Dragon Raja 3

Monkey face convulsed on the ground, his body temperature rising, caught in a strange state—seeming both to regain health and to edge closer to death.

Suddenly, his eyes snapped open, revealing savage, golden irises! Before Caesar could react, the man’s fingers stabbed into his chest. In mere seconds, the man’s fingernails had transformed into sharp, bone-like claws. Had Caesar been fully on guard, the attack would have failed. Up until that moment, Monkey face had shown no signs of superhuman abilities, so Caesar had seen no reason to stay on high alert. But now, the man had suddenly transformed into a beast, with speed and strength nearly equal to Caesar’s own. He lunged at Caesar like a lover in a fervent embrace, claws still embedded in Caesar’s muscles, his sharp fangs already aiming for Caesar’s jugular.

There was no time for Caesar to draw his Dictator blade…

A black longsword pierced through Monkey face’s heart from behind, lifting him off the ground and throwing him into the rain-soaked puddles. Chu Zihang, drenched and with his clothes full of holes, stood there, steam rising from his body.

“Brother, are you okay?” Lu Mingfei asked excitedly.

“I almost died, but I jumped into the Turkish bath on the second floor at the last moment,” Chu Zihang replied, turning to Monkey face. “That was some kind of drug that activates dragon blood. You shouldn’t have let him take it.”

Despite the sword through his heart, Monkey face wasn’t dead. He crawled weakly through the water with his remaining hand and foot. From his pocket, a small piece of white lingerie fell out, reigniting Caesar’s fury. He pointed his Desert Eagle at the man’s head.

Caesar had promised to kill him, and keeping promises was a noble virtue—he would do what he said.

But Chu Zihang pushed the gun barrel down. “This state of partial dragon transformation might be reversible. Let’s wait. We need him to tell us who’s behind this.”

At that moment, one of the fallen gang members slowly sat up, holding an old-fashioned revolver. He silently aimed it at Caesar’s back. Lu Mingfei noticed, but there was no time to warn him. Caesar’s attention was completely on Monkey face. There was no time to think—Lu Mingfei threw himself forward, pushing Caesar out of the way. The bullet seemed to tear through his very soul, and after an instant of searing pain, he felt completely hollow. He collapsed into the water, his blood spreading in the puddles. He could see Chu Zihang shouting, but he couldn’t hear a thing. The world was fading fast, the rain pouring down relentlessly.

Vehicles surrounded the ruins of the Mambo Internet Cafe, their flashing lights illuminating the scene. But the real police were nowhere to be seen—Yamata no Orochi had used their connections to cordon off the area.

Chisei stood in the downpour, quietly smoking a cigarette.

“A headshot. The bullet tore through several major arteries in the brain. Even if a doctor had been there at the time, it wouldn’t have saved him,” Crow said, handing Gen a deformed brass bullet. “7.62mm caliber. From the deformation, the gun was heavily modified—powerful. The shooter was undoubtedly a professional.”

Chisei rolled the bullet between his fingers, his eyes drifting toward the stretcher carrying a girl. He remembered her pale face; they’d met once in that manga and toy store. She had seemed timid, like a small animal. The coroner zipped up the black body bag, and the stretcher was carried away in front of Chisei.

“What about the assassin?”

“Shot in the chest by a .44 Magnum, definitely from Caesar’s Desert Eagle. The assassin only managed to fire one shot before Caesar killed him,” Crow reported.

“Covering their tracks,” Sakura added. “That assassin was hidden among the Akazonae. His mission was to kill the leader at the critical moment. Someone ordered the Akazonae to kill Caesar’s group, and only the leader knew who it was. The mission failed, so the leader was killed.”

“The shotguns belonged to the Akazonae, but the MP7s and Berettas? No way these kids got their hands on that. Whoever’s behind this also armed them,” Crow said.

“Can we still track Caesar’s group?” Chisei asked.

“They can’t have gone far. The family has ordered all nearby gangs to mobilize and capture them. We should hear something soon.”

“When the assassin fired at the leader, Lu Mingfei may have been hit as well. According to some of the gang members, Lu Mingfei thought the assassin was aiming at Caesar and jumped to push him out of the way. The bullet hit Lu Mingfei, then killed the leader.”

“Find out who’s behind this. Bring them to me,” Chisei said quietly. “The family foundation will handle compensation for Miss Asou.”

“Yes!” Sakura responded loudly.

“If the person behind this resists, break their arms and legs and bring them to me. I’ll deal with the execution personally.” The rain pounded against Chisei’s face, making it look as hard as Caesar’s.
