“Understood. We’ll be outside, so call on us if you need anything.” The head of the medical team bowed deeply and left the room.

The room had been set up as Erii’s ward, located in her own bedroom. It was a beautifully designed Japanese-style room, with ancient paintings hanging on the walls and white sandalwood incense burning. Only one window provided a view of the outside, but it couldn’t be opened. The window was fitted with 20 centimeters of bulletproof glass, with gel layers sandwiched between the glass. Even heavy machine gun fire wouldn’t shatter it. According to regulations, only Tachibana and Chisei could directly approach Erii. The medical team was not allowed to enter the wooden hallway leading to her room unless explicitly permitted. This was to protect the medical staff—ending a life was too easy for Erii. It was hard to predict when she might decide a certain living being didn’t need to exist anymore, and one brief command could end a life.

She was a monster, and no one wanted to get too close to a monster. Even the medical team that was closest to her only observed her through monitoring equipment, watching as she moved through this enclosed space day after day.

That’s why Chisei insisted on staying with her until she woke up. Otherwise, Erii might feel lonely when she opened her eyes.

Where was she the last time she woke up? Did she see Lu Mingfei’s face? Was she happier seeing him than she would be seeing Chisei waiting here? Chisei’s mind wandered.

He felt as if he had lost something, like a brother watching his sister grow up. Her curves became more pronounced, and she became more of a “woman.” One day, she would no longer cling to him, calling “Brother, Brother.” When he asked her who she went shopping with, she would tell him it was none of his business.

Tachibana silently entered the room and sat beside Chisei. “Things seem to be going well.”

“Yes, it’s all good now. Why did it take so long?” Chisei focused intently on the purified blood flowing through the transparent tubes into Erii’s body.

“It’s nothing major. I can handle it. You should focus on overseeing the Red Well. That’s the real priority,” Tachibana said as he looked at Erii’s face.

“When will it be finished? According to the head of the Miyamoto family, we should be able to break through Akagikawa in at most three days. That will be a day worth remembering, and I hope you’ll come with me, Dad.”

“Don’t worry, it will be dealt with soon. The task of killing a god is something I definitely want to witness,” Tachibana said as he stood up, kissed Erii on the forehead, and turned to leave.

“See you later,” Chisei said, his expression unchanged as he stared at Tachibana’s retreating figure, his eyes glinting like unsheathed blades.

“Tokyo Tower is a steel structure, standing 333 meters tall. At 100 meters above the ground, there’s a two-story observation deck, and the special observation deck is located at 250 meters. There are four high-speed elevators, three going from the ground to the main observation deck, and one going from the main deck to the special deck. Each elevator can carry 32 people at a speed of 9 kilometers per hour. Aside from the elevators, there are also stairs; climbing 590 steps will take you directly to the top of the tower,” Ruri explained, pointing at the architectural blueprints.

“Meeting on the special observation deck will certainly allow them to avoid outsiders, but if a conflict arises, the losing side won’t even have a chance to escape,” Caesar said.

“Therefore, we can assume that Tachibana will likely have an elite unit stationed nearby. If the negotiations break down and Osho kills Tachibana, Osho himself would also find it difficult to escape from Tokyo Tower,” Ruri added. “What we need to do is, first, eavesdrop on their conversation, and second, take advantage of Osho’s lack of escape routes at the tower to eliminate him. By choosing Tokyo Tower, thinking it’s an isolated place between heaven and earth, Osho has essentially trapped himself.”

“What’s your plan?” Caesar tapped the table.

“First, we need to install a bugging device, which is a bit tricky. Osho has undergone strict spy training and always carries a full-spectrum signal scanner. If there’s a bug around, that machine will alert him. Tachibana has even more experience—when he was still Bondarev, he was one of the KGB’s top intelligence officers,” Ruri said, turning to Finger. “But from what I know, Finger von Frings is Cassell College’s expert on surveillance. The News Department under his leadership has dug up all kinds of incredible intelligence.”

Finger had been savoring the last bit of his noodle soup, but upon hearing his name, he looked up from his bowl, glancing around like a hamster interrupted during its meal. He had no desire to get involved in an assassination plot against Osho.

