Dragon Raja 5; Chapter 230: For Your Majesty (45)

Dragon Raja 5

Just as he expected, within a few seconds, a thick layer of ice formed on the newly exposed water surface.

Caesar dove for more than ten meters, finally avoiding the madly growing ice. The sea was now his warm outer garment, his heart beating slowly, pumping heat throughout his body. There was still enough air in his lungs to last at least three minutes. He swam cautiously, searching for a blowhole and the mysterious whale.

He turned on the high-powered flashlight. He didn’t even bring down the Desert Eagle or the Dicktator, but he grabbed this flashlight.

The water was as clear as glass, and the beam of light had an astonishing penetration distance, illuminating the surrounding ice clusters, which also looked like bushes but growing upwards and downwards.

Surprisingly, there was a large school of Arctic cod swimming nearby, their green and yellow scales gleaming. These large fish were completely unperturbed by the Leviathan and continued to feed leisurely. Finger was also swimming among the cod. This guy was actually a good free diver, and he could actually keep up with the cod school by twisting his body.

Caesar stared in amazement for a moment, then suddenly realized that Finger wasn’t kidding. The water beneath the ice has a very low oxygen content. While fish can breathe underwater, they must seek out areas with higher oxygen levels. Therefore, in high-altitude areas, people drill holes in the ice, where fish gather to breathe fresh air. You can even scoop them out with a basin.

Finger was trying to follow the school of fish to find a crack in the ice. There had to be a crack in the ice. Leviathan’s appearance had caused the accumulated stress on the ice to explode, splitting even the ice peaks. There must be countless tiny cracks.

The cod were forming a huge whirlpool, spinning slowly under the ice. Caesar shone his flashlight over it and saw a reflective crack. Before the air in their lungs ran out, they entered the crack, poked their heads out of the water and took a deep breath of cold air.

The crack was nearly half a meter wide, with no end in sight. Through the ice at the top, a faint glimpse of the blue sky could be seen, indicating that the ice above was not thick. If they had ice axes, they might even have a chance to dig a hole in the ice. But now was not the time. The whale song was still echoing, and Leviathan was still swimming around.

The cracks were packed with Arctic cod, so dense it felt like a swarm of piranhas swarming into the Amazon River. Fortunately, the cod had little interest in Caesar and Finger’s delicious flesh, merely vying for the fresh air in the cracks. But the friction of so many slippery bodies was still uncomfortable, like being naked and entangled by a python.

Finger glared at Caesar fiercely, pointed at the flashlight in Caesar’s hand and made a “hush” gesture.

Caesar turned off his flashlight, slowed his breathing, and treaded water slowly. They knew nothing about Leviathan and were unsure whether the giant whale used vision, hearing, or smell to search for its targets. In short, they tried their best to reduce the possibility of being found.

This school of Arctic cod provided the perfect cover, and they were almost completely wrapped in it.

The sea swayed slowly, and the seawater poured into the cracks in the ice with a thunderous sound. Caesar could clearly feel a huge black shadow swimming silently below them, bringing up strong but slow shock waves.

It can’t even be said that it is swimming; a more appropriate term is “cruising,” like a strategic nuclear submarine.

As the seconds ticked by, Caesar’s temperature plummeted. Finger’s condition wasn’t much better. Perhaps it was the aurora or the near-frozen state, but his face looked a bit green, then frosted with a layer of white. It perfectly illustrated the image of an eggplant frost-bitten in autumn. Their eyes locked, their bodies close, afraid to utter a single sound. If they truly froze to death in this crevice and were dug out by the academy’s rescue team, they would likely be considered deeply in love.

Just when Caesar felt that Finger was about to swim over and hug him – this would indeed reduce the rate of heat loss – the whale song disappeared and Leviathan finally left.

It left at an astonishing speed, and the entire sea was shaken by its full speed.

Caesar and Finger both let out a long breath, but they only dared to let out that much air because they felt like they had lost a lot of their remaining heat.

“We have to get on the ice.” Caesar looked up at the top of the crack.

To be honest, this is very difficult. There are cliffs made of ice in front and behind, and the height from the ice surface is estimated to be five or six meters. If they had an ice pick, it would be possible, but they only had a high-intensity flashlight.

It is also very dangerous to go on the ice. The temperature on the ice is minus 30 degrees Celsius. They are covered with sea water and will be frozen into ice sculptures within a few minutes.

Their winter clothes were still frozen to the top of the ice peak.

At this moment of dilemma, bigger trouble came. The group of polar bears that were thought to have run far away suddenly appeared above the ice crack, looking down curiously.

The group of guys roared excitedly, and don’t know if it was a prelude to hunting or a call for more friends to share the feast.

They are the absolute overlords of the icy sea. Groups of polar bears can even hunt whales. Without weapons in their hands, they have no chance of winning.

The old polar bear in the lead let out a high-pitched roar, which was the sound of a hunting horn. The other polar bears followed suit, straightened their bodies excitedly, and slapped the ice hard.

Their fat-filled bodies were so heavy that they shake the ice, yet they float effortlessly in the water and swim as fast as penguins.

Just as the old bear was about to leap, it suddenly stopped roaring and moving. A sharp straight knife pierced its throat. The knife’s owner appeared behind the bear in the form of black smoke, her slender hands tightly grasping the long fur on the bear’s neck, having pressed the knife into it with her foot. Scalding blood spurted onto the ice, and the stench of blood filled the air. The girl let go, letting the bear fall, and looked around. She weighed perhaps only one-tenth as much as the old bear, and was as slender and graceful as a fox. The old bear could have crushed her with a single blow, yet he didn’t even stand a chance to struggle.

She was looking at the remaining polar bears, their eyes gleaming with a terrifying dark gold. After a few seconds of stalemate, the other polar bears turned and bolted away, disappearing into the darkness in an instant.

They are very smart animals. They realized that the gap between the two sides could not be made up by numbers. The fox was the hunter and they suddenly became the prey.

The girl stepped forward and stood at the edge of the ice crack, looking down at the shocked men below. Her long ponytail fluttered in the cold wind like a black battle flag.
