Dragon Raja 3

“I have dirt and scandals on all the heads of the families! So, don’t worry! If the Yamata no Orochi family pushes us too hard, we’ll expose their lecherous ways to the media!” Finger exuded confidence.

“That’s not the kind of intelligence we need. We need information about the relationship between the Yamata no Orochi family and the Oni Clan, as well as intel on places like the Well of Bones,” Lu Mingfei said weakly.

“The Oni Clan… Well of Bones? I just heard about that from you guys. Why? Is that intelligence more important than the scandals of those big shots?” Finger was shocked.

“Of course! Didn’t I mention the White Empress earlier? Compared to the White Empress, who cares about their secret affairs? Do you even understand the situation, brother?” Lu Mingfei said.

“Wh-wh-white… White Empress?” Finger stuttered.

“Yes! The thing about to awaken could be the most formidable enemy the Secret Party has ever faced!” Caesar said slowly. “The Japanese call it… a god!”

“That’s tricky. I always thought the Principal sent me to Japan to bring down those old men in disgrace… So, I spent all my time installing pinhole cameras and bugs. I’ve got lots of their scandalous photos. Since they’re no use now, how about we take a look for fun?” Finger pulled a USB drive from his pocket.

“Are you sure you’re not working for the Yamata no Orochi family to take us down?” Lu Mingfei asked.

“No, obviously, the Principal sent me to take you down…”

“Come on… now’s not the time for jokes!”

“You started it. I could feel your fighting spirit, and I didn’t want to disappoint you by not playing along.”

“Alright, alright,” Chu Zihang interrupted the meaningless exchange. “It’s not entirely a bad thing that we ran into Senior Brother Finger…”

“You already think it’s almost a bad thing, right? You basically said it!” Finger exclaimed.

“Sorry, that’s not what I meant.” Chu Zihang awkwardly rephrased, “In a way, it’s a good thing. Senior Brother Finger has brought us some important information…”

“Are you talking about the scandalous photos?” Finger asked.

Chu Zihang, exasperated by Finger’s antics, ignored him and continued, “At least we know that the Principal had foreseen the situation in Japan and planted people here ahead of time. These agents don’t communicate with each other, but they’re all gathering intel on the Yamata no Orochi family. This means we still have a chance to find more allies.”

“If we can find a way to send out our information without the Yamata no Orochi family noticing, we might be able to attract more comrades,” Caesar said.

“That’s a good plan. We should stay here and wait for help,” Finger said, as if he had already become part of the group. “You’ve found a great hiding spot. The Yamata no Orochi family would never expect us to be hiding right under their noses, and this place has some real tradition.”

“What tradition? Whose tradition?” Lu Mingfei was puzzled.

“A Japanese tradition. During the Meiji Restoration, the revolutionaries used to hide in brothels to hold meetings, using the pleasure houses as a cover for their activities. Not only did you guys hide in a brothel, but you even started working here,” Finger marveled, “That makes your concealment even more effective!”

“If we’re so well-hidden, how did you manage to find us, Senior Brother?” Lu Mingfei suddenly sensed something was off.

“I’m here to join you. You guys are so popular right now, don’t leave me out. What do you think? Would the manager like me? If I’m going to mix with you guys, I need a stage name too, right? How about ‘Heracles’? Women will imagine me as a muscular hunk!” Finger rubbed his hands together, eyes gleaming. “Just hearing my name will get them excited.”

“You’re the one who’s excited,” Lu Mingfei said. “I was asking how you found us. Can you focus, old man?”

“While I was chatting with some girls in an internet café…”

Lu Mingfei thought to himself, You’re so broke you can’t even afford food. You pick up discarded burgers from the roadside, and yet you still go to internet cafés to hit on girls!

“Some random ID sent me a photo of the three of you in uniforms, looking super sharp. He said he was your colleague,” Finger said. “He gave me the address, so I followed it here.”

“What was the ID?” Chu Zihang’s face suddenly darkened.

“Something like Ruri, a really feminine-sounding name!”

“Carelessly mocking someone’s stage name isn’t very gentlemanly.” The waiter placed a tray on the bar and set down four portions of tempura shrimp and two bowls of miso soup in front of Finger.

He took a chilled glass from the fridge, grabbed the whiskey bottle from Finger, and skillfully made a Japanese-style mizuwari (whiskey with water), placing it in front of Finger. “Strong alcohol can hurt your stomach. Adding a bit of water will make it easier on you.”

He sat down next to Caesar, twirling a silver bar spoon in his hand.

Lu Mingfei was so shocked he almost jumped out of his seat. The bar was near the dance floor, lit only by a few dim green LED lights. The waiter sat in the shadows, his features finely chiseled, and the green-tinted light made his delicate face appear almost otherworldly. He was none other than Chisei, the super-hybrid who led Japan’s yakuza.

Caesar placed a hand on Lu Mingfei’s shoulder, gently pushing him back into his seat. “Don’t worry. The handsome one is the older brother, the feminine one is the younger brother. Would you like me to introduce him, or do you want to do it yourself?”

“Ruri, real name Chime, the second-in-command of the Oni Clan and a Dragon King,” the waiter said slowly. “Chisei is my twin brother. But you can all just call me Ruri. That’s the name I use when I appear on stage.”

The atmosphere at the table suddenly plummeted to freezing point, and none of the three spoke. The veins on the back of Chu Zihang’s hand could faintly be seen bulging, Caesar’s hand inched toward the Desert Eagle at his waist, while the cocktail spoon in Ruri’s fingers spun, turning into a blur of silver light.

The interests of the Oni Clan, the college, and Ruri himself did not align. Even if Ruri was telling the truth, there was still no trust between them. Being twins, Ruri’s bloodline should be no weaker than Chisei’s, and that silver spoon in his hand was undoubtedly a lethal weapon.