“Don’t you have other surveillance experts?” Caesar asked.

“We’re planning to ambush Osho. How could we entrust this to anyone in the Oni Clan?” Ruri replied. “Cassell College people are the most suitable.”

“You’re impressed with my skills?” Finger looked confused. “I thought you invited me to the shop because you saw potential in me as a host.”

“You do have the potential to be an excellent host… but given the current situation, I’d rather you act as a surveillance expert,” Ruri said, caught off guard by Finger’s comment.

“So, your compliments were insincere, huh?” Finger looked dejected, so much so that he lost his appetite. “I actually believed I could have a bright future in the host industry after what you said.”

“I’m truly sorry, I…” Ruri was at a loss for words.

“Don’t bother discussing these things with Finger; he’ll confuse you,” Caesar interrupted. “Finger, I’m the leader of this team now, and since you’re a part of it, you’ll listen to me. So tell me, how do we avoid the full-spectrum signal scan?”

“There are many ways, such as laser eavesdropping. You use an invisible laser beam aimed at a window’s glass, and the sound waves from conversations inside cause subtle vibrations in the glass. These vibrations lead to a phenomenon called polarization shift, and by monitoring this shift, you can reconstruct the conversation. Since no bug needs to be placed inside the room, the signal scanner won’t detect anything,” Finger explained. “However, this equipment has an effective range of only 100 meters, meaning the laser emitter must be within that distance.”

“The special observation deck is 250 meters high. We can’t eavesdrop from the ground,” Chu Zihang said.

“What if we install the laser emitter on Tokyo Tower itself?” Caesar suggested.

“That type of equipment requires real-time adjustments to keep the laser beam at nearly a vertical angle on the glass,” Finger explained. “If we install it on Tokyo Tower, the laser beam will almost be parallel to the surface of the glass.”

“I actually have an idea,” Lu Mingfei said, recalling something as he scribbled on a napkin and showed the sketch to everyone.

“That depends on the weather. Something that big would be easy to observe, even at night, if the weather is clear,” Caesar said, looking at Chu Zihang and Ruri. “Has the weather forecast for tomorrow night come out yet?”

“Heavy rain with thunderstorms,” Ruri said. “The plan is feasible.”

“We need to send not just the laser device up there, but a person as well. Finger just mentioned that someone has to adjust the equipment in real-time,” Chu Zihang said.

Caesar suddenly turned his head, staring seriously into Finger’s eyes. “Finger, how much do you weigh?”

“190 pounds, all muscle, don’t underestimate the results of my hard work in the gym! I’ve got to live up to the name Heracles, right?” Finger didn’t bask in his pride for long before he sensed something was wrong. Caesar was sizing him up, as if inspecting a pig about to be weighed.

“Then we need something that can support 200 pounds. Problem solved, let’s move on,” Caesar said without wasting time explaining, as both Chu Zihang and Ruri seemed to understand, their expressions showing they were in on the plan.

“Never mind Tachibana, Osho is our primary target. He’s too strong and too cunning, always having a retreat route,” Ruri said slowly. “Only in a place without heaven and earth do we have a chance.”

Caesar and Chu Zihang exchanged glances and both nodded. After Lu Mingfei’s direct encounter with Osho, that man’s shadow loomed in all their minds. He transcended human logic. What humans truly feared weren’t just strong enemies, but things beyond understanding, like ghosts.

“There are only two ways to reach the special observation deck: a high-speed elevator and an external maintenance ladder. I’d like the two of you to guard the elevator and the ladder, respectively,” Ruri said.

“If they’re meeting in secret, wouldn’t they clear the area around Tokyo Tower?” Caesar asked.

“They certainly will, and they’ll probably use infrared binoculars to monitor the tower. On a rainy night, the temperature will be around ten degrees, while your body temperatures are 37 degrees. No matter where you hide around Tokyo Tower, you’ll be easy to spot with infrared binoculars, appearing as bright red human figures. So, you need to hide in the underground parking lot. Beneath Tokyo Tower is a five-story building called Tower Building, and below it is a two-level underground parking lot. Infrared binoculars can’t monitor underground areas,” Ruri explained, pointing to the building at the bottom of the blueprint.
