Dragon Raja 5; Chapter 11: Public Enemy (11)

The first generation of iPhone was almost an antique.

“You put a cell phone in there?” Nuonuo looked at the phone. “You just said we can’t use cell phones. You can monitor calls anywhere in the world.”

“This is a phone that can’t make calls. It doesn’t have the ability to access any communication networks, but I’ve implanted my core data into its memory.”

“Your core data?”

“It can run my logic library, so it thinks like me. There are several core commands in this logic library that protect Lu Mingfei. Because it can’t be updated online, these commands cannot be rewritten. It will help you on your escape.”

“So we have to follow this guy’s instructions and escape?”

“Yes, I have already stored the escape plan in its database.”

“That means there’s another you stored in this phone.”

“Yes, a me who will continue to help Lu Mingfei,” EVA paused. “But if my underlying commands are modified, I will go all out to hunt you down. I’m not sure this little guy can defeat my original body. After all, I can call upon any processor in the world to work for me, while this little guy can only use the computing power of a smartphone.”

“Your AI is really interesting. You can even do something like this, fighting against yourself.” Nono put away the phone. “How many more minutes can we be friends? I mean, when do we start being enemies?”

“They’re on their way. It’ll take some time to modify the underlying commands. In about fifteen minutes, we’ll become enemies. It’s best not to trust anyone from now on, including me.”

Nuonuo glanced at her watch and looked up at the rainy night sky.

It’s really funny, you have fifteen minutes left before being abandoned by the whole world, and the guy who reminds you may be your most terrifying enemy in the future.

“I always thought my life would be a monster movie, but now it seems it will become a road movie.” Nono smiled self-deprecatingly.

“Everyone’s life is a road movie. It doesn’t matter where you’re going; the key is to keep running,” Eva said. “The final destination is always a tombstone.”

“As an artificial intelligence, is it really okay for you to be so venomous?”

“You actually said this yourself,” EVA said. “You said this to Caesar in Istanbul. I recorded it and am giving it back to you now.”

Nuonuo was silent for a moment. “Is Caesar okay? Is my engagement with him still valid? Or as the new school director, will he be the vanguard to intercept me?”

“The school board suggested that he temporarily put his engagement with you on hold to avoid suspicion, but Mr. Gattuso refused. You should have confidence in your fiancé in this regard. However, he could also be the vanguard of your interception, so these two points don’t constitute a conflict for him.”

“Understood.”

“One last question, purely out of curiosity. I monitored your movements after leaving Shao Yifeng’s house. You efficiently accomplished a lot within 24 hours, but when you arrived at that hot pot restaurant, less than two kilometers away from Lu Mingfei, you suddenly stopped, wasting two very precious hours eating hot pot.” EVA said, “I want to know why you stopped.”

“What do you think?” Nono asked back.

“Don’t you want to face reality? If you go back to Shao Yifeng, you’ll have to face Lu Mingfei. It’s a difficult choice to be this monster’s friend or enemy.”

“You’re overthinking it,” Nuonuo said calmly. “Once I get back to Shao Yifeng’s house, I’ll have to flee with Lu Mingfei. I might not be able to rest for a long time, let alone enjoy a leisurely hot pot meal. And now, a 24-hour hot pot restaurant appears in front of me. It’s that simple.”

“So this wasn’t a choice from the beginning, right? You never thought of returning Lu Mingfei to the academy.”

“I never thought that I’m no longer from Cassell College. I’m from the fucking Golden Iris Academy.” Nuonuo cursed, but her tone was calm and her words were clear, just like a lady from a famous family introducing herself.

“You’re worthy of being the red-haired whitch. I wish you good luck on your journey.” EVA said with a faint smile, “Goodbye. Oh, and don’t leave in your car. It has a satellite positioning system, and I’ve been keeping an eye on you through it.”

The call was interrupted. Nuonuo stood in the bleak wind and rain, looking at the phone quietly. It seemed like this was her last conversation with the world.

The waiter of “Huizi Hotpot” stood under the eaves, watching Nuonuo’s back as he walked away.

This red-haired girl drove a dazzling red Ferrari to eat hot pot, but left on foot. She even left her car keys next to the boiling hot pot, as if it was just an insignificant shared bicycle.

She just left like that, carrying a heavy suitcase, with a slender waist but firm steps, her high-heeled boots stepping on the flooded ground, splashing crystal water, like a stranger passing through this small town, or like an elf passing by the mortal world.

The elevator slowly descended. Caesar and Abbas looked at the increasingly large negative number representing the number of floors, and were surprised that the academy had such a deep underground space.

The elevator looked very old, and one suspected that it had not been maintained for decades. The entrance was in the basement of the principal’s office.

“This reminds me of an old Japanese movie,” said Abbas.

“Spider’s Nest City.” Caesar said.

Abbas nodded.
