Dragon Raja 3; Chapter 310: Tokyo Love Story (6)

Dragon Raja 3

A few seconds later, the thunderstorm reached the love hotel, and the glass windows shook violently, almost shattering from the noise. The room was plunged into darkness, and at the same time, a startled cry came from the bathroom.

Lu Mingfei was scared out of his wits. He jumped up and rushed toward the bathroom. Girls were usually afraid of thunderstorms, and if this sudden crash of thunder frightened Erii out of her mental state… Lu Mingfei might just have to bite Thunder God himself!

It was only when he reached the bathroom door that he realized something was wrong. Erii was in there taking a shower. If the thunder hadn’t scared her, but the intruding pervert did, then the one responsible for Tokyo’s destruction would be him.

But it was too late. He burst into the bathroom like a cannonball, slipping on the wet floor, and fell face-first, sliding across the soapy surface until he hit the opposite wall. They were staying in the top suite of the love hotel, and while the room wasn’t as luxurious as a five-star hotel, the bathroom was as grand as a presidential suite. It was designed with lovers in mind, likely because couples enjoyed spending time together in the bathroom. The space was large enough to fit a snooker table.

“Gomen nasai! Gomen nasai!” Lu Mingfei shut his eyes tightly and covered his head, shouting apologies.

The bathroom was deathly quiet. After a long while, he heard a soft sigh, not in any particular language, but more like a long breath of admiration.

Cautiously, he opened one eye, glanced around, and then opened the other. The bathroom lights had gone out, and only the faint glow from outside filtered in through the window. The water in the bathtub rippled gently, with foam floating on the surface, reflecting colorful lights. Erii sat in the tub, her entire body submerged under the foam, with only half her head visible. A small yellow rubber duck floated near her head. She stared blankly out the window, completely ignoring the fact that a pervert had barged in.

At this moment, Lu Mingfei should have known to leave quietly, but following Erii’s gaze out the window, he froze too.

Tokyo Skytree was illuminated, as if it had been ignited by the lightning. Normally, the tower would be lit up in various colors, but during stormy nights, it would be turned off to reduce the risk of lightning strikes. On such a stormy night, Tokyo Skytree should have been dark, but now it was glowing with pink and purple lights from top to bottom. Above, dark clouds loomed like a crushing force, while below, the city was lit up brightly. The brightly lit buildings resembled giant lanterns placed on the ground. Among these countless lanterns, the pink-purple tower rose, piercing the black clouds above.

The scene was so beautiful it felt surreal. Lu Mingfei wasn’t religious, but he couldn’t help thinking of the Tower of Babel from the Bible. People had fired bricks and used tar for mortar, building a tower in Babylon that reached the heavens. From then on, no one would ever get lost again. In the vast wilderness, you would always be able to see that brightly lit tower, where the sound of hammering echoed day and night.

“I want to go there,” Erii wrote with her finger in the condensation on the glass.

The city lights reflected in her eyes, like a sea of golden stars.

Lu Mingfei nodded and dipped his finger in water to write on the glass: “Okay, I’ll take you tomorrow. You finish your bath, and I’ll go buy some milk for you.”

Before the lights came back on, Lu Mingfei got up and left the bathroom, grabbed an umbrella from the table, and headed out. The landlady, wearing a kimono and wooden clogs, rushed upstairs to apologize to the guests, explaining that the transformer had tripped due to the lightning. The guests, some half-dressed in sexy lingerie, angrily complained, saying, “I was about to undress, and now you pull this?”

Without saying a word, Lu Mingfei walked through the crowd, holding a tissue over his nose. Of course, he had to leave the bathroom like a gentleman before the lights came back on; otherwise, Erii would notice the nosebleed he was hiding. When Erii had written on the window earlier, she had risen from the foam, revealing her swan-like neck and pronounced shoulder blades… Caesar had been right—this human weapon was indeed well-developed.

“Report from the front-line broadcast team: the groom has purchased four bags of chilled milk from the convenience store on the north side of the street and has returned to the room.”

“Roger that. From the window, we can see that the bride has finished her bath and is blow-drying her hair, waiting for the groom’s return.”

“The bride has drunk the milk and gone to bed. Lights out observed.”

“Roger that. From the broadcast vehicle on the north side of the inn, it looks like the groom is spending the night in the bathtub.”

Mai stood by the window, wearing a headset, listening to the conversation between the command center and the front-line broadcast team. Although the so-called show was a complete sham, the seven broadcast vehicles were real. Each vehicle was equipped with a five-person team, for a total of thirty-five people working in the field. The command center had seventeen experts, eleven assistants, and, including herself and Su Enxi, there were sixty-five people behind the scenes. This was the largest puppet show in the world, and the only puppets on the stage were Lu Mingfei and Erii. Below the stage, sixty-five puppet masters were frantically pulling the strings.

The broadcast vehicles had finished their work, but the command center remained busy.

“I need detailed profiles of the actors—education level, family background, relationship history… the more detailed, the better. Without data, it’s hard to analyze their psychology.”

“The rain is heavy. If the city floods tomorrow, it will affect their plans. Check the Tokyo Meteorological Agency’s website for the weather forecast!”

“Have two taxis stationed outside the love hotel, 24 hours on standby. In this terrible weather, it’ll be hard to hail a cab. If they can’t get one, they might cancel their outing.”

“Photoshoot! We need the bride’s photoshoot! Hurry up! We’re waiting on the photos to plan the wardrobe!”

The hall was buzzing with activity. Mai had offered a very tempting salary, and the experts were working tirelessly to ensure the success of this grand production, eager to prove their worth. There were also cameramen recording the experts at work, waiters weaving through the crowd with trays of champagne, directors rushing back and forth, and the loud clacking of high heels filled the space. Everyone was talking loudly, the atmosphere brimming with energy. It gave Mai the illusion that she really was a director, responsible for a reality show, with this hall serving as her command center. Everyone was working together to create a joyful and loving TV program. Soon, the bride and groom would be walking down the aisle in traditional Japanese attire at Meiji Shrine, distributing invitations to the experts, who had played matchmakers, while flower petals rained down to escort the couple to their marital bliss.

Back in the love hotel’s bathtub, Lu Mingfei, who had once been envious of top students admitted to Tsinghua and Peking University, was now unknowingly enjoying the perks of a “three-free” marriage package—no need to meet the in-laws, no dowry, and no need to buy a house. Unfortunately, he hadn’t yet realized the immense happiness he was in, as he snored loudly in the bathtub of the love hotel suite.
