Dragon Raja 3

Lu Mingfei felt like he was lying on the surface of the ocean, with the sun caressing his body like soft hands.

Where was this? The Caribbean Sea? The Great Barrier Reef? Or… heaven? He suspected that he was already dead; otherwise, there was no way he could have gone from being shot down in a rainy night in Japan to waking up in a sunny, warm, beach resort.

The scent of lavender and seaweed filled his nose, the water beneath him gently undulating, and every pore of his body relaxed… He sneakily opened his eyes a sliver to check his surroundings.

This habit had been with him for a long time. When he was little, watching revolutionary education films, there was always a scene where a Japanese soldier splashed a bucket of cold water onto the face of an underground resistance member. The member would slowly regain consciousness, and the Japanese soldier would angrily demand the secret code. The resistance fighter would either spit in their face or give a fiery revolutionary speech, which would enrage the Japanese soldier, leading him to shout, “Beat him harder!” Lu Mingfei always thought to himself that the resistance member lacked revolutionary wisdom. No matter how many buckets of water they dumped on him, he should keep pretending to be unconscious. Maybe then the Japanese soldiers would think he was about to die and go find a doctor instead.

Mist swirled under the sunlight, and a girl in a purple dress with golden hair sat beside him, small bells on her chest chiming softly.

Wow, not only do I get sunshine and a sea bath, but there’s a beautiful woman to accompany me? Lu Mingfei couldn’t help but feel delighted.

The girl seemed to notice that Lu Mingfei had woken up. She leaned over, her clear eyes like the ocean under the sun. She bent closer and closer, the sweet scent of her enveloping Lu Mingfei, and his entire vision was filled with the sight of her ample chest… so full it seemed ready to burst through her dress. Lu Mingfei felt both shy and nervous. He thought, Damn, this plot is moving too fast! Just a moment ago, I was an innocent bystander in a gangster shootout horror movie, and suddenly, I’m the main character in a pure love drama? Can’t I get a moment to prepare?

But this blonde, blue-eyed, voluptuous figure seemed familiar, like someone he knew… When had he ever met such an exotic beauty?

“You’re awake?” The beauty helped him up from the water. “Great! Have a drink to calm your nerves!”

Immediately, a glass of iced vodka was poured down his throat. Lu Mingfei choked and sprang up, coughing. “Who… who are you? Where… where am I?”

“Calm down! Calm down! You’ve been unconscious for a long time, so you might feel a bit anxious when you wake up. That’s why I gave you a drink. But it seems like you’re full of energy.” The beauty gave him a hearty slap on the shoulder.

That voice—so familiar! It had to be someone he knew! Lu Mingfei looked at the person in confusion.

He lay back in the water and closed his eyes. “I must have woken up the wrong way. Let me lie down and try waking up again.”

“No matter how many times you wake up, it’ll still be me. Or are you hoping to see Chu Zihang in here with you?” The beauty was smoking a cigar.

“No, no, no, you’ve misunderstood the key issue here. It’s not about who’s bathing with me. I’m just certain I’ve crossed into a parallel universe where you’re a complete softie—and with terrible taste,” Lu Mingfei said, leaning against the edge of the tub.

This wasn’t some scenic tropical beach at all. It was a Japanese-style bathhouse, with walls covered in pinewood. Lu Mingfei was soaking in a deep wooden tub filled with water. The lovely lavender scent came from the essential oils in the bath. The “beauty” stoking the fire next to him was none other than Caesar. Yes, the familiar blond, blue-eyed, and muscular acquaintance—who could bench-press 300 pounds.

What really shocked Lu Mingfei was Caesar’s appearance. Caesar was dressed in a tight, shiny purple suit, with a leopard-print shirt unbuttoned to reveal his defined chest muscles. He wore a silver necklace with a skull pendant, diamond-studded earrings, and a diamond ring, looking like the host of a late-night burlesque show.

He had even put on makeup. His permed blond hair fell over one eye, while the other was outlined with blue and purple eyeliner.

“Want a puff to calm your nerves?” Caesar offered the cigar to Lu Mingfei.

Lu Mingfei glanced at it and said, “I’m not really into this indirect kiss thing. You know I’m still young and kind of innocent…”

The cigar had a ring of red lipstick on it, and Caesar’s rosy lips shimmered, even accented with gold foil… He was even wearing lipstick.

“How long was I out?” Lu Mingfei asked.

“Over 60 hours. You’re lucky. The bullet just grazed your carotid artery. That assassin was using a 7.62mm lead-core bullet. If it had really hit you, it would have tumbled and deformed inside your body, leaving a wound the size of a bowl. But since it only grazed your artery, you lost a lot of blood, which is why you were unconscious for so long. Your body temperature dropped, so Chu Zihang and I had to soak you in hot water twice a day. Since you couldn’t eat, we fed you glucose through an IV. We were worried you’d wake up brain-dead, but it turns out you’re as lively as ever.”

“I’m not lively, I’m just scared of you,” Lu Mingfei emphasized.

“We should have taken you to the hospital, but we’re wanted criminals right now. Turn on any TV, and you’ll see our photos on the scrolling news. We’re being charged with smuggling nuclear fuel, terrorism, and child abuse.”

“When did we get involved in such major crimes?” Lu Mingfei was dumbfounded. “It started out sounding like we were serious criminals, but then the last part just makes us seem like the lowest of the low. It’s like we’re a cross between Russian mobsters, Bin Laden, and middle-aged creeps.”

“Of course we’re being framed. The more serious the charges, the more police resources will be thrown at capturing us, making it harder for us to act publicly,” Caesar said. “Someone doesn’t want us to contact the headquarters.”

“It must be those bastards from the Yamata no Orochi!” Lu Mingfei said. “They’re afraid we’ll bring reinforcements!”

“Kaguya-hime indeed set up a network firewall. As soon as we try to use the internet or make a call, our identities will be exposed. Kaguya-hime’s tracking and surveillance capabilities seem to be on par with Norma’s.”
