Dragon Raja 3; Chapter 356: Family Dinner (17)

Dragon Raja 3

No matter how many times they slashed his back, he looked only ahead, ramming the Toyota with all his might. If he could just break through this roadblock, he would win. He only hoped Erii had some driving experience so that if he collapsed, she could take over the wheel.

Due to excessive blood loss, his consciousness began to blur. He repeatedly recalled what Daoge, the troublemaker from the other school, had once told him: the key to fighting wasn’t about landing blows, but about enduring them. If a group was beating you up, no matter how many there were, you had to focus on beating down the leader. You’d definitely take more damage because while you’re attacking him, others are attacking you, but if you can hold out, he won’t be able to leave unscathed. You couldn’t let him walk away victorious and untouched—that’s the pride in fighting.

He pressed Erii’s face tightly against his chest, shielding her from the blood splattering in the rain. He didn’t want her to see, afraid that it would push her already fragile mental state to the brink of collapse.

Someone leaped off a motorcycle and landed on the Lamborghini’s engine hood, swinging a baton that struck the back of Lu Mingfei’s head.

He felt like his skull reverberated like a struck iron bell, with blood spurting from both his nose and mouth. That beautiful strike with the baton almost broke his neck, but his brutal regenerative abilities quickly kicked in. Within seconds, newly formed cartilage cells patched up the cracks in his bones, and the bleeding in his torn neck muscles stopped. His brain flooded with adrenaline and endorphins, helping him suppress the pain.

Then came another precise, powerful strike from behind, a blade cutting deeply into the muscle of his shoulder blade. The rider, now brandishing a bloodstained dagger, sped past, but Lu Mingfei had already shoved the car door open. The aluminum door shattered on impact, sending the burning motorcycle skidding across the ground, while the rider somersaulted into the air.

The young man standing on the engine hood was shocked to find that the baton strike hadn’t given Lu Mingfei a severe concussion. The guy still had a death grip on the steering wheel.

In his surprise, the young man swung the baton again, striking Lu Mingfei’s neck repeatedly, trying to break it for good. Lu Mingfei’s head wobbled side to side under the onslaught, his neck seemingly already broken, with only muscles holding up his battered head like a punching bag.

He struggled to keep his eyes open, but everything was a blur. Voices shouted from all directions, though he couldn’t make out the words. They felt like the hissing of snakes. He could so clearly feel the malice of the world—everyone wanted him dead, and they cheered for the man swinging the baton. He was the enemy of the entire world… and if the world saw you as the enemy, hadn’t you ever thought of destroying it?

Once again, he rammed the Toyota, sending the baton-wielding man tumbling off the engine hood. A lasso suddenly flew from behind, tightening around Lu Mingfei’s neck. It was a trick used by Texas cowboys to lasso wild horses, but apparently, some Japanese gangsters were good at it too. After the rider threw the lasso, he immediately turned his bike around. Lu Mingfei could no longer grip the steering wheel as he was yanked backward and thrown heavily into the puddle-filled street.

The rider dragged Lu Mingfei toward the end of the alley while his comrades swarmed toward Erii to snatch her away.

Even though his powerful regenerative abilities were working to heal his almost-severed throat, the severe lack of oxygen left him limp, his vision narrowing as darkness encroached. With the last of his strength, he gazed at the dazed Erii, who was growing farther and farther away. Seven or eight people were lunging at her, eager to claim the beautiful prize worth 10 billion yen, as if they were about to tear her apart and take her pieces for the bounty.

In his final moments of consciousness, Lu Mingfei felt a sense of guilt. Why had Erii chosen to trust him? If only she had trusted his lethal senior brother instead. If King’s Blaze ignited right now, the entire street would turn into a sea of flames.

“You wouldn’t be so scared anymore…”

A clear voice echoed through the entire street—it was a girl speaking. She spoke in an ancient, primal language. Lu Mingfei had never heard the word before, but he instinctively understood its meaning.

The word meant: “Death!”

Erii raised her hand, her five fingers tracing five parallel arcs through the air. Wherever her fingertips passed, everything was shredded. In an instant, everyone near her disintegrated as her hand moved. They felt excruciating pain in their chests or throats, but before they could even comprehend what had happened, they were already tearing apart along those wounds. Massive amounts of blood erupted, blooming like crimson flowers around Erii. She leaped into the air with a beastly grace, landing as she grabbed the rear bumper of the Lamborghini.

Incredibly, she lifted the supercar over her head and hurled it toward the approaching riders.

The car spun and ignited mid-air, the flames illuminating Erii’s defiant figure. She stood tall like a king, yet monstrous like a ghost. She spoke that ancient word again in a voice like cold metal: “Death!”

The command was given to everyone on the street, sparing only Lu Mingfei and herself. The Lamborghini shattered in mid-air, and its razor-sharp fragments, soaked in fuel, ignited into a blazing inferno. These fiery shards, like arrows, swept across the entire street. Dozens of motorcycles, along with their riders, were caught in the storm of metal and flames. The explosions rang out, one after another, shaking the northwest corner of Ebisu Garden. Each burning motorcycle bloomed into a massive fireball, lining the street in a procession of destruction. Lu Mingfei watched as the riders twisted in agony within the flames. The lucky ones died in the explosions within seconds, while the unlucky ones writhed and rolled, suffering as if they were being tormented in hell.

Amid the blood and fire, the figure with the monstrous horns approached Lu Mingfei, casually slicing apart those who were on the brink of death. Her skirt fluttered as her slender legs, which had once entranced even Lu Mingze, were now covered in pale scales, with muscles rippling beneath them.

Their eyes met—Lu Mingfei lying on his back in the puddle, Erii standing beneath the pitch-black sky. The world was being drowned in the storm.

It was a gaze shared between two monsters. Lu Mingfei’s wounds were healing rapidly, and the tight-fitting scales on Erii’s body clicked into place, making crisp sounds. Rain fell on their heated bodies, turning into white mist before dissipating in the wind.

She was still wearing that beautiful blue and purple dress draped with black gauze, but in Lu Mingfei’s eyes, she had already transformed into an empress clad in a blood-red robe. Her dazzling golden eyes no longer held any wariness toward the world, but instead, they were filled with the joy of slaughter.

There was truly no need for her to be afraid—she was a creature that could rule the world through sheer violence.

Maybe she was about to kill him? This thought flickered in Lu Mingfei’s mind but vanished as quickly as it came, because the blood-soaked empress bent down and tightly embraced him.

Lu Mingfei froze. At some point in your life, haven’t you also felt this way… that only by holding someone tightly can you be sure you’re truly alive?
