Dragon Raja 5; Chapter 49: Old Friend (18)

Dragon Raja 5

The shrine maiden costume seemed to come alive, gently waving its sleeves and rushing towards Nono.

Nuonuo wanted to escape, wanted to call for help, but she was powerless. She stood there blankly, still holding herself tightly in her witch costume… She smelled the increasingly strong body fragrance of the girl, which enveloped her completely.

    ***

Nuonuo sat up suddenly, his pajamas soaked with cold sweat.

She was still in her bedroom. The lights were off and the air was slightly chilly. There was no shrine maiden’s costume and no smell of any kind.

It turned out to be a dream within a dream. The last time she woke up, she actually woke up within a dream, entering another level of dream from one level of dream.

Damn it! How could I have such a strange dream? Nuonuo covered her face with her hands, took a deep breath, and calmed down her emotions… After a moment, she realized that this was the same as the time she woke up from a dream. Could she still be dreaming?

She suddenly felt a little scared, waking up from one dream and entering another, just like two mirrors reflecting each other, the picture in the mirror looked like a corridor leading to an unknown world.

She bit her thumb hard, and it really hurt, which made her believe a little that she was in the real world. However, when she turned her head, she became alert again. There was no one around her, and the boy who was sleeping soundly was not there!

She stood up silently, picked up the UMP9 beside her pillow, slowly approached the door, pushed it open suddenly, and dodged out to aim around.

She was stunned the moment she opened the door. The world was silvery white, the light of the stone lanterns illuminated the path, and the iron horses on the eaves jingled… Everything was exactly the same as she had seen in her dream.

Just as she was about to bite her fingers to confirm whether she was dreaming, two people squatting beside a charcoal fire nearby stood up. One of them adjusted his tall hat and asked, “Ms. Chen, is there something wrong?”

It was the young priest who had led them here. He was dressed in priest’s uniform, but funny enough, he was carrying an Uzi submachine gun on his back.

Chu Zihang, who had disappeared for no apparent reason, also reappeared. He was squatting side by side with the priest, holding an iron fork with chicken wings pierced on it…

“What are you doing?” Nuonuo looked at the two in surprise.

At this moment, she no longer doubted that she was dreaming. Such funny scenes should not appear in dreams.

“I just saw Mr. Chu coming out. He said he was hungry and wanted to find something to eat, so I took him to grill some chicken wings.” The priest raised the iron fork. “Miss Chen, would you like to try it too?”

“So you’ve been staying here all this time?”

This was different from the situation in the dream. In the dream, the shrine was quiet except for the flickering lights, and it seemed that even the cats were asleep.

The snow outside was not the same as the snow in the dream. It was tiny hailstones that fell not gracefully, and they hit the eaves with crackling sounds like salt being sprinkled.

It’s early summer now, so it shouldn’t be snowing that kind of continuous snow.

“Mr. Saeki has ordered us to protect our distinguished guests 24 hours a day,” the priest said. “Not only me, but all the priests are fully armed and on alert.”

The priest snapped his fingers, and at least twenty guys in priest costumes appeared from various corners of the courtyard and waved to Nono. The one on the roof was actually carrying a heavy sniper rifle.

After the priests finished their appearance, they all retreated. This shrine was essentially a heavily guarded fortress.

“I really recommend you try our chicken wings. They are quite good with beer. We often have them as midnight snacks.” The priest kindly invited Nuonuo to join him and Chu Zihang’s grilled chicken wings group.

Nuonuo was suddenly stunned. In her dream, she had found chicken wings in the kitchen, roasted them on the stove, and had a hearty meal. There was also a can of ice-cold beer.

“Do you often prepare chicken wings and beer here?” Nono asked.

“Most people think that we priests should drink water and eat rice balls, but we can’t stand eating such bland food all the time, so our kitchen is usually well stocked with chicken wings and beer.” The priest scratched his head.

Nuonuo was silent for a moment, “Then do you have an empty house here? There is a clothes hanger inside, and a set of witch clothes is hanging on the hanger.”

The priest’s expression suddenly changed. He stared at Nuonuo solemnly for a moment and said, “Yes, would you like to go and have a look?”

“Take me there.” Nuonuo took two steps and turned back to look at Chu Zihang, “After eating the chicken wings, go back to sleep.”

The priest led Nono through the white courtyard and into the back garden of the shrine, where there were several rows of old houses that looked dilapidated and hidden in the shade of trees.

The priest stopped in front of a door, and instead of opening it, he quietly recited a passage. Nuonuo couldn’t understand what he was saying, but she could sense the solemnity. From the moment she asked about the miko’s outfit, this young priest, who loved beer and grilled chicken wings, suddenly became serious, like someone who could truly communicate with spirits.

The priest unlocked the door and slowly pushed it open. This was the empty house in the dream, except that in the dream it was unlocked, as if waiting for someone to come.

The furnishings in the house were exactly the same as in the dream, the only difference being that it seemed a little deserted, whereas in the dream the house was full of people, as if the owner had just left and would be back at any moment.

Hanging on a vertical clothes hanger was the red and white miko’s costume. Nono stood before it, examining it for a long time, then reached out and gently touched the garment. It didn’t react at all. It was just a piece of clothing, so of course the visions she’d dreamt of wouldn’t appear.

There were all sorts of stuffed toys in the cabinet, some of which seemed to have been removed, leaving empty spaces. Judging from the size of the miko’s costume, the owner should be about the same size as Nono, also tall and slender. But looking at the stuffed toys, it seemed like the residence of a little girl.

Nuonuo strolled around the room, breathing slowly, feeling every bit of the room, her thoughts going deeper, deeper, and deeper… The profiling began to take effect, and she slowly immersed herself in a certain emotion, as if time was flowing backwards.
