Dragon Raja 3

For the first time in his life, Humpback Whale considered retiring and bidding farewell to the host business he regarded as his lifeblood. The trouble today was just too great, so great that Takamagahara might have to close its doors.

“You have no idea who you’re messing with! I’m going to tear down this place’s sign and kick you all out of Shinjuku!” The fat lady roared like a fire-breathing T. rex.

All the hosts stood in a row, bowing deeply, with Humpback Whale leading them.

And it was all because of BasaraKing and his friends.

Last night, the fat lady and her friends booked the third-floor “Summer Moon” and specifically requested BasaraKing and Ukyo to keep them company. To round out the group, they dragged Little Sakura in as well. Worried that the boss’s precious ones might get in trouble, Humpback Whale hurried to report the situation.

For the past week, the bosses had been holed up in their secret office, not only reclusive but practically inaccessible, living off the convenience food Humpback Whale brought to their door. Anyone else who owned a luxurious nightclub would have made a grand appearance to meet their clients and assert their ownership, but these bosses seemed uninterested in letting the staff know they existed. Everyone, from the waitstaff to the hosts, still believed Humpback Whale was the true master of the place. Humpback Whale didn’t understand their intentions and didn’t dare to pry.

When he opened the door, the scene shocked him. A gigantic Rimowa suitcase was sprawled open on the floor, and scattered around it were women’s clothes and shoes—MaxMara cashmere coats, Burberry Prorsum trench coats, Jimmy Choo Roman sandals. Wolford stockings hung over chair backs, and Victoria’s Secret lingerie dripped from the air conditioner’s vent, still wet. Su Enxi was lounging in a loose T-shirt and beach shorts, her fluffy hair wild enough to hide a few magpies; Mai was hanging by one hand from the ceiling, dressed in a long white silk nightgown, reading a detective novel, looking every bit like Sadako.

The luxurious office had transformed into a college girls’ dorm room, and the bosses had grown so bored they seemed to be sprouting mushrooms.

Humpback Whale quickly bowed deeply. “I’m terribly sorry for barging in without knocking, but a group of customers has dragged BasaraKing, Ukyo, and Little Sakura into one of the private rooms. I’m worried they might get handsy with them after a few too many drinks, so I came to ask what you’d like me to do.”

“Isn’t that just part of growing up? It’s a great life experience,” Mai said without even lifting her eyes from her book.

“No, no! BasaraKing and Ukyo are gentlemen! Little Sakura is a proper young man too!” Humpback Whale couldn’t exactly call the boss’s precious ones loose.

“Gentlemen and proper young men have to grow up sometime,” Su Enxi said, not taking her eyes off the TV. “If they do get taken advantage of, just send over a bottle of champagne and call it their coming-of-age celebration.”

“Are… are you sure about that?” Humpback Whale was horrified.

“What else can I do? I’ve already offered the champagne; do you want me to send over some fruit and snacks too?” Su Enxi waved him off lazily. “Dismissed.”

Humpback Whale left the secret office, completely bewildered.

Since the boss didn’t care about her “lovers’” purity, Humpback Whale decided it wasn’t his place to worry either. He had a server place a bottle of champagne at the door of Summer Moon and then went upstairs to sleep.

At five in the morning, the sound of a pig being slaughtered exploded from the third floor, jolting Humpback Whale awake. Could it be that BasaraKing had fought off the advances, beaten the fat lady up?

He rushed downstairs two steps at a time to find out what had happened, only to learn that his hosts had gotten the clients drunk, dumped them in the private room, and sneaked off to party elsewhere. The fat lady and her friends had slept for seven hours, then woke up in a fury.

This was a serious violation in the host club business. What BasaraKing and his friends had done was equivalent to ruining Takamagahara’s reputation, and under normal circumstances, they would be kicked out. But while Humpback Whale wanted to maintain discipline, he didn’t have the guts to cross the line—those three were the boss’s darlings, and BasaraKing and Ukyo were both promising heartthrobs. Out of camaraderie, Humpback Whale knew he had to protect them. To protect them and the club, he first had to placate the fat lady. He gathered all the hosts in the dance hall to apologize to the guests, and Fujiwara Kansuke discovered that the fat lady was the daughter of a high-ranking official in the Tokyo tax office. If they offended the tax bureau, Takamagahara really would struggle to stay afloat in Shinjuku.

The fat lady slapped her thigh, sending waves of flesh rippling. “I don’t care who apologizes! Go get Ukyo! I want him to kneel and kiss my feet!”

“Ukyo and the others must’ve had an emergency and stepped out. Once they return, I’ll personally bring them to apologize to you. In the meantime, we’ll waive all your expenses from last night and give you a lifetime VIP card,” Humpback Whale groveled. “They’re young and inexperienced. Please be lenient with them.”

“Waive my bill? VIP card? You think this is about money?” The fat lady grabbed handfuls of cash from her purse and threw them at Humpback Whale’s face. “You think this is about money?”

Humpback Whale inwardly groaned. This wasn’t going to end well. The fat lady was clearly obsessed with Ukyo but was using his mistake as leverage to break his spirit and make him obedient.

The fat lady slapped her left leg. “Basara King!” Then her right leg. “Ukyo! Otherwise, I’ll go to the police and report you for sexual assault!”

She shook the champagne glass sealed in a plastic bag. “With my tolerance, do you think a few glasses of champagne could knock me out? What do you think would happen if I sent this to the police department for testing? Maybe they’ll find drugs in it?”

She had finally played her trump card. If those fools had really been dumb enough to spike the drinks, Takamagahara would be done for!

“Please, calm down, everyone! This whole mess is indeed BasaraKing and Ukyo’s fault, but ultimately, I am the manager of this establishment! Their lack of discipline is my failure! So let me, the man who made the mistake, kneel down and kiss the feet of you beautiful ladies in their place!” Humpback Whale steeled himself, prepared to swallow this humiliation.

The fat lady looked Humpback Whale up and down and instinctively recoiled her feet. Her delicate feet against the rough, bristly beard of this bald-headed man—could this really count as compensation? This felt more like torture.
