of a family – in fact, even when he had a family, he still wandered among all kinds of women – but because this allowed him to temporarily escape from something destined.

The captain seemed to understand something, but she slowly closed her eyes, never to open them again. The sailors realized the captain was seriously injured, but even then they remained at their posts, with only a few briefly glancing inward. Even after losing her ability to move, this woman’s remaining presence was enough to maintain order on the ship.

An officer came up to Caesar and gave a quick military salute. “Major Chamberlain, First Mate of the Nautilus, I will take over.”

“Thank you, Major Chamberlain.” Caesar stood up.

“Cassel College, Class of 1985, Department of Alchemy and Mechanics.” The first mate whispered, picked up the captain, turned around and shouted, “Medical Officer!”

Caesar breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that there was more than one half-breed on the Nautilus who knew the inside story, and they would have enough support for their next actions.

Before the medical officer arrived, Caesar suddenly heard a harsh friction sound. He didn’t need to use the word “Sickle Weasel” because everyone in the command cabin heard it. It was something hard scraping against the submarine’s hull!

Before the submarine touched the seabed, Caesar had already retracted his Kamaitachi, otherwise the overwhelming sound waves would have permanently damaged his hearing. The Kamaitachi could amplify and analyze subtle sounds, but it was completely useless against deafening roars. The powerful drumbeats in the concert hall, amplified by the Kamaitachi, sounded like a series of thunderclaps.

“Underwater camera! Aim at the stern!” Caesar shouted.

In fact, he guessed the reason without the need for an underwater camera. They had not gotten rid of Hydra, and the power that thing had attached to the Nautilus was stronger than they had imagined.

An image immediately appeared on the screen: half a Hydra was struggling to rise from the muddy belly of the boat, its body spraying with muddy blood, its neck moving slowly like an octopus’s tentacle. It was called half a Hydra because more than half of its neck was broken, and the surviving heads were three or four, which were unclear.

The mud layer had indeed dealt a heavy blow to the Hydra, dragging it through the mud for nearly half a nautical mile. Its delicate structure meant even the strongest bones couldn’t withstand the strain. Several of its necks were broken, and its heads remained trapped in the mud.

The scene on the screen was chilling. Hydra swayed its long neck, roaring silently, its red-gold pupils like glaring lights.

Its lower body was sunk in the mud, as if the Nautilus had grown a tail, which was flipping around desperately, breaking up the smooth surface of the mud.

It looked like Hydra was dragging the Nautilus into hell, but in reality, the opposite was true. It was an act of survival.

Hydra was seriously injured and could no longer float up on its own. It used all its strength to cling to the hull of the Nautilus, hoping that the power of the Nautilus could pull it out of the deep sea quagmire.

If it were dropped by the Nautilus, it would be slowly pushed down to the depths of the mud layer by the pressure of the sea water.

“100% thrust!” Caesar yelled, “We have to get rid of this guy!”

The Nautilus, already gliding at high speed, accelerated even further, its belly plowing huge furrows in the mud. The first mate, taking over the captain’s duties, drained all the seawater to maximize buoyancy and escape the slime’s grip.
