Dragon Raja 3; Chapter 351: Family Dinner (12)

Dragon Raja 3

“I have something to take care of, so I’ll leave first… I’ll come visit you during summer vacation,” Lu Mingfei said dryly.

At this point, it didn’t matter what he said. He had wasted his efforts trying to build a good relationship with Aunt. Even if he managed to muddle through today, one day Aunt would realize there were even greater forces behind him. Being stronger than Aunt’s son was his original sin.

He grabbed Erii’s hand and hurried out, not knowing if the Lamborghini parked at the back door could outrun the Ferrari 599 GTB.

Erii clearly knew her way around the restaurant. She led Lu Mingfei, running through the corridors, then suddenly stopped and showed him a pre-written note: “Was I bad? Did I do something wrong?”

Lu Mingfei stared silently at this girl, naive to the ways of the world, and thought to himself, Being good isn’t enough. In this world, you have to be smart, cunning, and go along with what others want. Being well-behaved still makes you a hindrance.

“You’re very good, Erii. It has nothing to do with you,” he said, gently patting her on the head.

“Hey! Lu Mingfei! Stop right there!” Uncle’s voice came from the end of the hallway as he rushed after them, shouting in a low, angry tone.

Lu Mingfei didn’t have time to let Uncle interrogate him, so he simply said, “Uncle, I really have something urgent, I’ll explain later!”

But Uncle wasn’t having it. He grabbed Lu Mingfei’s arm and said, “Tell me the truth! Did you get into trouble outside? I saw police and gangsters outside; are they here for you?”

“No… no…,” Lu Mingfei tried to deny it.

“Don’t lie! You didn’t go to Japan to study, you’re mixed up with the Yakuza, aren’t you?” Uncle’s eyes glared.

“No, really, it’s not like that… I just can’t explain right now…”

Uncle reached behind his back, pulling out his old wallet. Inside were a few yen bills, probably a little over 10,000 yen. He took out a 10,000-yen bill and stuffed it into Lu Mingfei’s hand. “I don’t know what kind of trouble you’ve gotten into, but you young people see more of the world than us. There’s no point in hiding things from us. I’ve gotten into trouble and had to run before—when you’re on the run, always carry cash! Credit cards, ATMs, cars, they’re useless!”

Lu Mingfei stared at the 10,000 yen in his hand, remembering that he had about 800,000 yen in large bills in his pocket. Uncle probably thought he had no money, based on his earlier hesitation, and had come out to give him some cash.

This man, who loved to show off but never dared to cross his wife, barely had any money of his own—just a few scraps of cash Aunt allowed him for pocket money. This money was probably what Uncle had saved up privately, maybe to secretly buy some adult films.

Lu Mingfei lowered his head, his eyes suddenly welling with tears.

After hesitating for a few seconds, Uncle stuffed the remaining yen into his hand as well, pushing him gently. “Go, go! You can’t mess with the Yakuza in Japan. Lay low for a while, then head to the embassy. China is strong now; they won’t let the Japanese bully you anymore.”

He glanced at Erii. “And don’t bully that Japanese girl either. She seems like a good one! You’ve got good taste, kid. Uncle can spot a good girl a mile away!”

“Don’t take your Aunt’s words to heart. She’s nothing, just a woman! I’m the one in charge at home. When this is over, you must come home. I’ll talk to her for you!” Uncle turned and jogged back inside.

That man was always so verbose and self-important. He had come out to interrogate Lu Mingfei but never even gave him a chance to respond.

The sound of the Ferrari’s engine had stopped one street away—Chisei had been blocked by the police barricades. The Tokyo traffic police didn’t take orders from the Yamata no Orochi. They were just following orders from higher-ups to seal off all roads near Ebisu Garden Place. They didn’t care about the Yakuza.

This gave Lu Mingfei and Erii a chance to escape. Holding hands, they ran down the hallway, Erii’s heeled boots tapping urgently against the floor.

Lu Mingfei clutched the money Uncle had given him, and suddenly, nothing seemed scary anymore. Yes, he was fleeing like a stray dog, but back home, there was still someone waiting for him. There was still someone in the world who acknowledged him as part of the Lu family. And he wasn’t alone—he had the obedient Yakuza princess by his side, her beautiful skirt billowing, with her exquisitely perfect legs showing. This kind of escape was the epitome of romance, like those “spur-of-the-moment trips” and “reckless loves.”

As long as someone was waiting for you, as long as someone was with you, no matter how far you ran, you weren’t a stray dog—you still had the happiness of a house dog.

The narrow hallway stretched straight toward the elevator, with a replica of Katsushika Hokusai’s Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji hanging on the wall. A black-haired server stepped out of the elevator, standing in front of the painting, holding a silver tray with a thermal cover.

“Sir, Miss,” the server bowed slightly, lifting the cover to reveal something black and stick-like that resembled a dessert. “You haven’t had your dessert yet, have you?”

Lu Mingfei thought to himself, I’ve already paid the bill, and I’m about to flee. Forget the dessert; just clear the way!

But Erii stopped dead in her tracks, and Lu Mingfei could no longer pull her along. He turned to urge her forward, but then noticed that her eyes had come to life. Compared to her flawless appearance and figure, Erii’s eyes had always been a weak point—most of the time, they were clouded with a vague haze, lacking vitality. But now, that mist had vanished, and her eyes shone with a blazing, intimidating gold.

She stared intently at the server, her hands trembling. Lu Mingfei felt a chill in his heart as he realized that the expression in her eyes wasn’t anger or a killing intent—it was fear. As one of the most fearsome hybrids in the world, perhaps the strongest, Erii was actually afraid of this server!

Erii took several steps backward, but the server didn’t advance. He simply extended the silver tray toward them, as if inviting them to partake in the exquisite dessert.

A strange wind stirred the server’s long black hair, and Lu Mingfei began to tremble as well—because he saw the server’s face! The server was wearing a ghastly white mask, painted with the face of an ancient Japanese nobleman, with crimson lips and pitch-black teeth, framed by a dignified smile. The more Lu Mingfei looked, the more he felt that it wasn’t a mask at all, but the server’s actual face! Or perhaps the mask was fused to his skin—Lu Mingfei could see the corners of the server’s mouth curling upward.

He trembled alongside Erii, unable to stop himself from retreating. He didn’t know why he was so scared—standing right beside him was a hybrid capable of using Judgement. If this server was an enemy, Erii could annihilate him with ease.
