The black helicopter took off against the violent wind and rain, circled around Genji Heavy Industries once, then turned and flew away from Shinjuku, disappearing into the brightly lit high-rise buildings like a black fish swimming towards the starry sea. On the rooftop, the armed officers of the Execution Bureau helplessly watched its shadow disappear… At this point, the playback ended, and Crow turned off the projector.

“The footage was captured by the rooftop surveillance cameras. A helicopter with MPD markings picked up Miss Uesugi Erii, but we couldn’t trace the helicopter’s registration number. From the model, it doesn’t look like a disaster relief helicopter from the police department,” Crow reported.

“Just a civilian helicopter repainted, the simplest kind of deception,” Chisei said as he pulled out the IV needle from the back of his hand.

The White Empress bloodline gave him ten times the recovery ability of ordinary people, but even after severe injuries, he still needed glucose and antibiotics to help his recovery, and he was supposed to rest in bed. However, he didn’t have time to rest. He had just finished dealing with Tachibana’s affairs when the cleanup team reported that Uesugi Erii had run away from home.

Chisei wasn’t worried about Erii being kidnapped. There wasn’t anyone in the world capable of abducting her, and she had left him a note: “Going out to play, will be back in a few days.”

This was Uesugi Erii’s twelfth time running away from home, but this time she had finally succeeded, thanks to someone’s help.

“Who exactly is the person with Erii?” Chisei asked.

“We couldn’t capture his face. He always kept his back to the camera,” Crow replied.

“Have you checked the transportation hubs?”

“We’ve checked airports, train stations, ports, and subways… No sign of Miss Erii. Preliminary assessment suggests she’s still in Tokyo,” Yasha reported.

“It’s been 20 hours! She’s never been away from home for this long in her entire life!” Chisei slowly clenched his fist. “Suspend all other matters! Mobilize all available forces, and even if you have to turn every building in Tokyo upside down, you must bring Erii back to me!”

“Yes! The Execution Bureau will give it everything we have! The key personnel from both the Kanto and Kansai branches have already joined the search!” Sakura stood at attention.

“No! That’s still not enough! Offer a 1 billion yen reward to all major gangs in Tokyo. If anyone provides accurate information on Erii, they’ll get the reward! But if anyone harms her… their head will be worth 1 billion yen!”

“I know all of you are very tired, and I’m also very tired,” Chisei leaned back in his chair, “but none of us can rest until we find Erii. I won’t be at ease until she’s back with me.”

Yasha and Crow exchanged glances, then stole a quick look at Sakura, all of them sharing an understanding expression. They had never understood why Chisei was so indifferent to Sakura, a beautiful woman who was first-rate in both appearance and efficiency, especially with such an alluring figure. Any other boss with a stunning assistant like her would have made a move. It wasn’t until they saw Chisei’s anxiety over Erii’s runaway that they realized the truth: the boss was a sister complex.

“Rest assured!” Yasha replied solemnly. “In this glitzy Tokyo, an innocent girl like Miss Erii with a mysterious man is too dangerous! We understand your concern, Boss. We won’t give that man any chances! If he even dares have any impure thoughts about her, I’ll snap his neck!”

Chisei looked helplessly at his simple-minded subordinate. Even though this wasn’t a time for jokes, he couldn’t help but smile wryly.

“You still don’t understand what I’m worried about. I’m not concerned about Erii’s safety, but rather the safety of this city. Twenty hours is more than enough time for her to destroy Tokyo… if she wants to,” Chisei said quietly.

Dark clouds loomed over the city, and a storm was approaching.

In the computing hall of the Tokyo Meteorological Bureau, people were bustling about, and the supercomputers were running at full speed. This was their third week of overtime, and all vacation requests had been denied. Key personnel were required to keep their phones on at all times, ready for action.

Three weeks ago, the Meteorological Bureau submitted an official report to the Chief Cabinet Secretary, stating that the weather conditions in the Tokyo area had undergone drastic changes. The rainfall was nearly seven times that of previous years. Although cherry blossom season had passed, the city was still blooming with flowers.

The temperature had been rising much more slowly than in previous years. The cherry blossom trees mistook it for early spring and began to sprout new buds after their flowers had fallen. The sight of the city in full bloom attracted large numbers of tourists who remained in Tokyo, but to meteorologists, this bizarre phenomenon was chilling. Earthquakes were frequent, volcanoes were spewing smoke, sea levels were rising, and the ground was sinking every day.

From a geophysical perspective, such changes should take 100,000 years to occur. Yet these changes had happened within just three weeks—a sign of a looming catastrophe. The Meteorological Bureau couldn’t pinpoint the cause of the disaster.

The Tokyo government had secretly made disaster preparations, but they hadn’t dared to make the news public. Once the news broke, millions of people would evacuate from the city’s core, which would cause chaos and an untold number of deaths, injuries, and property losses.

Miyamoto Shio stood by the window, gazing out at this dazzling city.

The computing center was located on the outskirts of Shinjuku. Outside the window, countless neon signs stacked one upon another, and the long streets of Kabukicho were filled with people of all kinds. At this hour, drunken office workers were just stumbling out of the bars, walking only a few steps before dragging each other into the next bar. Young girls dressed provocatively in high heels solicited customers by the roadside, while the sign of the “Free Guide Service” trembled in the cold wind before the storm.

“Tokyo is still a city that knows how to sleep, but Shinjuku is an untiring youth!” Shio muttered to himself.

At over fifty years old, he could only stand afar and marvel at the way young people burned through their youth. A certain crisis was looming, yet these drunken youths were still dancing, arms around each other, in the nightclubs.

His phone beeped in his pocket. Half a minute later, hundreds of people began pouring out of the bars and clubs, scrambling to get to their motorcycles. Within minutes, the streets were gridlocked. Everyone revved their engines, refusing to yield, which was uncharacteristic of the normally polite Japanese. But the people frequenting these bars were mostly low-level yakuza thugs—once they were desperate, there was nothing they wouldn’t do. The people now facing off on the street were those very thugs. Just minutes ago, they had been drinking and joking around with the dancers inside. Now, they were ready to draw blades and start slashing just to leave the street first.
